We used to ride these slides with the handle pushed forward which actually lifted the sleds up on skateboard type wheels. If you did that and leaned forward at the same time they would fly. I was worried when I read the title of this video when I saw they person posting it had a child because if you leaned into the curves going fast you WOULD flip them over. A friend flipped one over and got some terrible road rash...

I remember the Alpine Slide, when it was at Action Park in N.J. I rode it and fell off my scooter and got a huge scrape mark. I wasn't hurt much. You can get very easily distracted as wise guys will yell "Watch out!" Jus to get you to crash. One time while going up a ski lift to get to the top of the ride. I saw some poor rider sliding down, hit a bump which knocks him off his scooter leaving him stranded. He then had to walk all the way to the top to get himself another scooter.

I remember riding this when I was little. Back then I had no concept of when to use the brakes and sure enough I went flying right off of one of those corners.

What he means by the title is: Try not to lean into the curves because the banks are too low and you'll fly right off if your not careful.

I haven't seen an Alpine slide since the 80's up in Vermont. I thought they all got shut down by the insurance companies. For those who don't know, you get a cart that seats up to 2 people (1 adult and 1 child or a single adult.) There is a control stick between your legs. In the neutral/center position you will slide slowly on a set of nylon runners, pull back and rubber brakes engage, push forward and hold on because this engages rollers and you accelerate quickly. Lots of fun to ride.

There toboggan slides.

You ride a little car / scateboard tyope thing down. And you have a break to control your speed.

So you can go as fast or slow as you like.

There heaps of fun.

The title i would assume refers to the fact that if you lean to much into a turn you can actually roll the little car u sit on.

Ive flown of these things many times from going to fast and hitting a sharp corner.

Ah man! I went down some of these in Taylor Falls, WI and I went down a really deep hill that was within the track, too fast and I wiped out and got some NASTY road burn. It was fun! After that, the best part was the ski slope rides up.
