  • It is totally jealousy these professional reporters that are getting paid to do what people are doing for free on the internet and here on YouTube and are actually doing it better and are overshadowing the mainstream it calls into light there imnportance

  • Andy, I've heard tons about you from pip & anakin. I think you've made a huge point. The common man isn't heard. Only the loudest voice. That's why I think America has such a bad rap.

  • Thanks for taking the trouble to come on over & i think you could be right in what you say :)

  • i can understand why some people would look down on vlogging and blogging because you do get some paedos and stuff, but its the same as real life. i think the people who act snobbishly are just judging millions of people on a tiny minority and because it gets on the media its projected onto alot of people. its just a shame that people get kind of xenophobic towards it. good video :)

  • Thanks. As in real life, as on YouTube :)

  • Xenophobic? What has this got to do with xenophobia? Do you know the meaning of the word?

  • yes, it means a fear of outsiders or something outside a persons regular life for example alot of people are afraid of or hate muslims because they have never met many. Its just that vlogging and blogging are quite a new and strange thing to alot of people and i think people just fear them out of fear of the unknown and a bit of bad publicity.

  • Xenophobia is a 'fear' of foreigners. I don't think vlogging is in the same kettle of fish as cultural issues with muslims.

  • it was an example and thats not its only meaning just the most widely used one, xeno means alien i think

  • what the bloody hell are you banging on about mate

  • No you're not a complete idiot! That's the job reserved for presidents of the US!

  • I personally don't care for vlogging as it all seems like such a complete waste of time to me.

Read Maddox's article on blogs/vlogs to get his opinion on it. I usually agree with what he says.

  • Fair enough but a good blog is a good blog and a bad blog is a bad blog, doesn't make any difference if you get paid or your an amature

  • Well said! I agree entirely. I think the internet in these last few years has been an incredibly important source for people to show their talent in a way that has never available before. To a certain extent the use of the internet is 'free' and it's great that people like yourself are given artistic expression to express themselves worldwide. That shouldn't be frowned or snobbed upon. Youtube is great, so are you! :)

  • Thanks very much for such a positive comment :)

  • Why do some people look down on Vloggers and Bloggers?

    Because they can. Next question...

    Lmao xD

  • JUST KIDDING MOOSEY. chill babes.

  • Some of the people are afraid of the really strange blogs and judge us all on them. Some of the people are afraid of the accountability it brings with more access for the common man - Plebians and Partricians maybe! But isn't it just wonderful that we can connect on a global level and meet so many great people!

    Sparkles aka Gammy

  • Thanks for the comment & i agree with you about connecting with other people around the world through this site :)

  • spot on.

  • Very good points, well done on getting featured!

  • Thank you :)

  • I've seen the BBC praise blogging however, it seems to be more text based media.

  • no your not an idiot, i agreed totaly with your views, keep em coming. you tube is great! ps, i'm coming to hastings with my family next week...anything good for entertaining 5 yr olds? i'm sure we'll keep ourselves busy but a bit of inside knowledge never goes a miss. cheers andymooseman, peace.

  • The Old Town part of Hastings has all the usual seaside things. Rides, attractions etc

If you want to wear the kids out, go to Clambers, behind the White Rock Theatre.

Hope this helps & have a good time :)

  • i blog when i cant sleep. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • I disagree with only one point - that everybody's opinion is as valid as others - because some people don't necessarily know all the facts and have opinions based on emotions & rumours, so their opinions aren't as correct as people that do know all the facts. But you're right that everyone's vote has the same value, and I agree with everything else. Good thought provoking stuff hehe.

  • That's a valid point, but sometimes it's not always easy to know all the facts. I totally agree that you should make some attempt to find them out first though :)

  • Nice video I see what you mean.

  • Good to see a positive comment for a change :)

  • WAKE ME WHEN ITS OVER!zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Too much blah, blah, blah, buddy! B-O-R-I-N-G!

  • I like what you had to say, but i thought you might be interested in reading Taking Liberties!

  • I'll check it out, thanks :)

  • for fun?! hahaha. Talking about your self is so enjoyable and fun.

Does your head fit through the door.

  • zzzzzz....huh what....zzzzzzz

  • People are snobs because you use the word "vlogging"

    Jesus...

  • no im not aware of your theories. and this is a great reason to venture no further into the dull manusha of your perfectly valid yet unbelievably boring opinion.

  • I clicked this vid by accident and lasted 5 secs before I remembered I don't give a toss about about any self important bores ill informed opinions in either text form or wobbly vision. Blogs and Vlogs are pure ego wankery...

    Let bloggers eat each other.

  • Hey dude, you made some valid points in your video. This is the only video of yours I've seen so maybe what I'm about to say isn't valid, but I think maybe you could try and vary your voice tonality a bit and slow down a little when talking, would make it a lot easier to listen to and help people relate to what you're saying more..:D

  • Haha, if you mix the words snobbery and vlogging, you get SNOGGING! haha!

  • "sorry I couldn't find the arcticles" ... "it makes you think"

Yeah, it makes you think maybe you should look harder (l2google?) and substantiate your claim with some evidence of this so called snobbery.

  • Nothing to do with snobbery - just sheer boredom ... switched off at 01.58 yawn...

  • the guy is a dull gimp. Unlike the kitchen-dwelling party bore, you can switch this off.

  • Freedom of speech is a fundemental human right, or, is it? Depends where you live I suppose. Andymooseman, I like this vid and put it in the 'Pearl before swine' category, judging from some of the comments writen.

Keep blogging or whatever else they call it.

One day people who vote, may wake up to the fact that information is power.

    Tanu.

  • Scenario. Imagine you're at a party - It's quite a good party. You need to get a beer from the fridge, and he is in the kitchen... You need to get past him to get your beer? What do you do??

  • "my god people like this make me ashamed of being british"

    -------------

Now why would you say that?

    It's incredibly rude!

Do you like making less of people?

  • "Why do some people look down on Vloggers & Bloggers?"

'Cause you're all socially inadequate boring wastes of skin clogging up the internet with mindless CRAP like this. Why not all get together and have a mass suicide?

  • Congrats on the feature Andy! I've been trying to do serious vlogging with Dan for over a year now, but I think the conclusion I've come to is that it's easier when there's one of you.

  • Ha! Speak for youself Dan!

  • That's what I'd love to do. And in your case, Dan, learn to spell.

  • I know what you mean. At least when i argue with myself, i'm always right!!

Maybe you should strike out on your own?

But don't tell Dan i said that!! :)

  • watching paint dry ??????

  • Whatever ! Bovered ! Face Bovered !

  • thank you for this video (:

  • My pleasure :)

  • thank you too andy

you just earned a subscription off me

  • Thanks very much :)

  • You're welcome:)

  • It could be the misinformation and idle speculation spread forth in blogs, as opposed to Journalists who are trained and payed to find the facts.

  • What the hell is he rambling on about

  • How come someone has got so much time to ramble on infront of a video camera about their life? Get a life, I'm not interested in Vlogs or Blogs or whatever crap.

By the way I paused this clip and commented without watching, as no doubt it features some twat who is up their own arse

  • Thanks for your view, Andy.

  • Mabe......WE are all to bloody nosey ! Wanting some thing or Stuff..we can never have.....and make crazzy coments....just for fun???!! i just watch...mabe i should put something up on you tube...

  • becuase so often they have nothing to say. and just because it is thought does not need it needs to be shared.

  • I think to have a blog you have to have something really interesting to say.

Otherwise it just makes me cringe watching people drowning in their own self interest.

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

  • i don't mean to be rude but i have no idea why you were featured. your video is one of the most boring videos i've seen on youtube.

i'm sure others will appreciate it but it makes me mad when far more interesting people are ignored by the youtube team.

  • GET A FUCKIN' LIFE

  • LMAO!!! cstro2002... Your tellin' him to get a life, yet your youtube page is full of old buses...

  • cstro2002 is one of those sad bus spotters that hangs around taking their numbers and photo's!!!!!!!

  • Lol! You knows it! I really can't see how people can enjoy such activities! Well each to there own i suppose...

  • just one question what is vlogger ? plus love t shirt so white!! u cute too ! u got fair point their !

  • hi whirlyfan, vlogging is the video equivilent to written blogging. (i think! lol)

  • It is indeed :)

  • Great video - thanks for discussing the points and I agree with below comments you are very articulate and confident of your opinions.

  • Thanks very much :)

  • You are very good at putting your ideas across smoothly, I have to edit the hell out of my vlogs! Much respect to you. :)

  • Thanks. I try not to edit my vlogs, if at all possible :)

  • They are scared of true democracy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You may well be right :)

  • i get what you mean about snobbery because i have a guy who regularly slags me off about my vids. it's not so much snobbery as a superiority complex on his part.

  • I'm sure your opinions & points of view are just as valid as his. Maybe he secretly knows you're better than him? :)

  • hello m8 you look like a really nice guy but get to the point! you rabbiting on! this is not a snobbish view just my right to voice my opinion i think after a few mins you get the jist, but use some bullit points god such a rant, your not an idiot , just dont walk round the park to get to the treas, you could have summed up in 60 secs

  • I think the audience Andy attracts has a longer attention span than 1 minute.

  • That's a valid point, fairly put.

This is my personal style, simple as that.

I prefer not to edit my videos, if at all possible & i don't like scripted videos.

    I realise some people won't like it & that's fair enough :)

  • are you from Texas? your video sucks like a Texan

  • We do live in a class concious country don't we lol. It may have watered down as you say but I still notice it. Great video by the way, and I agree with your thoughts in every way!

  • Thanks. The class system is still there isn't it. Just the other day i saw an article all about the new Sloane Rangers, i thought we'd finished with all that!! :)

  • Excellent because I've run into similar articles as well. It was discovered around '99 that places like Blogger and others fulfilled a need for people to have online diaries. Then YouTube came, and it became video. Digital interactivity has been a pioneering concept of this century. I must say I ignore those articles. Now why aren't there more rock stars on vloggin YouTube ;)

  • Dear Andy, I knew it! I knew it! ... Congratulations on being on the front page of the world's most visited video website. You have always been a supporter, but more so a friend. Thanks for one year of concise opinions and advice, and an unmatched speaking style. I remember when I sent Samsarajade over to your channel. Reagan Opines - YOU are a GoodYouTuber ;) - John Reagan

  • Thanks for that John, i value your opinion. Thanks also for all your support, not just for me, but for all of the YouTube community.

You do a great job mate, keep it up.

    I consider you a friend also :)

  • People look down on vloggers because they are self important "youtube community police" - the snobby ones are people like renetto, digitalwankysoul etcetera for being spasticated so called "spokesmen" for youtube.

Just one cynics oppinion. Feel free to disregard it if you like.

  • Being a fellow cynic, i do understand where you're coming from.

I most certainly don't pretend to be a spokesman for anybody, just myself.

If others agree with me, that's great. if not, so be it :)

  • Sorry man but this video is too long...should be two minutes tops i think

  • why are people snobbish about anything?couse there people thats why, and people are generally complete ass wipes

  • Andy! Wow this is amazing! I got chills... they're multiplying lol!!!!!

  • They sure are. I'm surprised you didn't get trampled in the rush!! :)

  • I did! and all I got was this lousy T-shirt hahahaha

  • That was a good video. Thanks for featuring Youtube :)

  • Thanks for watching :)

  • People are snobbish about bloggers and vloggers because most of them don't make eloquent statements about the world we live in, like you just have - instead they talk about what they had for dinner, or debate whether Simon Cowell is gay or not, and presume the rest of the world is interested... I'm all for a world where everyone can have a voice, but with that comes the reality of sifting through a sea of banality to find anything that is remotely relevant to society as a whole.

  • That's a very valid point. As i said there are a lot of not so good videos out there, just like there are a lot of not very good shows on TV.

  • I see your point, but then again like you mentioned there IS a lot of .. uncredible .. blogs and vlogs out there, you can't really blame a well travelled, experienced journalist for trashing it when he sees it. I'm hoping to be a journalist myself one day, so I can understand that - but then you have some very well presented b/v logs that have to be given credit. Subscription time!

  • I'm certainly not denying that there is a lot of rubbish on this site. But that doesn't mean that it's all the same. Unfortunately the way YouTube is portrayed in the media, is that it's all bad :)

  • ROFL his head = weird

  • Yes, here the idea of "one person, one vote" is strictly adhered to. Well, not strictly, anymore.

  • It's a great ideal. It's just a pity that it's not always adhered to :)

  • It unsettles me some to hear people outside the U.S. discussing American politics. It unsettles me because it reminds me that our problems here in the states doesn't extend merely from sea to shining sea. What we do, or don't do, creates wide reaching consequences for world, brining trouble to the doorstep of people who never had a say in our decisions process.

  • That's why we all talk about the USA so much. With power & influence comes responsibility.

For the record i'm very fond of America :)

  • You have to qualify your terms, my friend. :-) I consider myself a true patriot, but my understanding of the word "America" bears little resemblance to its modern definition.

  • I think the snobbery has part to do with a breakdown of credibility. The more that the media and politicians are compromised by special interests, lobbyists and big business, the less credible their opinions are to we, the common men and women. And the more that, say, housewives, speak up and make SENSE in what they say, the more we afford average men and women the credibility that we used to extend to "official" sources.

  • Excellent comment my friend :)

  • No wonder some people view blogging/vlogging with such disdain (perhaps unfairly), with posters like you who take over 5 minutes to make a point that most people could make in 10 seconds

  • dude

  • Ha ha ha, the fact that this has been featured proves you right!

  • Another factor is that the internet is spoiled by a culture of annonimity. The people who like to remain annonymous do not like the fact that when someone is not annonymous it lends more weight to what they say. They immediately start saying that our videos are just ego driven.

  • You've noticed that as well then.

This is probably proved by some of the comments i've received on this video :)

  • Yes, I think so! :)

  • I dont like vloggers cause people that sit at home talking to themselves scare me.

  • Because the majority of Vloggers are boring and have nothing worth mentioning. Those few with the gift are an exception, but 99% of Vloggers want to talk about what little goes on in their life - such as dinner, or meeting an old friend.

If Anne Frank had a Vlog I'd watch that, but she doesn't.

  • I make fun of vloggers because most of them are quite funny. thats all

  • This clip makes an excellent point, demonstrating as it does that Vlogging is performed by those who can barely express themselves. A tedious waste of my time, or am I missing something and it's really a brilliant parody of the pointless activity of Vlogging?

  • Haha nice double-take there.

I vlog, but not to a degree where I am "Video Diary'ing, Merely Humour, as I make zero valid points.

  • Would be a subject worthy of serious academic analysis, but there is a difference between the impact of blogs/vlogs on regular media and the class effect.

  • Rather you than me carrying out that research :)

  • WHohoo!!! Congrats! I commented on this originally on the first run, but i figure you'd appreciate a familiar "face". Rock on dude! :)

  • Thanks Gary. Fancy meeting you here :)

  • I would also say jealousy. We are all subjected to spin, all media have an editorial agenda and Politicians can't censor what people put on YouTube. In the UK we are told how well the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are going but we know they're not and YouTube allows a soldier out there to make a video and show us the truth.

The genius of YT is the video could be featured, get a million viewings and be seen right across the world. (Sue Turton) Excellent video Andy.

  • Good points, well made. As you say, there is a lot that gets shown on YouTube etc that wouldn't get shown anywhere else. For example footage from Burma.

It's an outlet for the truth & real life :)

  • As most of my friends know, I write extremely long blogs on my Myspace, about loads of things, such as my life, Politics and Media. What I notice is that people tend to think, that it's only the people who have "no lives off of the internet", who can afford to waste their time to put Vlogs on Youtube, or update their written blogs. Upper-classes don't like us "peasants" talking about Politics, as it is their topic.

The media also attacks anything which compromise's their way of reporting.

    Samie

  • I agree with you. Other peoples perception of the Internet & the people that use it are usually very wide of the mark :)

  • Agreed.

I don't know how people can stereotype hundreds of millions of people under the perception we are all "weird", with little else to do, than talk to people online.

    :|

    One day it will change!

    Samie.

  • Let's hope you're right :)

  • It's probably because it gives people a medium to say things very negativly about them that the public wouldn't otherwise hear.

  • I admire vloggers and bloggers, they make the internet more interesting. I haven't the dedication to be one myself, unfortunately.

  • I'm biased of course, but i agree with you.

No dedication is needed believe me :)

  • Problem is your views or opinions which you feel is valid are being put to the Majority of the population not just a group of people who can openly discuss things equally. Why have snobbery! People being snobbish about your videos and others because its Critisism. We have to have it or we are all going to be perfect people

  • Most of those complaining will be teenage boys who come on youtube to be macho and are incapable of discussion.

I'm surprised you haven't had a 'I want that 5.39 of my life back' comment yet.

  • I agree. I'm sure that type of comment will come along shortly, don't worry :)

  • Yeah, so many assholes say that.

  • because like myself i wonder why people feel the need to tell everyone what they think and do during the day. What people have for diner or what there distorted views on life are does'nt interest me. All it does is feed those who want to be noticied. Thats my opinion i have gathered from watching vlogs.

  • maybe cos they don't

  • You're a lucky man. I'm going to add this video to my Favourites so anyone who comes across my profile by some sheer twist of fate will hopefully watch it, and subsequently wake up and smell the coffee. I've done this with other people's rants that are completely truthful as well.

  • Thanks for taking the trouble to do that :)

  • No problem. It's the least I can do.

  • lol.. its true youtube gives a chance for everyone no matter how shit/good they are ..

  • My question is how do i get a featured vid like yours? where am i going wrong??

  • I haven't a clue i'm afraid. This came as a total surprise to me, no warning, nothing :)

  • hmm good choice of feature tho as ur right this is a new way of being heard but jus wish my vids got some hits but rather get seen with ppl interested in my art then jus random watchers i guess ...infact im not fussed now

  • Check out my video 'Charity & Philanthropy' for my opinions on this :)

  • im a blogger and i have realized that blogers get more haters then other people.

congrats on getting featured. i wish i was successfull on youtube. but ive only been doing it for a short time so ill just wait and see. 8)

  • I'm sure your time will come :)

  • Snobbery will always be there as some people think they are better... long as we know what they think is wrong. And Vlogging is just a bit of fun, I mean who has ever gone on TV for it... Ha.

  • Charlieissocoollike x3

  • dude hes peaking fine and dandy english :S wierd person lol

  • He's British, you dumbass. Read his profile.

  • wow your sucha douche lol.....

  • Most of the people who flame video loggers have a lot of security issues. And are usually about 14 years old, or have been in a dank cave for many years. If its how people want to express, then let it be I say, it takes a lot of nerve to speak to the teaming millions.

  • Here here :)

  • The idea of jealousy is a good point, it is also, I feel those in power are afraid of our community and what we can acheive with our views and conversations/vlogs/blogs. I am a big beleiver that one person can change the world with their views and speaking them. :¬D

  • I agree & the Community is getting bigger & closer together the more time passes :)

  • The media are threatened by us because we can speak the truth without worry of how a corporate advertiser might react. Advertising agencies are threatened by us because we are making quality corporate ads via these online competitions and doing so for very little reward. If I worked in media or advertising I would be quite worried about my future and probably inclined to not say very nice things about my freelance competitors, the vloggers.

  • Thanks for that. I think you put that very well & i totally agree with you.

Hence the fact that so many media/news companies are now getting involved with YouTube themselves. They're probably thinking "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" :)

  • I think much of the snobbery comes from the fact that vloggers and bloggers are doing is invalidating what the "talking heads" are doing out there in the media. I find that quite often, i'd much rather watch a fellow vlogger vs. somebody paid by a network, because i know what they have to say is more sincere. Great post!

  • You've hit the nail right on the head.

Now how did i know you'd know exactly what i was trying to say? :)

  • The last thing you are is a complete idiot.

    Another good video, AndyMooseman!

  • Thank you loyal subscriber :)

  • Over here it's generally the hideous Fox news who seem threatened by people getting their opinions heard. They like TELLING people what to think, and their viewers usually go right along with that. Politicians don't want people to think, just to be manipulated into believing what they're told. YouTube and vlogs are threatening in it could get people to wake up and pay attention to what's going on in the world and just to think for themselves.

  • I've heard a lot about the dreaded Fox News, luckily i can avoid it over here in the UK. Not that i'd watch it anyway.

Some people like to have their point of view reinforced by TV etc, it kind of validates it for them. And as you say, some people seem to like to be told what to think. It saves them having to bother, i suppose!! :)

  • When I was younger, I used to be accused of snobbery. I thought about it back then, and came to the conclusion that I was a snob so that no one would realise that I wasn't actually very well educated or particularly clever. I think snobs have something to fear. Just as classical actors are (or at least used to be) snobbish about, say, soap operas. We're on our soap boxes here and the journalists who write such things are, I would hazard to guess, simply afraid that they'll become redundant.

  • That's a very good point of view & i think you're dead right.

As an example: i don't watch a lot of TV, but some soap opera acting is as good as anything i see elsewhere. Which i suppose kind of proves your point :)

  • Andy, I haven't noticed any snobbery to vloggers other than the people who put out what they call "comedy." I think twice now I've heard them say derogatory things about how vloggers go on for 8 minutes and don't have much to say. While that may be true for some people who get on here and go "let's see, what else can I tell you" and that goes on for about four minutes, there are others, like you, that have thought provoking things to add in to the fray.
