@robin6512 He has good training habits. It is a good idea to train in this manner since the high stress of a deadly encounter will result in loss of fine motor skills (i.e. pressing slide release button) while you retain gross motor skills (i.e. racking the slide). Also watch and read comments in the video "Travis Haley Pro-Tip: Power Stroke" uploaded by PanteaoProductions. Hope that helps.
@robin6512...it has been found that engaging the slide release mulitiple times wears down the edge on the slide causing a failure to lock back when dry or manually locking the slide. Even though it's metal on metal...friction and pressure will round out the notch wear the slide and slide lock meet. It takes a while for that to happen, but it's good habit to always release the slide by using the "sling-shot" action and not your thumb.
"where" not "wear" the slide. If you are an avid shooter and don't shoot all that often it doesn't matter. I am on SWAT and we do A LOT of shooting...they taught us using the thumb to release the slide wears it down. They showed us Glocks, Sigs and other semi autos that were worn down due to releasing slide with your thumb. You couldn't get them to lock back because the notch was rounded off.
I feel your pain Cory...I live in the Mountains in Northern California...and it is 10 degrees right now...Shooting in the cold isn't the best thing, but hey....at least it's STILL SHOOTING=)
Watching you shoot that 1911 in that stance, I can see the stability and control you have over the recoil. Really impressive!! Thanks for sharing, take care.
dood that thing is TITS! i'm starting to sense the day you throw the plastic in the garbage brutha! Hey quick question, do u notice with your M&P that if u slam the mag in too hard that the slide will close shut automatically ithout hittin the slide release? Mine's doin that and cant fig out why. Holla! btw check out my new little rant vid
@MrAzcabowabo Yeah man, if you hit the mag on the 90 hard the slide will shut on its own. Pretty much most handguns will do this. I watched the vid bro, thats some crazy stuff man
@MrAzcabowabo Search "Auto Forwarding" this occurs when you insert a loaded mag forcefully into a semi auto pistol while the slide is locked to the rear.
@MrAzcabowabo...it's physics. The slide lock is a mobile piece. When you hit a mag in hard the pistol moves in the direction that you are striking...the slide lock will stay in the same position causing it to separate from the slide lock notch. Like when you drop on the Demon drop with a penny on your lap or when you drop a firearm and it discharges. The weapon stops when it hits the ground, but the trigger still travels downward because of inertia/gravity causing it to fire.
@UTAHJAWDROPPER Ha I had some pretty small, 10x14, peices of ar 500 steele and they bent them over pretty bad. I added rebar to mine to make them more stiff,
Nice!

@MrAzcabowabo My M&P40 does this as well. You have to hold the gun at a certain angle for it to do it tho.
