Wonderful. You did brought tears to my eyes as I remembered my Dad and my cat that became his shadow when I moved back to town. Thank you for helping me remember the joy they had together. Music is food for the soul :)
How about doing a version where you mix in more shots of dads with their cats? I have a couple of dad before he passed with the family cat on his tummy. I bet others do too.
What a beautiful tribute song to your father. I listened to both of them ("My Dad" as well) but I like this one best because it's you who is singing, there's just something very special about that. Something about the smile your dad carried is so very contagious even via a photograph, I can only imagine what a character he must have been... by the way, you have that very same smile. What can I say, it brings out more of the handsome your dad passed down to you already! ;-) Thanks 4 sharing.
Our cat, Lola, curled up to my left, a box of tissues to my right, a PC with a sound card -- finally! -- in front of me, and a Garisong I've been longing to hear for many weeks gracing this room. Your father's cat is very fortunate to have you there at this time in his life as are we to have your heartfelt music.
Truthfully, I was looking up Laura Nyro as to whom I must say I'd never heard of before (yikes!) altho apparently I've heard her music/lyrics thru other artists such as 3 dog nite etc.. I ran across a bio on her this AM and one youtube video lead to another and here I am! I know she was an accomplished artist herself but I'm simply not familiar. Was surprised to read that she wrote "Eli's coming" among other well known songs from the 70's. As far as who I am? Well..... I'm Shine. :-)
Brian .... brings tears to my eyes and memories to my soul. I think we are soul brothers..... John (JHP)
