While I agree that NO system is virus proof, here are the real reasons Windows is targeted: * the Windows Registry and the convoluted software installation mess related to it, * the Windows NT/2000/XP Interactive Services flaw opening up shatter attacks, * a wide open, legacy network architecture that left unnecessary, unsecured ports exposed by default, * poorly designed network sharing protocols that failed to account for adequate security measures,

There is nothing wrong with 64 bit linux,Its great,i figured it out and am so happy with it,and just 1 month ago I said linux sucks,well bill gates sucks and his garbage virus ridden windoze.Ubuntu Linux all the way. F U C K WINDOWS AND BILL GATES.

No issues with 64 bit Win 7. Also FYI Bill gates retired years ago.

Microsoft is targeted for Viruses because of their market share, that's why viruses are less on Mac and Linux. Virus writting is a money making business now, and Mac and Linux are not profitable for the effort.

@MrTabby5000 If a virus gets a chance to run on ANY operating system, Linux, Mac, Windows, etc. and you have the permissions it will delete or change anything it wants.

Linux implemented security right, because it's based on Unix. Where the user is always a limited user. Mac OS took this idea a few years back, and now Windows Vista and 7 have implemented it as well.

NO system is virus proof, or 100% secure. I'll make a video on this later to explain it more.

Most virus are written for windows,about 90% of them.

@MrTabby5000 Correct. The reason for the large percentage is primarily because of the market share. Virus writers want to make a quick easy buck. So they focus on the biggest market, just like telemarketers or TV advertisements do.

I have much fewer viruses on Windows 7 and Windows Vista computers I fix all thanks to the UAC feature. I have noticed that I am getting more calls for virus removals on Mac's. Plus most Linux users are smart enough not to run everything they download.

In 10 years use(software dev), I have never had a single virus on my mac machines(at least that I know of). I also use Ubuntu, never had a problem either. My recent Windows 7 64bit had such a wicked trojan, I had to reinstall the os.

While it is easy to say that most virus writers target Windows because of the market share or install base, it is not the ONLY reason. The windows registry is the favorite target of all the computer viruses, bugs, worms, Trojans...

While VMware is great for windows guests... I heard you can even use Aero in windows guests now.

However, Linux guests get more support with VirtualBox... particularly because of OpenGL. You can't use compiz or desktop composition in VMware linux guests, but you can in VirtualBox. =p

Yeah I've noticed I can't turn on the enchanced desktop features in Ubuntu. Kind of hard to demo that stuff without it. I wonder if VMware is ever going to get that working?

I'm really not sure. If you want to demonstrate them, download Virtualbox 3.1.2 (it's free), and install your Ubuntu ISO through it with 3D acceleration enabled and the video memory slider to at least 64MB. Install guest additions. Then you can enable desktop effects and use compiz. :)

Downloading Virtualbox now. The great thing I love about making these videos is that people sometimes suggest other products, or ways of doings things.

It really makes it awesome.
