How much does BART cost, biggest ripoff is the TTC, the Toronto Transit Commission. Three bloody Canadian dollars, and its the same whether its a short bus ride or a crosstown subway journey. Monthly metropass is $121.00!
@RichardHartl Taking the BART from San Francisco airport all the way around to Hayward for me costs about $18 one way. $36 round trip which may be cheaper than vehicle when you consider how far it is and then paying to take the toll bridge, and then parking expenses at the airport. I don't mind adding another hour to my travel schedule to get around to the airport. Especially when my final destination is SEATTLE, WASHINGTON. It's like I have the WORLD wherever the BART connects at my door
The only issue I had with BART was the price. Too expensive! I love public transportation and prefer it over the car but after one day of BART I was almost broke and decided to drive around SF for the rest of the trip.
@canarinhoamazon the price isn't actually that bad compared to regular automobile transportation.you'd be burning alot more fuel waiting in rushour traffic compared to rail and that's why Bart is EXTREMELY useful when it comes to getting in a city alot quicker, and getting to an airport.
BART has a really dated feel to it. It makes me feel like the trains are untouched circa 1972. Not to mention... I am a big rail fan but the prices to ride BART are enough to make me a join the rest of the cars along the bypass. I'm from Atlanta and even though MARTA doesn't have as much coverage as BART, at least the trains are modern, and $2 can take you just about anywhere (one-way trip including rail to bus transfer).
@xivinrah I see what you mean, but I personally think BART is pretty modern, mostly because I live in hawaii where everything has a dated and un-modern feel to it. The HNL Airport, Ala Moana, and TheBus are all examples.
When it opened in 1972, BART was one of the best subway systems in the world.
It was most convenient, safest, easiest to use.
Guess what, now, 2010 it is one of the worst (if not the least improved) subway systems of the world.
For sure it is the most expensive to use comparing to systems of other countries including the countries considered less wealthy, less industrialized than the US such as S. Korea, China.
Uncle Sam never hesitates in making weapons but ... You know what I mean!
@ES350ES350 Bart is very efficient to me, i dont have to wait more than 5 minutes to the train that i need, since i dont have any reason to go out of the city, so im pretty happy with bart, except for the price
well thats cool... wouldnt it b cool if the had an OAK airport station?
