  • I only saw this like 5 times back in the early 80's (while watching 'Spiderman & his Amazing Friends') and I always thought the 'Kledian Warlord' and his parrot-faced majordomo would make a great Saturday morning cartoon of their own.

Thanks so much for posting...I've been waiting years to see this again

  • I remember this commercal back in 1982. This was one of my all time favorites that started airing right before I reported to US Army boot camp.

  • where is the other ones

about all the 'levis jeans and chords" and all the funky stuff that went along with it.

  • So basically he's saying he wants to eat a young boy's pants... Yeah, that's kosher!

  • I remember this commercial and that Warlords catch phrase LEVIS UHHH!

I remember in high school whenever me and my friends saw a pretty girl in tight jeans walk buy we use to always say in a loud perverted way LEVIS UHHH!

And sometimes got slaped but hey it was fun!

    Thanks for posting!

  • He says WHAT don't exactly wear Levi's Jeans at 0:26? Very funny, especially the evil giggle afterwords.

  • This is the single strangest commercial I've ever seen. Seriously, Levi's in a strange fantasy Heavy Metal land? What the fuck?

[still the best commercial ever made]

  • This commercial was made by Richard Williams studio (i know because I caught a glimpse of the first couple of seconds on one of the commercial reels)

  • I remember seeing this on saturday mornings..

  • @Y9Power you are soo correct. this commercial was aired in april 1983. I was a sophomore in an all-boys private high school back then. i think it's in tribute to STARWARS

  • not far from U dominothug Im from GI got U by 10 years but I remember racing home to channel 44 to watch The space giants, ultra man and Thing Theater on Sundays. Also Wrestling way back when they showed "The Hold of the week" by either Dick t he Bruiser of his cousin The Crusher! and going to the REAL JEW TOWN! back in the 70's and early 80's. oh well whats left of it now are just small pieces of memories we search out on here for. *sigh*

  • Thank you so much for posting this commercial! You took me back to a very happy place in my childhood!

  • Finally found this! Thanks for posting dude, thought I had dreamed this!

  • Dude. I have been searching forEVER for this commercial. I remember this when I was in junior high in the late 70's. I always remembered the evil laugh of the warlord. Thanks a million for posting this!!

  • I finally found it.....the "Lee-Vise-a" monster commercial I grew up with.

Knew I would find it on youtube.

  • Can someone tell me what the heck happens at 14-19 seconds? What is that thing flying around?

  • Oh my God. Thank you for showing this. I've been looking this commerical for several years. It's a Holy Grail to me.

  • Me Too! This was my brother's favorite commercial.

  • This is awesome! I haven't seen this in years. It was one of my favorite commercials growing up. Thanks.

  • All I remember of this commercial is the kid talking to some big green lizard guy and the word Levizuh! Thanks for uploading and waking up 30 year old neurons.

  • I remember this commercial when I was a kid. It was one of my favorites. But watching it as an adult now, I suddenly realized--was the Klid warrior actually checking out the dude's backside??? I miss my innocence! LOL!

  • Nearly 30 years since I last saw this one! LEE-VI-ZUH!

  • i think this was on the ww dot computernet dot dot dot info... right?

  • "Tribute to Star Wars"??? My ass!!!

That commercial is clearly a tribute to "Heavy Metal", the classic animated film based on the contents of the equally classic magazine ("Métal Hurlant" in the original French).

This commercial hit the air a few months after the movie hit the theater screens.

  • well well well, youv'e CLEARLY put me in my place, Mr. Metal Hurlant. Why don't you go Hurlant yourself out of a window.

  • LOL! Touche!!!!

  • @fschalk lol. anyway, you cant go messing with star wars fans. have you seen some of the conventions

  • This does remind me of Heavy Metal quite a bit.

I think that's why I loved it so much.

  • @Bucketroo Yes I can see the movie Heavy Metal in this commercial, but to me I also see Star Wars as well.

  • Awesome!

  • I think I saw this on the Internet before. Did Richard Williams work on this?

  • Looks like Dick William's work doesn't it?

  • im looking for the one that is animation, singing something like "hawk hawk, lee lee lee lee lee, lee lee lee lee lee lee lee lee lee lee, lee lee lee lee levis!"

I asked so many people- they all think im on drugs too!

  • It's here, called Levi's Commercial 1970-Claymation.

  • OH man - you rock! Thanks.

  • BONAFIDE CLASSIC, I remember being a young shorty back in Chicago sitting on my bunk bed with my Atari on the floor games everywhere and watching this commercial back when cartoons and Saturdays meant something. Now I'm 35, married, two kids, mortgage, bills, and now Saturday doesnt mean shyt, but cut the grass and change the oil in the car. ARRGH.

  • Ditto dominothug! Those were indeed the days. I wish I could go back sometimes.

  • It doesn't help that the Saturday morning cartoons of today can't hold a candle to the ones we remember and love!

  • Thank you for posting this Levi's jeans commercial. This is a classic, brings back a lot of memories.

  • wow they should play this commercial again

this brought a lot of memories of watching this late night with the old snl with dan akyrod and john belushi

  • Been looking for a vid of this commercial for years. Everyone I tried to explain it to thought I was on drugs.

  • Me too! Nobody had the slightest clue what I was talking about. This was so daring and ahead of its time. So glad I found it again.

  • Wasn't there more than one commercial featuring the space alien samurai-looking guy?

  • Yeah, note LoparXL's post and my reply.

  • I loved this when I was a kid

  • anyone remember the 70's levis ad with robot legs chugging along? I barely remember them but the kinda freaked me out and I still have dreams (nightmares?) about the display at the treasury. I'm guessing 1977 or so...

  • While I don't recall every seeing this particular ad, I do recall one with that alien lizard samurai punching or chomping a whole through a giant Levis sign, walking around it and saying his "LEE-VIS-UH!" line.

  • Do a YouTube search for "levi's few words" and you should see the ad you're looking for.

  • You're right, Lopar. There was a series of commercials a few years later involving cartoon characters coming out of a big Levi's logo, always concluding with a Tarzan guy in jeans doing some sort of comical swing off the logo and getting injured. The alien in this commercial made a couple of appearances in that series.

  • VERY COOL ! LOL THANKS!

  • Oh man that ad.... I loved it so much. I was around 12 or so. To this day, when I think of levis I think of the alien ad

  • I am from Chicago (South-Side) and I am a 70's baby...I have been looking for this commercial forever and a day. That LEVIISA has always stuck in my head. Thanks for the post..really has brought back memories. I also think there is another LEVIISA commercial out there, if you find it...plz post it.

  • GRRRR OHHH LEVISSSZAHA!

  • I remember this one from the 70's and 80's.

  • Always liked this one.

  • thanks for posting this!!!

  • Wrong decade!

  • *WAK! SOL! LE-VIS-UH!*

This commercial was the SHIT! Much thanks towhoever posted this!

  • WOW Cool! THank you for posting this! Does anyone know who the animation director is for this? It looks like Richard Williams' work....

  • I remember this one!

    Cool post!

  • I always thought Levi's had some cool ads especially in the 70's and 80's...some cool animation that kinda stuck in my head...hope I can find more.

  • I have been looking for this for years. Thank you so much. I couldn't get enough of that lizard thing.

  • Wow, I remember this one. Totally forgot about it up until now.

  • Wow. I totally forgot this commercial even existed, but now I remember every frame of it clearly. Freaking me out here...

  • Yeah, I've been dying to find this commercial as well, it's lingered in the back of my brain for years now. Proof that this ad campaign truly did what all advertising agencies dream of, sticking in people's heads (and not just mine it seems) for years.

  • For twenty something years only I and one of my friends have remembered this commercial. Thanks for putting it up!

  • This was the last commercial I remember seeing before I left for bootcamp in the US Army back in 1982. This was also my all time favorite.

  • Wow,I think I vaguely remember this commercial from my childhood and that samurai looking alien. Thanks a bunch for unearthing this forgotten gem, fschalk,it's great!

  • I used to love that commercial!

  • Down right cool, one i have totaly forgotten.

Heavy Metal movie influence.Down right cool....

  • dude this is the classic levis jenas in the 80s wow the pants make me kool

  • Something tells me this kid'll have to go in boxers sooner or later!

  • "Leev-veyes-uhh!"

  • That is what made me remember this commercial the first ime I saw it again..honest to god, I was 5 or 6 again with Lee-veyes--uhh ringing from out of my subconciousness..Im guessing this was on TV around 1980 or so..

  • Too bad I don't remember it at all (would've been 3 or so in 1980).

  • This must've been influenced by Star Wars and a lot of the SF cartoons at the time. Dated, yes-- but still cool.
