  • TYU FOR UPLOADING THIS OLD FAVORITE LOVE SONG. CARLY DID A FANTASTIC JOB, AS SHE DID ON MOST

  • As for the few that posted negative comments - do your parents know you're playing around with their computer?

  • Love it.

  • Sorry guys, you just need to appreciate her strength as it is.... you may not like it, and that´s OK....

  • one of the worst recordings of this legendary classic that I've ever heard....wrong song for her chops by a mile...

  • wonderful ...ann

  • mynames laura..

  • superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Only a dream? I'm not real?!?! Dang it!

  • what a voice she has

  • "I have landed upon a foreign shore, and burned my ships behind me. These letters were the last thing that held me in sympathy with any remnant or belonging of the old life. Henceforth that life and all that appertains to it are as dead to me and as far removed from me as if I were become a denizen of another world." --- LAURA (Mark Twain, "The Gilded Age")

  • Sorry, she doesn't have the "velvet" sounding quality to pull this song or any soft ballad off. Her voice is too hoarse in a pop/rock way. It's painful to hear her try and hold some of the higher notes.

  • sensitive.

  • Qué maravilla!

Es un tema precioso y me sublime como lo interpreta C. Simon...

  • This is such a beautiful song. I remember singing this in high school. What great memories.

  • I was just watching this concert tonight. Can you upload Carly's version of YOU WON'T FORGET ME.... It is sensational! Thanks for this one! Her voice is stunning!

  • The Four Freshmen's version is roughly 10,000 times better.

  • A Classic by a A Classic

  • Great song. Great vocalist. Terrible recording.

  • Is it true that Carly Simon is Mick Jagger in drag?

  • Geil,

  • is she a he or a she im not quite sure sorry lol shes got low vioce(like a man)

  • I love this song, so I was sampling some of the renditions and to my surprise (Not sure why) Carly's was the best. Her voice is haunting and ethereal just like the movie.

  • Utterly beautiful. Ravishing.

  • Best place to find women # lushfmlk.info #

  • Take it away Carly! No body does it better!! Honestly.

  • I heard that it originally had no lyrics. But people loved it so much they came up with some.

I can't believe she has stage fright, she is such a class act.

I remember the guy she was married to saying in Rolling Stone that to other guys she's just a f--k. jealous dude.

  • @mjazzguitar

A couple of weeks ago, I was watching Season 1 of Saturday Night Live, and Carly Simon was the only musical guest who didn't appear live. Instead, she filmed them ahead of time. They said it was because she wanted to watch herself on the show, but if you're right about the stage fright, that could explain it.

Either way, it was a great performance. She always gives great performances.

  • @jlmww

I do remember her saying something about the stage fright thing. She is awesome.

  • I heard that it originally had no lyrics. But people loved it so much they came up with some.

  • this is spectacular. I love this song , this arrangement and Carly's singing. Stunning.

  • perfect!

  • Beautiful job. Exquisite!

  • That does it! CARLY...run off with me to Paris and leave that a22hole from North Carolina....{wink}

  • Such a hauntingly beautiful song, and to think we heard it as kids performed by the Spike Jones Orchestra in a spoof.

  • WHO IS THIS GYPSY SINGER ????

  • JACOBI NEVER QUITE CAPTURED HER INNATE BEAUTY --HER LIVE IMAGE IS

    SO VERY PREFERABLE.

  • Fantastic video!^)))5*)/

    Fantastic song!

    BRAVO!!!

    Olga/

  • The intrustments are amazing.

  • Stunning! It is obvious that Carly Simon inhabits this song. Lucky for us we can see her masterful interpretation. Thanks for this!

  • every so often one of the older customers who come from my line ask me if i heard this song or watched the movie. i have yet to see it but i love the song.

  • a truly perfect song!

  • Beautiful song...i love...

  • lousy version...this is a great song...goulet sings it best...you wouldnt know how great this song was if you only heard this carly simon version

  • Mother Creator via my menal communication told me that this show is a decent way to make a buck. But i prefer a great show called The happening of the Great western. It is significant way of the great time i went to a ball dancing one.

  • Excellent song!

    Excellent movie!

    Amazing Gene Tierney!

  • "Laura" was already a popular film by the time Johnny Mercer was asked to add a lyric. David Raksin wrote the haunting melody to accompany the film.

I'd like to hear more of Carly Simon's versions of classics of that era.

  • @chapelhilldame I think she's done at least 4 albums of songs from roughly this time period. The only one I have (for sure) is her "Moonlight Serenade" album. Working on tracking down the older albums in this style.

  • She shoulda stayed home...yikes!

  • She shoulda stayed home...yikes!

  • Thanks. This is unique and excellent through to the very last note. Grand piano, and the most original arrangement ever with just a twinge of suspense blended with beautiful melody. I've enjoyed Carly's singing for many years, but admit have not been a loyal fan, but this is exponentially fine, and such an old favorite. I wish Gene Tierney could suddenly appear, young again, and reign over the big screen again. Such an exotically beautiful lady.

  • "Laura" is one of my favorite old movies; I love the way Carly sings the theme song.

  • those lyric by the great johnny mercer are so breathless and awesome

  • Great rendition by Carly to a beautiful and talented actress. It doesn't hurt that this song was the reason for my name.

  • es steven tyler !!! ajjaja buen tema....

  • Great song and Carly sings it lovely! Thank you.

  • Gene Tierney was so beautiful.

  • Carly, as a teen from the sixties, thanks for all the great songs you wrote and sang. Also, this hauntingly beautiful song from the 1944 movie, Laura of the same name, is much appreciated.

  • love Carly's version of this beautiful song. thank you for this video!!

  • This is one of the two greatest Laura.

The another is by Charlie Parker!

  • my name is laura :D

  • I'm Spartacus.

  • @Oeconomist im spartacus

  • ouço essa canção desde 1949! acho linda! muito romantica!

  • wow, very reomantic

  • Ottimi gli arrangiamenti

  • Gene Tierney needed to practice her fake smoking a little more

  • @BernardProfitendieu Gene did not need to practice was smoking, sadly Gene started smokiing very early on in her career in an effort to deepen the the tone of her voice, it was eventually to bring about her death from Emphysema. By the time Gene made the movie Laura Gene had been smoking quite a number of years. Though I agree it does come across as a little strained and awkward looking, however, though Gene was known as 'one take Tierney, there were many retakes by La Shalle, photo/lighting.

  • I will admit that I am not much of a Carly Simon fan. Yet often artists who are famouse for their commercial music show their greatness when afforded the opportunity to sing a real song. Carly is absolutely wonderful here! She even takes her talent and interpretation to its ultimate by giving Laura an air of mystery. ruly can sing. Carly is like Linda Ronstadt and Elton John. They are better artists than their most popular songs portray them.

  • @DickAllen4HOF

I like Carly, but what I like about this is that she is talented & confident enough to be herself in this genre.

Her 1997 "Film Noir" album, is brilliant!

  • Carly even still looks beautiful here! She does this great Johny Mercer song proud. I am a huge Gene Tierney fan, btw.

  • no her mouth looks like that of an ape

  • @golfr7k1

I guess we can expect comments like yours when they teach evolution to third-graders in public school.

  • but wait a minute, I'm not in third grade

  • @golfr7k1

You had me fooled. What grade then? Fourth? Look kid, you were way out of line with that mouth of an ape comment. i have no desire to engage in a back and forth smack contest with you. Apologise and move on.

  • you spelled "apologize" incorrectly

  • @golfr7k1

Thanks for the correction. At least we get some benefit from your fourth grade education.

  • no I'm just as stupid as you, i thought it was with an S also but firefox corrected me

  • Like I said, You're the fruits of the teaching of evolution in the public schools. Goes without saying that Jesus said "Don't judge the splint in your neighbor's eye when there's a beem in yours. I don't know if your pointing out your own mistake was an act of honesty of stupidity. I can guarentee you that I am not stupid. Why can't you enjoy this Johny Mercer classic sang by an outstanding artist?

  • lol im just pushin' your buttons :)

  • that's funny too. religious insults

  • @golfr7k1 just listen to the beaufitul voice and hush. i am sure you would love those lips on your cock.

  • @golfr7k1 *

    No he didn't actully.

    "Apologize" = American English

  • luisarchiecorteza

one of the best interpretations of a song, my mother's favorite, whenever she played the piece in the piano. the song reminds me of my late mother who died this year.

  • It seems the various artist involved with LAURA from director Otto Preminger, star Gene Tierney, and Charlie Parkers rendition to Carly Simon version is all good! - Gene Tierney, one of Hollywoods greats!.

  • What Vichy said. Times ten.

  • The rally song is never rusted.

  • Thoroughly gorgeous rendition. Thanks for putting this up. Love it.

  • Blessings and thanks to Johnny Mercer for such a classic.

  • Totally hit the mark square with this vid. Excellent music, Carly's voice is flexible, dynamic range, timeless. She performs everything with exception. Thanx for the great vid!!!!

  • my mother was named for this movie.

  • Sweet Gene Tierney....she also was only a dream that didn't last nearly long enough.

    RIP

  • RIP to sweet Gene. What a rare beauty you were.

  • It's making me smile that you're making sane comments when ANDREAthePILOT's not around. I'm able to do this too... Same message to mouthwashed (!)

  • What a beautiful song, I named my daughter after the movie.

  • @barbarjojo So did my sister (name her first child)

  • @barbarjojo so did my grandpa!

  • @barbarjojo i too..

  • Man she so owns this song!

  • I LOVE that orchestra melody at the beginning and end. I wish it was in the song more. :(

  • The woman is pure class. She can deliver any song with her own creative style. Maybe that's why she won an Academy Award. I'd love to see Carly honored at the Kennedy Center--been a fan forever.

  • very good, beautiful, wonderful music. The film is very good! sorry.

  • Great song from a great movie! Carly sings this on her Film Noir album. Check it out if you haven't. It's wonderful that Carly revives some of these old classics that oddly are rarely sung anymore. Another gem from that album is Somewhere in the Night - which was the theme song from the Naked City tv series of the early sixties.

  • o my god i love gene tierney, dana andrews and carly simon... guess i better see the movie!!!

  • The Movie is one of the best Film Noir you will ever see!

  • Beautiful
