Chess masters are able to play blind folded, and up to 12 expert opponents and they can clearly see each chess board in their mind. To be able to "see" a chess board though, you would need to practice for like 10 hours a day or more. I'm not a high level expert at video games, but I do know that as you approach the higher levels, the imagination begins to kick in.

I'm no chess expert, but, I am a fairly decent gamer; I know from experience playing video games, that either you can "see" things in your head before they happen, or you can't. To take a skill to the expert level, you need to be able to use the imagination in a very precise manner, that is how I am able to seemingly be "psychic" when I play video games. Chess is much harder, because to see all those squres, all those pieces in your head, would take years of practice.
