@Juillardl Those would be great achievements and a blessing to the world. Unfortunately, no one can work their way to heaven. If they could, then the sacrifice of Jesus Christ would have been a waste of time. Either He is God or a fraud. No human can judge whether a person is going to hell. That is up to God. At the final moment of life, God could potentially give that person the opportunity to choose salvation. Only God decides who spends eternity with Him.

As a former atheist and hedonist, I can testify the teachings of the Catholic Church is a firm foundation for a life of faith. No earthly pleasure compares to the riches stored up for us in heaven. After over 50 years of searching for God, the truth of His teachings, I have come home to the Catholic Church. It took thousands of hours of study and research. @Juillardl I love having an ordered universe. I know right from wrong. Through prayer I have access to the love, mercy and forgiveness of a loving Creator. I am blessed with daily fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through the Holy Eucharist. I receive forgiveness through the sacrament of Reconciliation. My nightmare would be living as a god in my own universe, experiencing the extremes of evil and good so I can impose my subjective morals on others without apology.

God says, If you love Me you will keep my commandments." Jesus laid down his life for us. He wants us to do the same for others in our lives.

@Juillardl Who am I to know the mind of the God of the universe? You are asking a created being, not the creator who only has that answer. God wanted men and women to have free will, to choose God's way or their own. He wanted humans to love Him. Without Adam and Eve's choice to sin, there would never have been an opportunity for God to send His only Son to die for all of our sins and show the true meaning and the depths of His love for us. @Juillardl The Catholic Church throughout history has studied the scriptures and the books of the bible. Each has its own value, especially when you consider the time it was written and what was going on then. When you understand the purpose and reason for each book you have a greater clarity of what God meant and what He wants you to do. It is difficult to make sense of the books of the bible when you take everything literally without a historic perspective and context.

@Juillardl There are no absolutes with out God. If you make up your own mind on what's good and bad, then everyone gets to choose what they want. God says hatred is a mortal sin, worthy of eternal damnation. God says we are to love sinners, including ourselves. If we look at our own lives, we are the biggest sinners we know. Sin is basically missing the pathway to love, peace and happiness. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Humility is required by God.

When you study human and Catholic Church history you gain a firm foundation for what is true and what you believe. When you follow God's plan and His laws, you experience daily joy, happiness, love and a peace that goes beyond human understanding.
I find it funny that the bible defines homosexuality as sin when all evidence points towards homosexuality being perfectly natural. Why would God create homosexuals and then call it a sin, because they are born that way.

I grew up Catholic, going to Catholic elementary and high school, became an atheist, relativist and hedonist, then became a born again Christian, evolved into a Calvinist, then a Protest and back to the Catholic Church. After 2 years of intensive study of the history, oral tradition and Magesterium I believe it is the one true church.

@Juillardl God clearly defines sin in the Bible. Homosexuality is not the only sin. There are so many different sins that not getting the exposure they deserve. Since the life and death of Jesus, loving sinners is the correct response to sin. Jesus spent most of his time with sinners, winning their hearts with love and showing them a better way to happiness now and in eternity. Humans corrupt God's truth to justify their actions and force others to accept their sinful lifestyles.

Atheists in America have one of the lowest crime rates while Christians make up about 70-80 percent of the jail population. @Juillardl Hi Juillard, I recommend a few resources that have helped me discover the truth. One is "The New Evidence That Demands A Verdict" by Josh McDowell and the research by Ken Ham. Their results are pretty conclusive, however it takes an open mind to accept the truth about our universe. When you deny the existence of God, then there are no absolutes or truths except what you or a group of people decide is true and have the power to enforce your views.

@biomans The argument of morality, which states that we are all instilled with morality and that the bible enforces that morality has been refuted countless times. Morality is subjective. I know it is bad to kill, I don't need the bible to tell me that. We can differentiate from good and bad by looking back through history, which kind of morals reflect the greatest societal health and leads to more progression. The bible also condones sexism and homophobia which is immoral by nature.
@biomans When you look at the bible you see nothing said that seems to go beyond the knowledge of the people during the time period it was written in. Most of the people I know who have made millions in the last couple of years on the internet attributed their amazing success to reading Think and Grow Rich every year and applying the principles. @jrob77 Actually this video is the work of Napoleon Hill. He researched for 20 years the most successful entrepreneurs 90 years ago. Successful people like Tomas Edison, Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie and others believed that faith is critically important to success. You may have more up to date information but I respect the thousands of people who have used the teachings of Napoleon Hill to achieve the success of their dreams. Perhaps you have a better plan with more relevant research.

As a former atheist and hedonist, I can testify the teachings of the Catholic Church is a firm foundation for a life of faith. No earthly pleasure compares to the riches stored up for us in heaven. The Catholic Church gives hope for humans from the beginning of time to enjoy eternal life with the Creator, without knowledge of Jesus as Savior. I am blessed with daily fellowship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through the Holy Eucharist. I receive forgiveness through the sacrament of Reconciliation. My nightmare would be living as a god in my own universe, experiencing the extremes of evil and good so I can impose my subjective morals on others without apology.

Without God, no one can say killing anyone is wrong. In our relativistic society, killing babies in the womb is no problem. Mercy killings of old people is virtuous. In Canada a woman killed her 2 year old child and was acquitted. With no absolutes, murder can be justified by anyone.

God wanted men and women to have free will, to choose God's way or their own. He wanted humans to love Him. @Juillardl The Catholic Church throughout history has studied the scriptures and the books of the bible. Each has its own value, especially when you consider the time it was written and what was going on then. When you understand the purpose and reason for each book you have a greater clarity of what God meant and what He wants you to do. It is difficult to make sense of the books of the bible when you take everything literally without a historic perspective and context.

God says hatred is a mortal sin, worthy of eternal damnation. God says we are to love sinners, including ourselves. If we look at our own lives, we are the biggest sinners we know. Sin is basically missing the pathway to love, peace and happiness. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Humility is required by God.

Since the life and death of Jesus, loving sinners is the correct response to sin. @biomans overall societal health and people are generally happier there shown from statistics, plus they have the lowest crime rates. Atheists in America have one of the lowest crime rates while Christians make up about 70-80 percent of the jail population. A little girl died because her Christian family beat her with a stick like the bible said it should, a gay kid committed suicide because he was bullied by the Christian kids at his school. Their results are pretty conclusive, however it takes an open mind to accept the truth about our universe. I know it is bad to kill, I don't need the bible to tell me that. The bible contains nothing of interest to modern day scientists and hasn't lead to any scientific breakthrough. If you look at the statistical analysis of the complex functions in the human body, only a person with a closed mind and heart would deny the reality of an intelligent universe. @biomansi do not believe it is a bold statement. Of course it is impossible to disprove the God of the deists because it is what is known as an unfallsifiable hypothesis therefore It is your job to provide evidence for your claim. If we are referring to Yahweh a specific God then we can dismiss him with what is known as, logic. There is no evidence for the supernatural claims in the bible let alone evidence for your God. @Juillardl That is a pretty bold statement. Napoleon Hill and the most successful men and women he studied over 20 years definitely believed there is a God. It is harder to prove there is no God than prove there is one. When you look at everything in the universe, it is obvious there is an intelligence that controls everything. If you believe everything is the result of random chance, you have not studies the statistics involving creating and evolution.

@biomans Please forgive me for mistakenly attributing the "work" of Napoleon Hill to you. I have done no research into faith as a tool for success because to me, faith is useless. As for the video, I was lost at: sex is an emotion that causes thought vibrations. Is English not the author's first language?

Most of the people I know who have made millions in the last couple of years on the internet attributed their amazing success to reading Think and Grow Rich every year and applying the principles. It worked for them and those who apply all the principles. Faith is only one part of the pathway to success in any area of life. It is worthwhile to look at all the videos I put on youtube to edify entrepreneurs with open minds who want to become wealthy.

@jrob77 Actually this video is the work of Napoleon Hill. He researched for 20 years the most successful entrepreneurs 90 years ago. Successful people like Tomas Edison, Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie and others believed that faith is critically important to success. You may have more up to date information but I respect the thousands of people who have used the teachings of Napoleon Hill to achieve the success of their dreams. Perhaps you have a better plan with more relevant research.

I love to read or hear anything having to do with Faith. Without getting so technical my definition of faith is that when you hold a dream or anything really close to your heart or want something so badly to be, that is hope which is the seed of faith.
