Wow, during this year I was in Middle School and "Smokey and The Bandit" was showing in theatres. Amtrak's LD trains were still long and were using the Heritage cars, pulled by SDP40fs, F40PH's, and P30CHs. The MU Metroliners, GG1s and E60s ruled the NEC. Those were the days!
@ACLTony Yes, and one could take pictures freely on the station platforms back, On the other hand, long distance trains (sleepers) still did not have showers back them,....one definite improvement in long distance train travel now.....
