the lava gun is actually balls of plasma, oh and in mech assault 2, the ragnorok is incredibly nerfed

@jangocar Yeah, but the shields on the ragnorok aren't that good compared to the MechAssault 1 version. Damage from weapons still manage to get through the shield. The only benefit is that the shield lasts a lot longer in MechAssault 2. But in MechAssault 1, the shields could pretty much absorb 100% damage from any weapons fire. The only weapon it couldn't fully absorb was the Lava Gun.

Now... correct me if I'm wrong here.. and I'm sure I am. When I played this game ... oh god 9 years ago, nearly a decade... there was a rumor floating around that if you could beat the game on the Hardest difficulty without dying once, then you get a special Mech, that was basically the Ragnarok but with a jetpack that was usable in multiplayer... No one had ever seen one... but the rumor was there. Also, I love the "Word of Black S**t list" at the end :D

you know if you look in that little video in mech select if you look carefully you can see the ragnorok has a pulse lazer but when you use the ragnorok you can't quite use the pulse lazer.

p.s. the ragnorok sucks its slow and it over heat's so easy

When I first got the Xbox, I got it about 1 month after release on my birthday. I was single, had a small apartment, making good money and I blew so much money on that stupid game system. MechAssault was one of the shittiest, most frustrating, ill-fated games I ever bought. It was so frustrating getting blasted on Xbox live because I could not turn fast enough to stay on target as someone flies around me. Horrible, Horrible game!

Microsoft seriously needs to get off their asses and show some gratitude towards this series by making a sequel. This game was the only reason xbox live had any success in those first few months. Unreal Championship was too laggy, and that weird fighting game with the blue haired naked chick was too fucking screwy.

It's weird how on the Ragnarok, the Lava Gun is labeled as an Energy weapon, while on it's variant (the 'Ymir', I believe it's called) has the Lava Gun labeled as a Missile weapon.

it's not labeled, its a special weapon taking the place of an energy weapon in the Ragnarok and rockets in the Ymir. If you go to mech stats before the last mission, the Lava gun has its on unique color: pink instead of blue for energy or red for rockets. Also, the blue button wont switch to the lava gun while piloting the Ragnarok like it would if it had an energy weapon.

the ragnorok has a self projected shield thingy its like target jamming except a shield.

The closest ever to that shield is the Blue-Shield project, and that was a very tedious waste of time, given its tonnage-to-efficiency ratio. The MechAssault's Ragnarok shield is really imbalanced, given its recharge time.

This is a mockery of BattleTech. Even though ComStar (And its splinter faction Word of Blake) made many advancements in technology, they never made it to the level sufficient for such devastation as shown in MechAssault.

But, you have to admit it. MechAssault brought a sense of "un-realistic arcade-ness" to the original simulator.. It's highly unprobable that you'll find white health packs on the battlefield for you to run your Mech over and instantly repair.

Nah, that requires an MFB... Or a salvage team..

yeah i guess ur right, but the original games still do kind of have health bars for each part of the mech. besides, you have to admit that the graphics are much better and the multiplayer gameply is also better. This is why the game is called MechAssault and not MechWarrior or any other classic game. personally, i prefer the game this way. In MechAssault 2, you even get the hijack other mechs.

Your brainwave patterns don't fit the neurohelmet. You'll be piloting the Mech in TechMode, and your balance will have to be manually controlled. Not good for firing.

For the health bars, doesn't each single component of the Mech have armor? It is a gross oversimplification to combine them all. To take a analogy, would you die if I stabbed you enough times in the arm within 20 seconds? In Mechwarrior, no. In Mechassault, yes.

Dude, you must suck at that game, I beat it on Elite, but you should have dealt with the Atlas and Thor first and not let the Promethius out of the cage until both mechs were destroyed, then forget the thor and deal with the promethius first. and as far as I know MechAssault is now can be played on the 360.
