With the exception of seeking God (in a religious sense) I agree with much of this video. Humility is of mixed value, if it hides honest virtue, as well - consider the arrogance it takes for any leader to step up and say the can is best fit among his peers to lead.
Still, my compliments on offering a positive portrayal of what a man should be. Too many discussions of manhood and masculinity consist of nothing more than an attack on tough-guy machismo, while this offers a better approach.
I can't help but feel that there is an inherent flaw in the logic about the wood. but overall it's too brash to assume that one way is the right way. who decides that anyway? sure the wood could have been a part of a chair, but what if no one sits in it? it may as well be firewood, which i might add is not entirely useless as implied. without "wood" sacrificed for the fire, how would we cook, make the iron to fashion, etc. this sacrifice may actually be greater than any chair.
Further and finally this short is directed towards how to live, and less towards what to live for. It is in a sense hoping for and calling for, open, genuine, men of character to become alive and vibrant today.
Thank you for your comments and thoughts and time.
Further, have read Wild at Heart- and found that a lot of what he had to say resonated with me on a lot of levels. This film was never meant to be super religiously directed though definitely spiritually driven. It was and is meant to be a video men, young men in specific can watch and use to begin a conversation about what makes us uniquely masculine. Ways in which we succeed and possibly fail as men.
We all I believe need to come to grips with, understanding of, and definition for our individual Masculinity or Femininity. I will agree with you that not all people emotional people. I do feel though, that while not everyone is emotional as you say, We should all be in touch with, examine, embrace, and know our emotional facilities.
This I think can allow for a fuller life, a more meaningful life.
read the gospel man, the gospel is strong and it wouldnt have survive without man with character, i belive you speak in a to emotional manner, and your words doenst project strengh.
man= God(jesus)+ having a purpose in life+ protect and provide for woman

man is not redifining it self by the people nor man are complicated,
