Please note that my book Keynes Hayek: The Clash That Shaped Modern Economics is published by W.W.Norton in October.
Professor John B.Taylor says that: “Nicholas Wapshott brings the Keynes-Hayek fight of the 20th century back to life, making the clash both entertaining and highly relevant for understanding economic crises of the 21st century.”

Clueless host interviewing an educated fool who believes Government can solve all our problems using magic numbers and made up dollars.
The problem will keep getting worse until the public realizes that MORE Government is the source of the problem - and that LESS Government is the solution.
Urshleim: What?! I need to thank myself for the draining of the economy so far into the red it will take generations to pay for it? When the Dubya administration entered the White House, there was a surplus in the treasury. I didn't vote for Dubya, either time. It was he and his cronies who sucked the economy dry, just like he did with the Texas budget when he was governor there. More people should think hard, and then think again just to be sure, before they post a kneejerk response.
i meant you as a nation. i feel sorry for you if you weren`t part of the problem but now it is a burden you have to carry too and i don`t like it when americans only blame their government for it. you failed as a nation. the false prioritys of the people are the fundament of your government.
I agree with you to a certain extent. But when a people vote in a gov't, expecting that same gov't to do their job in the interests of the nation and not in the interests of their family, friends and pockets, the blame falls on that gov't when bad things start happening. As an American living in the UK for the last 10 years, seeing what the gov't has done and seeing that the people haven't risen up en masse to change things, makes me very worried and concerned. After all, what is the gov't for?
It is our burden but I am not to blame for Bush and his bad policies. One great thing about America is that we can blame our government because we free speech. Sorry I did not fail our government failed along with Wall Street. I have not and would not support Bush. I don't know what country you are from nor do I care but lets put blame where it belongs and that is at the door step of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. U.S.A.
We're not the only country in the world in where it's citizens can publicly express dissent & disgust towards their government. As much as we're not the only democracy in the world. Talk about arrogance and "elitism". And by the way, America's not the only country on the planet in which citizens can express "free speech". There are other democracies other than the US.
My comment was in reply to someone else trying to put our financial crisis at the feet of the people. So my reply was called sarcasm and if you didn't get that then don't reply on things you know nothing or very little about. I never said the USA was the only democracy. But I will say this this mess belongs at the feet of those in power who allowed deregulation and Bush to run around with no accountability.
This week's Wall Street meltdown is just the latest Republican failure.
We also have Bush, McCain, and the Republicans to thank for
the largest deficits in history, the most mortgage defaults since the depression, the biggest income gap since the 20s, a crashing stock market, fleeing jobs, no energy policy, a $700 billion dollar war, 7000 dead, and Osama Bin Laden still out there.
8 years of Bush and 12 years of Republicans produced this disaster.

I like the guy and he's so knowledgeable...but his style of talking puts me 2 sleep. He's a better writer than a speaker.
ps. Maddow's show is just awesome, way better than her mentor and beating the likes of Larry King in the rating in her 1st week is great.

Maddow's show has substance ,style and unwavering search for the truth unlike Larry King live which is anything but interesting and journalistic .
