Wow. Thats 4:47 of my life that I'll never get back. What a crock of shit. What's with the obama pictures? Is he the cure for this. What's with the W pics? Was this his fault too? Smoke another joint dude. You're not quite there yet. What a load of crap. And Carter was a fucking pussy.
the movie AVATAR is a big example of the Invasion to Panama. That is exactly the way how we felt in Panama. It makes me cry a lot to see how we the Human can destroy lifes without thinking in others. Love and respect are 2 words that always goes together and should never separate.
Thanks to December 20,1989 Panama is today what it is. Since the late 19th century and early 20th century Panama has always reaped the benefits of external forces mainly that of the U.S. who has been a stabilising factor for democracy in the region.
It was the Balboa High School field and we sleept in the field with no blanquets, we can still heard the sounds of tanks running, bullets, airplanes around shooting. The first 3 days were very intense and horrifiend war sounds like in the movies. It is hard for me to watch a war movie because it remains me the invasion.
food but because the invasion happened in school time the first thing i got was my backpack and clothes. It was so fast because the shooting started again so my mom and dad says we have to leave now. And again run trhough out houses streets and bullets. We run to the Zone area because they were protecting their families so people so it is the only safe place because they are shooting to our houses when we got there the ones with good heart let say help us to go to a safe place.
So we lay down on the street and look up in the sky looking at the lights of the bullets that were coming from the sky toward el chorrillo. In the morning around 5:30 a.m. the shooting stop and they told us you can go home so the way home i so horrifiend scene of dead bodies with no head, arms, legs or even cutting in two pieces, a car with two burn persons inside an old lady desfigured very sad then we finally got home my mom said get some clothes and
We run to the El Puente de las Americas thinking we are going to cross to my grandma house in Capira but it was imposible because the bridge was already surround by the american with the tank across it. They told us to get down and do not walk so we have to knee down and go up not to close to them because they were pointing us with their guns.
the buildings from my house looks just like two fire towers then after that the light went off in the hole town. and the shooting started and thats is when we though we are going to die. The army tank were running on the streets up and down but so fast they did not care if there were people around crossing the street.
i remember when the first bomb exploded in the building in El Limite del Chorrillo, it was horrible because they were 2 buildings together and lots of families live there and most of them die because they couldn't scape, the stairs were burning and the only way to scape was jumping and they were high
as i recall, in old 60 minutes interview of noriega, he indicated us was after him because he refused to invade nicaragua on pretense after socialist daniel ortega was elected there.
dumb as it sounds, it makes more sense than us suddenly getting prissy about drug running.
As a panamanian american and proud of both my countrys this war tears at me. Noriega was horrible man and needed to be ousted. But the way Bush&Gang whent about it was terrible. To have thousands of Panamanian civilians killed by the invasion to get one man. and only have him be in so called "prison". makes me so frustrated.
danostamper-you have no idea what noriega actually did, and how the invasion of panama actually helped us panamanians. if you are truly ignorant on a subject just keep your fuckin mouth shut.
donmiguelj: I was never a Noriega fan, but it's YOU who has no idea of what the Americans did to that country. The invasion didn NOT help anyoe in the country. It has taken Panamanians YEARS to get back on track and you should know it. I can't stand ignorance & political disorientation.
alicegee- i had two uncles who were imprisoned by torrijos and the PRD, just because they were arnulfistas. they died in prison. my grandfather was imprisoned by noriega for the same reason.. all i am saying is that if the invasion of panama by the EEUU stopped more panamanians from being imprisoned wrongly by despots, than i support it.. by the way do you define political disorientation as not agreeing with your personal beliefs? by the way were you in panama december 20 1989?
I'm sorry about your loss & anybody else's during and after this time. But It must have been up to Panamanians alone to figure how to go back to Democracy and not through an invasion by the US Military. You probably saw and lived those horrible moments in the country's history. Political disorientation to me means being mislead and confused by too strong ties to one party & losing an objective. & no, I was not in PTY, but we too lost everything. My parents worked for the Government then. Sorry.

History teaches us that all good things dont last for long. Greed , Envy , Nepotism
Hatred are deeply rooted in men heart thus events like Dec 7,41 Dec 20,89 Aug 2,1990 Oct 11,01 will cycle thru human history...
