Very hard to tell just what Tim captured. Still,I have heard coyotes make some really strange sounds, they seem capable of so many weird screeches, yelps and howls that it boggles the mind. However,I think Tims call seems to come from a larger animal. Very good stuff. If we just keep on keeping on,someday one of us will hit the jackpot.
Thanks! I got the same impression but it's really hard to tell. Sound seems to kinda change over distance and terrain as it bounces around and gets absorbed and reflected. It isn't proof of what it is, but likely what it isn't.
I pulled up several "screech owl calls" on youtube. That first sound is identical to one of them i listened too. GrapeApeist that cleanup on the sounds really helps tho. GJ!
Thanks! I went through several websites to find a call for the ESO and this is the one that sounded the most similar. I just couldn't spend any more time looking for sound files. Is it a file from a website? PM me with a location and I'll compare it the same way I did these, thanks!
Thanks! lol. Still could be either one. The sound was faint and probably a good distance away so it could've left the animal's mouth sounding alot different than it does on the recording, y'know?
Well done! Side-by-side comparison really brings out both the similarities and differences, but I think the differences stand out more. This technique is comparable to a police lineup--a tried and trusted means of id'ing bad guys. One for the skeptics to ponder.....
Thanks! IMHO, it's really the best way to analyze a sound to find the source. But, there are alot of animals that can be pretty loud and sound very similar. It would require more study to try to nail it down to a source animal and it might not be able to be done with certainty.
I think you did a fantastic job on this grapeape! That is some really good comparitive sounds. I dont think it sounds like the owl....if I was to guess it does sound similiar to the coyote....but thats just my opinion. If it is a bigfoot who's to say they dont immitate other animal sounds ya know....who really knows
Good point. There are reports of BF "apeing" other sounds and I've heard of two instances where someone claimed one mimiced the sound of a person's name even.
My first impression is a coyote. My second and third impressions are the same. Keep up the good work.

I like to see some real science being applied here. I think it was... wait for it... either a coyote or an owl! But who knows for sure?

Wow! Fantastic Job! I approved this video because of how well it was put together with side by side comparison.

Thanks! I wish it had come out better but I had a helluva time uploading it. I don't know why it looks so fuzzy.
