My first real memory of this music was when I was on the dodgems at the local fair with my dad on a balmy August night and this tune was being played over the PA system. Seriously over driven and loads of distortion as fairground music was in 1960 but It remains my all time favorite tune.I will never forget that night at the fair!! I was 10 years old and pleased to say I still have my dad! (Wiping away tears as I type this, silly old bu@@er)
I remember this song from when I visited my grandparents when I was a child. My fiance' can't stand this song, but when he leaves the room, I play it. It's my favorite!!
Well, what shall I say..I just found out that this song was no.1 in the billboard the day I was born (02/27/1960) .... now, I don't know wheter that's a good sign .... If you want to know what was no. 1 the day you were born chek out "number one in history" on google
This was my dear old mum's taste in music. Although she died 25 years ago, this music takes me right back to those salad days of innocence, stability and family warmth. I used to scoff at this music, but now I see the beauty and divine melodies that she saw. I wonder if she used to reminisce about her youth?
Wonderful and beautiful melody from the 60's, I've always loved since I heard for the first time on my father's radio. Sad memories of that time when He was alive comes up to my mind and dry nostalgic tears drops fall inside my hart.
Thank you so much for uploading this masterpiece of Percy Faith and his orchestra.
Day's where care free..people loved and we never thought it would come to this......The Old Day's are alive... i wish all people could have had this period in there life... Your kingdom come..
As wonderful as both Percy Faith and Henry Mancini's versions are, we shouldn't forget the original composer of this: Max Steiner. As classic as his Tara's Theme from Gone With The Wind.
I wonder if ANY of the musicians are still alive. Most of them looked over the age of fifty, back then. It says a lot that an orchestra with an average age of around 55 could achieve a number one record in the hit parade as it was known back then. These days it's nigh on impossible as dowenloads have replaced record buying and most people over the age of forty don't tend to dowload music but still rely on going to the shop and physically buying something to play
I sincerley hope you don't mind, but I downloaded your clip and updated the audio track to give it a steroe soundtrack. I have reposted it on YouTube but am happy to give you the credit. Whenever hear this track, I am transported back to 1960.
@tonypmcfc - Oh, there would be no problem regarding that. It's always been my pleasure if you're going to re-post it. As long as we enjoy listening to Percy Faith's music.
Ah, junior high memories flood back. The loveliest of the "instrumentals" of the wonderful early Sixties...the magical era when everything seemed to come together in some ridculously perfect way...If you have to ask why it happened, no explanation is possible. If you were there, no explanation is necessary. We were so blessed.
It was the first piece of music that I really loved. At the age of 4 (1960) we went to the seaside in Lincolnshire and this was on the radio. It has lived with me since. I brings back memories of warm beaches and over exposed kodac photos.
I recently purchased this music from iTunes and I have listened to it a total of 294 times! It just really moves me in a way that I could listen to it over & over again but to be able to watch it being played - kudos to you for uploading it!
This beautiful song reminds me of the Summers I spent with my grandparents- decades ago. That was my Summer place. Thank you so much for the memories!
@TheBlisfullYears..........many thanks for this most precious memory. How wonderful the music, the orchestra, andof course the story. Again, many thanks.
nice to see an orchestra play this beautiful melody, instead of someone downloading a software program into a computer. Nothing beats the human touch.
Thank you for posting this wonderful piece of music! And a thank you to all the uncredited studio musicians whose work make recordings like these possible.
@schrap72 I post this everytime i find this video, that 's Boris Rybka, on first horn, famous player and teacher extrordinaire. I wish we we knew who the others were; and no women players back then :)
This song brings back beautiful memories of when my late husband and I were dating and later got married. This music is the most beautiful and I loved Percy and all his music. The old music is the BEST music. God bless you Percy
sublime and dreadfully nostalgic - even when I was kid it seemed old but marvelously old ... riding my bike - no phones - just had to be home when the street lights came on and lord how that song - paying on my dad's trsnistor made me want to grow up and be able to dance to music like that ... it can still make me cry.
I so love this beautiful uplifting music - perfect for summer whatever the weather! It 'speaks' of a more carefree and joyous time. Thank you for uploading this one!
Does anyone know where this video was broadcasted originally? I know it is from the Ed Prentiss show and I can see a little acronym on the top right of the screen but cannot read it... Thanks for your help!
@ftjax I was only 13! And this was the very first record I ever bought! My dad had a fit! He thought it was too ummm..... well....it WAS the 60's... ha
