@Germinator001 Not at all. As long as the water is kept in good condition and they are well fed, they'll lay eggs. I had larger fish tank gravel in this tank so that the eggs actually sank down into the crevices, where they couldn't be picked up and eaten. I had many of those eggs hatch while in the crevices and the hatchlings would hide in the rocks to avoid being eaten by the adults and other hatchlings.
wow, you had so many hatchlings without the drying out process? thats great! your adult triop is beautiful. i'm getting my triops in about two weeks. i hope i have this much luck with my kit. thx for sharing :D
They're similar to the regular fairy shrimp, but larger and they have a large armor plate over their head. They're not very different from each other.
get a clean (hot water, no soap) plastic container, some people use disposable lunchware or soda bottles. put in a few inches of pure filtered water, no chlorinated tap water, put the dried eggs into the water, keep a heat lamp on it so the temp is in the upper 70's to low 80's F. in about 24 hours, you'll start to see little specks swimming around. Add hatching nutrients to the water (mostly just ground up dried plant waste) and use a pipette to siphon out any crap that ends up in the tank.
Do you need sand for triops to lay eggs?

you can get simple starter packs with eggs, hatching nutrients and food for $6-10. A kit that includes a tank can run $15-20.
