  • white sharks shouldn't keep imprisoned... this shark's behaviour seems corious...otherwise it's a chance to show people this wonderful creature. show the other way... away from hollywood and bad boulevard-stories

  • @Bekhang95 great whites usual prey are sea lions and seals, not fish

  • @Bekhang95 great whites usual prey are sea lions and seals, not fish

  • Not adult this a teen white shark

  • that must suck ass to be one of those big ass fish in a little tank. doing laps around the place all day.

  • AMAZING! excellent job!

  • Where's my rod & reel?

Those bluefins sure look tempting. Probably too big to fight them standing up though.

  • Steve Irwin was great

  • Steve Irwin was awesome. I loved how he scuba dived in khakis.

  • Erich Ritter? Swiss guy? He believe that if he did yoga, it would lower his heart rate, and he could "commune with the bull sharks." He was a Discovery Channel celeb for a while, and he was filming for Shark Week when it happened. He was with Nigel Marvin, the least intrepid of all nature show hosts.

  • nigel marvin? wasnt he that guy who was on prehistoric park or something?

  • I heard there was a bull shark in the tank that was picking on it. Bullsharks probably kill more people than great whites. They swim up the Ganges, and eat tons of people that we never know about.

  • This shark was eventually released. This aquarium has held this species in capitivity and kept them alive longer than any other. This is a difficult species to keep.

  • If you like sharks check out adoptashark(dot)com it´s a website where you can adopt a shark, even a great white, with a satellite tag and they tell you where it went in the ocean, how deep, and more, very cool

  • kwl i want one lol

  • That's horrible. D: Leave the animals alone.

  • wow, pretty cool. i wish i would have seen it myself!

  • Wow, the babies have a lot of the details like black tip reef sharks on their fins. Pretty cute if you asked me.. ^.^

  • The Monterey Bay Aquarium kept at least two young adult Great Whites there on separate occasions and each time the shark was eventually released back into the ocean. They did fine in the tank, put on weight and grew pretty quickly.

  • The black tips are like finger prints, they're all different from individual to individual.

  • I can't believe all of the people in here saying this isn't a Great White. Yes, that is Carcharodon Carcharias. You can tell by her deep and heavy spindle shaped body and the upper and lower lobes of the caudal fin are roughly equal in size. NO OTHER SHARK LOOKS LIKE THAT. It is NOT a black tip reef shark, white tip reef shark, or anything else. Those species belong to the larger Requiem Shark Family.

  • i dont think the fin tip markings are significant. look at other vids and you'll see adults w/ markings on the fins and they are gw sharks for sure

  • Great Whites will not eat while in captivity and they do become forlorn...And YES It is a baby Great White!!!!

  • Previous attempts to keep Great Whites involved adults. Monterey Bay has had two young Great Whites in captivity, and they were eating. The difference in this case was that they captured young individuals, and made an enclosure for them out in the ocean, to get them used to that, and making sure they were doing okay before bringing them into the aquarium.

  • its NOT a Great White!

  • Yes it is. A young one.

  • I've been there and seen that shark too. I don't think it's still there though. Went there a few months ago and I don't remember seeing it in that tank

  • It is a great white shark. It's just a baby though. Cute baby too.

  • That is definetly a great white shark. Awesome that that it set the capitivty record. Makes me feel real comfortable knowing they caught that in HUNINGTON BEACH. Anyone up for a swim? Amazing creature

  • Thats a great white, Baby but! They usally go insane after a short time in captivity then die. You wont see one in an aquarium thats been their 4 years as they are a true ocean killar!

  • Of course that was a great white you dumbshits. Just not a full grown one.

  • but those markings are a distinguishing feature of black tipped sharks... there's something amiss here, but I doubt the aquarium is trying to pass a black tipped shark off as a great white to bring in business... my bad, I'm sorry

  • hmmm, My bad hey... I think it is a Great White Shark... why do they call them "White sharks" in America? I checked out the Monterey Aquarium home page... and apparently they do have a great white shark in captivity... and had one before that for 200 days...usualy great whites die in captivity.. I also never noticed great whites with the black markings on the tips of their fins, perhaps they do when they are just pups...

  • sorry, my mistake...i meant a BLACK tipped shark... i got confused because the commentation actually sais "white shark", what an eeeediot stimpy... he should be fired

  • that's not a great white... it's a white tipped shark

  • thats a great white u tool. look at its tail geeez

  • It looks line one to me. What sort of shark do you think it was?

  • that's huge for a 1yr old great white.

    beasts.

  • Great footage of the shark! Hope I'm able to get up there and see it before it gets too large and they have to release it like they did the last one.

  • You idiots. That was NOT a great white. Give me a break.

  • You idiot, it is a great white. It was all over the news and you can also see it on the aquariums website. It was alos on the discovery channel. However they had to let it go because it began to take bites of the other fish.

  • Its been attempted before but with larger females - around 8-10ft. This one is just under 6ft. Small for a white shark. Probably a 2-3 yr. old adolescent female here. The last one in captivity only lasted about 200 days. They've had this since Aug. 31 so they've got some time to hopefully adapt it but I doubt it. They're open water fish and don't want to be fed. They're hunters at the top of the food chain. A miracle of evolution.

  • Obviously, these simpletons don't know that its extremely rare for a Great White to be kept in captivity... Thats some great footage - and a really beautiful looking shark

  • Wow a great white in captivity. Hope it won't die too soon.

  • cool great white footage. lame tuna footage

  • so a schmarrn!!!

  • get a fuck up...no eating fuck off 3min of my life in the rubbish....vs what???

  • Boring

  • Thats right no interaction didnt like much to me either.

  • Lame. No interaction between shark and tuna, hence no "vs." here.
