You do realize that the reason a lot of poor people are larger or obese is because of the quality of their food, not the quantity? They can't afford to buy salads or organic food so they eat $1 meals from McDonalds. Just because a person is obese doesn't mean they're abusing the system.

As one Canadian to another - LA is not Canada. The areas the LA Regional Food Bank serves are often concrete jungles. Where green in LA is as a rare as Notre Dame fan in LA.
Then the other option is to create some new food that is mush-like and that is full of the needed nutrients and vitamins and is extremely cheap to make and buy, It might not taste the best but it would keep people healthy. Sort of like the paste from the movie The Matrix. I don't have many ideas on what to put in it but i'm sure someone out there does.
As the video says, "starvation" is clearly associated with developing countries in crisis. But "hunger" is a much tougher issue. You could be drug-free, working two minimum wage jobs, and not able to afford to feed your family. Or, alternatively, only afford foods which promote malnutrition.

I completely agree, budgets are set up for specific reasons. Just because these people can't afford to feed themselves doesn't mean that scientific research should come to a hault. Charity breeds reliance. Why would these people go find jobs if they know they can always go to a food bank and find a meal? I think this is a great ad, we need to help our own people. Let's face it we are in a very bad recession (almost a depression). Charity begins at home so give what you can to help out all in your local communities, food banks, clothing, furniture, all household items and those that do not have a home to be able to go to a nice shelter. If I walk outside I see, rabbits, squirrels, bugs, plants all edible. I could grab my sling shot and I would be eating a meal everyday with it. Of course we cannot expect old women in wheelchairs to hunt down animals. AND these meals will be missing a lot of vitamins unless you have the knowledge of plant life in your area. But if you know your plants and you know your traps, hunting, you will never be hungry. you wont be eating lobster but you will be fed.

As the video says, "starvation" is clearly associated with developing countries in crisis. But "hunger" is a much tougher issue. You could be drug-free, working two minimum wage jobs, and not able to afford to feed your family. Or, alternatively, only afford foods which promote malnutrition.

OK guys, just because someone's big doesn't mean they're properly nourished. Besides, would you want to live on those reserves for days or weeks on end? You'd be a wreck. And some folks have had mobility issues that preclude them from hitting the gym like you or I might have the luxury of doing.

Yea, here you go. NASA spends 54 million on a bomb to explode on the moon to look for ice fragments. How far could that money have gone to feed and house people right here. I completely agree, budgets are set up for specific reasons. Just because these people can't afford to feed themselves doesn't mean that scientific research should come to a hault. Charity breeds reliance. Why would these people go find jobs if they know they can always go to a food bank and find a meal? Sure, they're helpful for kids who can't help themselves but for the most part these food banks could be creating laziness.

I think this is a great ad, we need to help our own people. Let's face it we are in a very bad recession (almost a depression). Charity begins at home so give what you can to help out all in your local communities, food banks, clothing, furniture, all household items and those that do not have a home to be able to go to a nice shelter. Also I know of several groups of pple who give free medical care. Help our people out so they can recover from the unfortunate circumstances.*****
