Jesus was advocating turning the other cheek in the context of a brutal Roman occupation characterized by violence and extortion. It was horrible, and the Jews hated it, and it would have been absolutely shocking for him to say that to his contemporaries. So yeah, we should protect ourselves, but I absolutely think Jesus would say turn the cheek to terrorists.

It says right in the bible not to murder, and God repeats over and over the punishments that he will inflict after death and he states the behavior we should not tolerate. Skim through Leviticus and you'll find passages when God calls for people who commit the sins he says to be put to death. Killing and murdering are different.

He hates sin because this is the way in which man hurts both himself and his fellow man--and God loves us all and wants us to be happy. Therefore, He must punish sin in order to show us how seriously he takes this behavior. If you had two sons and one was hitting the other, you would punish him because you love them and want them to have a good relationship.
The way that God punishes us is by eternal separation from Himself. This is fitting because by willfully disobeying Him, we are choosing to reject Him and His rules. In order to give us more than one chance at living right (another reason your analogy is incorrect), He (as Jesus--both fully man and fully God; ie, the Trinity) willingly died in our place and was separated (from God) in Hell for three days.

yea, all those quotes from the Old Testament talk about paying for sins. Then about 2,010 years something significant happen. So we have a New Testament that teaches about our God paying for those sins with the death of his Son. Please read the entire book and pray for help to understand it before you quote from it. In fact, it is the way of living where people will flourish and support each other. The problem is when you get away from what Jesus taught in "the sermon on the mount." It says right in the bible not to murder, and God repeats over and over the punishments that he will inflict after death and he states the behavior we should not tolerate. Skim through Leviticus and you'll find passages when God calls for people who commit the sins he says to be put to death. Killing and murdering are different.

He hates sin because this is the way in which man hurts both himself and his fellow man--and God loves us all and wants us to be happy. Therefore, He must punish sin in order to show us how seriously he takes this behavior. If you had two sons and one was hitting the other, you would punish him because you love them and want them to have a good relationship.

The way that God punishes us is by eternal separation from Himself. This is fitting because by willfully disobeying Him, we are choosing to reject Him and His rules. In order to give us more than one chance at living right (another reason your analogy is incorrect), He (as Jesus--both fully man and fully God; ie, the Trinity) willingly died in our place and was separated (from God) in Hell for three days.
