Cliff Nobles originally from Alabama. He moved to Philadelphia and recorded three singles for Atlantic Records, none of which charted. While living in a commune in Norristown, Pennsylvania, he formed a group, Cliff Nobles & Co., with bassist Benny Williams, guitarist Bobby Tucker, and drummer Tommy Soul. They recorded demos and, with the help of songwriter/record producer Jesse James, landed a recording contract with Phil-L.A. of Soul Records.
What a joke, these are not the original musicians. The original musicians are the rythm section from MFSB (The Sound of Philadelphia). This cut was done before they became the core ryhthm musicians there. Look at other You Tube clips with a picture of the 45 RPM and you will see that it was arrnaged by B. Martin (Bobby). He and Thom Bell did most of the arrangements for Gamble & Huff on artist like The Intruders, Archie Bell, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and others.

What you have to do to appear on TV if the B-side instrumental becomes the hit. Classic track though.
