nice shooting! Nice reflex! That cop did what he had to do, and shooting at a moving target through objects after having a gun misfire in your face and hit the man...excellent shooting
Boom boom, out go the lights! There had to have been a ton of crack in the van or something... you don't try and kill a polite cop for a traffic stop.
The dude who drove the car pointed the gun at the cops head but had his safety on or he didn't have a bullet in the barrell, anyways, he presses the trigger but a click is heard, after that the driver says " shit " loads the chamber and fires but the cop was quick enough to get away
This video should be used as a training tool in academies all over the US on how NOT to approach a vehicle. Why in the world was the cop squared up to the window? What i saw was an experienced cop but a complacent one. He's lucky the first trigger pull by the idiot driver didn't result in him losing his life. Good reaction on the part of the cop though.
@rich0319726 Actually, one of the last rounds the officer fired hit the driver in the back, which killed him rather quickly, hence the vehicle hitting the telephone pole.
Holy crap! Nice response officer, you were lucky!. After ya realized what was happening. Light em up, Instance justice O.K. as far as I can see, wish ya had more rounds to try and kill that son of a bitch.
@rich0319726 He actually did after one of the rounds hit the driver in the back killing him rather quickly, which is why the vehicle ran into a telephone at the end of the video. Further details can be found by following the link to the news story at the bottom of the video description/details (below the video).
One good reason why the officer is alive is because he aim his flashlight at the suspects eyes once he saw the gun, he blind him for a few seconds that's why the shot doesn't make contact so that gave the officer time to step back and draw his weapon. When the back windshield when Down the officer had a great chance of hitting the driver.. He ether got shot or was still blind..
@needpowershots wow really? a cop almost gets shot in the face, and when he backs away the man fires another shot to try and shoot the cop again, when the cop turns around he shoots the man for defense. And you can still find a way to try and insult a cop, how disrespectful can people be. Trust me if that cop would have shot a tire that man would of came out trying to shoot someone...again. So shut up, the cop did what he needed to do and he did it very well might i add
Many people who carry revolvers don't load the first chamber as a means of providing a safety on a pistol that has none. Very rarely will someone have a spent shell in their pistol, especially if it's the next one in the rotation. While more sane/sober, this guy chose to keep the next chamber empty to prevent an accidental discharge. Lucky for the cop. If the attempted cop-killer didn't at some point choose to be safe about his pistol, this would have been a much more horrific video.
Most insane dash-cam video I've ever seen. Following the van after the officer shot and watching the tail-lights disappear, then seeing the huge spark of the telephone pole was suspensful as shit. I hate to say it, but it was almost as crazy as a movie. Glad the officer is alright. Could care less for the drunken psychopath.
are you saying Americans don't know how to use firearms? that we do shit like this all the time? are you saying fire arms are bad?
correction, this is what happens when stupid people buy guns, the drunk driver is one of the many idiots, that ruin it for the responsible fire arm owners such as myself, who do not point there weapon at anything they shouldn't be pointed at, and only use there fire arm for hunting or self defense. this fool is misusing 2 weapons, a vehicle and a firearm.
this cop starred death in the face! it's easily seen the driver meant to shoot the cop point blank in the face but the gun didn't fire. unloading on the car is very much justified. the cop was SHOT AT and had to respond in such way to provide "cover fire" in the event of additional shots coming from the driver.
Legit response, Also, THIS is how youtube descriptions should be used. One of the best video descriptions i've seen. All the information i could have wanted, plus links to more. Well done.
@UserNamei5 - Ever heard of PCP? But seriously, you are right, do you think the gunman would have responded this way if had been smoking pot? I doubt it.
0:32 the guy could have killed the cop, he points the guy directly in the cops face but does not shoot yet.. a couple seconds later he shoots out the window while driving away, i wonder if he was trying to kill the cop or not? either way the officer seems justified to respond the way he did
It's hard to hear it, but there is a *click* when the guy pulls the trigger while he's pointing the gun at the cops head, because that particular round had already been fired.
@honestskeptic Gun could have jammed. Its interesting to hear how many times the gun jams in cases like this. Its almost as if the people are getting another chance to fix their stupid ass mistake.
@honestskeptic You can hear the click, if you listen closely.. It was the hammer hitting a round that was already discharged earlier.. The round after that, as you saw was a live one..
to people saying the cop shouldn't have done what he did.........i'm with you, cops suck, they often use their power to take away people's rights and abuse them. it's true, cops suck dick.
BUT are you really trying to tell me he wasn't justified doing that? imagine yourself in that situation, where somebody just tried to TAKE YOUR LIFE over a drunk driving ticket. you would want to protect yourself too, and you would want to destroy the motherfucker that just tried to murder you. come on.
i would like to thank the cop for making the world a better place. if you aren't convinced that the guy being shot is a piece of sh!t, then you're a moron. where do people get their fake values that "just because you have your back turned means you're not supposed to get shot back at"?
The officer was lucky to escape with his life. Anyone in that situation would have retaliated in the way the officer did. Lethal force is actually justified, by law, if he reasonably believes the suspect presents a lethal threat to the public. The suspect fired on the officer, was drunk driving and speeding off....the officer was following proper procedure, I would have responded the same.
@Titan124 Absolutely, once all methods of capture have been exhausted police may use lethal force against a felon who may be a danger to someone's life. It's a good thing he killed that guy so he couldn't get away and try to murder again.
@Titan124 Dude you're a moron. As if you wouldn't have shot back the moment someone fired a gun at you, cop or not. At that point in the game of life the use of lethal force is not only authorized. Even if you hate cops you as a civilian would have done the same it would have been considered a justifiable homicide.
@Titan124 If someone attempted to end my life, my split second reaction would have been exactly the same even if the guy was running/driving away. I wouldn't take any chances.
From officers scream to his 1st shot on the suspect was just under 3 sec.( From a Security holster no less!) 14 aimed shots on a moving away target in just under 5 seconds- some of the first ones were one handed- at some point he drops the flashlight. Damn good reaction time, fantastic draw while moving and getting shot at & Damn good shooting! Great job officer! Keep up the good work! Any body know what gun and caliber?
@sbd45acp According to the report, the suspect fired a .41 Magnum revolver at the officer and the officer returned fire with his Glock Model 22 which is .40 Caliber.
@contressa WTF?! the police are out there getting idiots like you off the street to keep people safe. Let's see you, your mom, your brother, your daughter, or your best friend get hit and killed by that drunk driver that otherwise would've been stopped by the cop he tried to shoot. Then tell the world what you think. Seriously what the hell is your problem?
That officer had an angel on his shoulder that night. Holy shit! Position yourself a little more tactically next time dude. Good shooting though. One less cop killer off the street. Count your blessings...
"wow that didnt go well too plan did it the the idiot pulls out the gun and the officer like "Ohh Shit" then runs back and starts too fire at the car as it drives off never a good idea too stick a gun in a police officirs face!
