How does he or any human know, "This light has been beaming for 13 billion years." & How does he or any human know, "that the universe is only 13.7 billion years old"? He smiles big after he says it. lol. Crazy how he or any human can know this. But I guess they can.
@NorthWestRegionRep Well, when you consider when you open the lens of some camera, and the speed at which light travels, you can measure how long it took the light from that item to reach you. This 'item' is apparently also a galaxy, which, relative to our position, would be 13 billion years old after you mess with all the calculations.
The idea of the universe being 13.7 billion years old comes from the cosmic microwave background radiation found by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, IIRC.
Savior Michio; What makes the sky blue? Why can't I see the insides of my eyes? Why do boys tinkle in an oval pattern 8.9 inches circumference? Do tigers have stripes on the insides to? What is your favorite breakfast cereal? What color is Gods hair? If I threw an orange straight up into the air 100' what do I get when it lands? If my cat jumped on your head, what would be the first word you said? And last savior Michio, how do you pronounce your name * 7 real fast= Jackie Chan?!
what happends by reaching the 13.7 billions? travel in no time and nowhere? in the nothingness of existence...?go to a parallel universe. since there's no more time beyond it.
I really WISH they would answer that question! But they never will, because science just can't tell us!! Come on, don't be scared. Answer that question Savior Michio!
@Deepmindandheartlife The opportunity to escape the patterns that are constantly replaying over the lives of everyone on earth , who could resist? To finally be part of energy without being subjected to it's demise as seen on earth. To live as a force of life but without the sorrow of losing life as one form is sacrificed to be turned into something else. To be able to remain at a constant life force and not be assaulted by the accelerated artificial programs.
@turkmuslim4ever our galaxy is not the oldest. the big bang didn't happen at the center of our galaxy, it happened at the center of the universe. our galaxy is one of hundreds of billions of galaxies speeding away from a central point. nowhere in the history of astronomy have we claimed that our galaxy was the oldest.
this discovery in no way breaks the Big Bang theory.
I think it would be so awesome if they found a star that was 15b years old so that it just throws everyone in the scientific community for a loop. They'd be like... wait.. what? XD
Everytime I find out about stuff like this it depresses me, because I know I wont get to live long enough to see a telescope that can see the planets of these places close up.
@Alex77Fox think about it our galaxy is the oldest... big bang theory right? so now they make up that its 13 biljon years old... hmmm i dont believe all of his theorys but he has some that make me think... this one is almost against all scientist big bang is not that old right...
@turkmuslim4ever Now when? You are exacly 'the people' who think we are the center of the universe and the type of person who 500 years ago would say the sun goes around planet earth and judge Galileo.
Why is our galaxy the oldest? Who is gonna believe a person who can barely make him self be comprehended.
i could not imagine a world without science it would be boring and very dangerous as what corner would you hide behind when the mobs come looking for someone to burn at the stake for not doing or believing in what they believe this is why i love science it brings order out of chaos it is evidence proof and real love
Very, very exciting. How is it there are still people that truely think this was all created FOR US by a supernatural being? Just plain old arrogance...
@Viruspirate ok, theyre talking about one of the oldest things in the universe and your comment is about the hot reporter...your entitled to everthing work for nothing know little ..i hate this generation

The oldest planet, Methusaleh who also orbits 2 stars, is 12-13 billion years old.
