I have been Dowsing for almost 45 years and I will be 50 this year. I am a Plumber and own LBI Plumbing & Builders on Long Beach Island NJ or also known as ( L.B.I.) to most people. LBI is an Island 6 miles at sea from the Mainland town of Manahawkin, NJ. You would think that being on an Island would make it pretty hard to use Dowsing as you are completely surrounded by water and you are on a sand bar that has an underground water table that rises and falls with the tide. Next ->
When you dig you will hit water anywhere from 1' foot to 3' feet depending on the Tide, Moon, Wind, Rain, and also Flood Elevation Height of the area you are standing on.
My Dowsing Ability allows me to Locate Underground Water Service lines from the house to the curb and also in the Street. These lines may be Copper, Poly Plastic, or Steel.
I also can locate Sewer Lines which are usually just an empty pipe made of PVC or ABS, Plastic, Transite, Orangeburg, or Clay. Continued 3 of 4->
I can also Locate intersections where a Lateral comes off the Main Water Supply line in the Road. This is basically where a Tee is located and I can pick up where the Intersecting Tee is located a few feet underground as the Dowsing Rods will line up at a 90 Degree angle.
I can Locate Underground Natural Gas Lines which are Plastic, Copper, or Steel.
I can also Locate Buried Electrical, Phone, and Cable Lines. Continued 2 of 4->
@Dowsing4Dollars If you think you can really do the things you claim, the James Randi Educational Foundation might have a million dollar prize waiting for you. I'm eager to hear the results.
I have Never Once gone to a Job and not found the Underground Utility Lines I have Looked For.
I have Never had a false reading.
I will be happy to demonstrate my Dowsing Abilities, and there is a very good chance you will see it on TV as we have a Reality TV Show about my Plumbing & Building Business in development at time.
Feel free to Email me at Dowsing4Dollars@Gmail.com Continued 1 of 4->
Just search on Youtube for dowsing and double blind. There is a program by Richard Dawkins called Enemies of Reason where they conduct a serious double blind test on dowsing. Surprise, all the dowsers did no better than chance. Anyone who doesn't want to submit their claims to serious scientific testing should be categorized at best as deluded and at worst a charlatan.
@blurbfly I suppose that could be said of all religions too then. If someone believes in something you don't believe in, it doesn't make them deluded or a charlatan. People's beliefs are their own. If you believe in finding the energy ground water creates by dowsing, then more power to you. If you don't, that's fine too. Things proven to be 'fact' yesterday, will often be proven 'false' tomorrow. Science and religion are both very flawed. I don't blindly give myself to either.
@chippychin If you believe in something without a shred of evidence then yes, you are deluded. Charlatans are the ones who know it's rubbish but take peoples money anyway and use it to have power over people. The deluded ones believe it in a harmless 'follow the herd' type way. Answer directly about the James Randi test for supernatural powers. If you are a dowser and you believe you can do it why haven't you done the test? Would be the easiest million ever won.Because it's a load of rubbish
@chippychin Science is not flawed. To say this would suggest that the laws of the universe change in unpredictable ways, which has never been observed. The claim that science and religion are both flawed is a statement usually made by religious people that are trying to make excuses.
Wow, he showed us how dowsing for water works, or I guess doesn't work.
If the rod would have moved up or down, would you have dug to prove it worked?
Dowsing does NOT work. Why not submit to scientific testing then? Oh, wait, it has been tested scientifically, several times, it was discovered that it doesn't work. No better than chance would allow.
@UnderManiac I can't blame someone for taking the word of an official study. But, any scientist that says he doesn't know how it works, or says that it doesn't work, is pretty ignorant. Basic current flow, not really all that amazing. That being said, I've personally had no luck with the yoke, or oak branch. But, its pretty easy with two copper rods (welding rod thickness). The real kicker is finding the story behind the phenomenon. Hint-its not about IF it works. Coral Castle mystery vid.
@kfordjake75 Dowser believers always find different ways to explain how it works. None of their explanations can be supported. Dowsing does not work any better than chance would allow. When tested, dowsing gets not more positive hits than does pure guess work does. I'd dare you to have someone test your abilities. Using several opaque containers (with sealable lids) fill one, or a couple, with water and the rest with sand or something. Have someone else label them so the tester is unaware
The tester can't know which has what, to make it the most fair test. Have the tester record your findings. Do this several times (say 10 separate tests). Finally, open the containers and compare the true containers to your dowsing experiments. I'd accept such a test as a valid test. The water must be room temperature as not to reveal itself from condensation. The test has to be double blind on behalf of the tester ant the testee. Since the tester wouldn't know, he can't influence the test
Yes, exactly. Water is pretty abundant on this planet. And my advice to anyone who wants to use "dowsing" to find water: Do it yourself, don't pay anyone to do it. Because it's only superstition/delusion, nobody does it better than by guessing or whatever anyway. That has been proven over and over and over again. : )
I recently made a video where my niece and nephew test dowsing, I would like everyones input/opinions on the video. You can either paste /watch?v=8xCNDx-tB4o after youtube.com in your browser, or click my name and choose the video "skeptic investigations: CHILDREN TEST DOWSING" Thanks in advance.
Have you heard of Snipe hunting? This is a plumber's snipe joke on the apprentice. The plumber acts like he uses the rod to find an underground water pipe. He actually knows where it is by the indention on the ground from the original ditch. He then gets the apprentice to try it unsuccessfully several times and redicules him for not having the "touch". All the master plumbers get a big laugh afterwards on the stupidity of the student for believing such nonsense.
@martiwf0 did you hear the one about a master builder leaving an apprectice on a forklift while he extended it into the warehouse's rafters crushing his jaw against the forks and the top of his head against the ceiling. he went on his lunch break, and when he came back his teeth were pushed up into his bones and pints of blood had fallen down splattering everything nearby. disgustin
I saw this city worker come out to mark the utilities before we could finish the demolition at the site. I was surprised to see him pull out a dowsing rod and had a paint marker in the other hand and was walking around rather quickly marking all the lines. I had done it myself in the past and knew it worked but to see this city worker come out in his city uniform and start dowsing was a bit of a surprise. It was great.
btw, my people have an easier way with just the same probability of success (or better).
it goes like this:
1. take a largish disc (traditionally it would be a round rice sorting platter).
2. roll it on the ground
3. where the disc stop, there would be shallow water.
as proof of it's effectiveness, my father only had to dug 2 meters down before water came gushing out. but in the other hand, practically all well in the neighborhood were just as shallow.
Well done with the tech. Have a go at walking over some places of religion, In the UK the oldest churches are build over 'readings' . Keep walking sunshine.
your not full of shit thank you. Palms up to the sky good job. do you know how to use math to step off the depth of each vain of water? The circle of white witches in Missoula Montana know how. It's a dieing art you know.
A short explanation of how dowsing is supposingly working. Our interest is not in proving or disproving, how and why dowsing functions (or not), rather we are using dowsing as a /black box/ cultural technique. And given, that this technique (not a technology) is around since millenia, who are we to question it.
You, I and everyone has every right to question if this works or not. Thousands of people throughout the centuries have been and are often completely wrong about things. How dare you say we should not question it.
Why do people think this shit works? Are the deceitful? Dumb? Deluded? Srsly, wtf?!
