  • interesting! love his speech

  • Such a powerful person. Nobody in my family has ever gotten this specific disease, but my fathers side tends to have bad luck with cancer in general. Recently I've been worrying myself to death about pancreatic cancer, as I've been getting vague aches and a weird appetite lately (although I'm certain stress hasn't helped). But he gives me some relief, in a sense, because there's no point worrying about it, even if it's real. Worrying never helps, all you can do is help the cause.

  • He was so brave and wonderful. I wish his family a lot of strength and a long, happy lives.

  • Such a beautiful person and a dynamic human being. The world truly lost a great man.

  • Is he still alive ?

  • Unfortunately no.

    July 25th 2008 he died.

    May he RIP.

  • No, unfortunately he passed on. May he Rest in Great Peace.

  • My hero

  • may his soul rest in peace...great man ,ever met

  • We all strive for purpose in our lives. To become an advocate for others while on your own deathbed demonstrates a level of personal character most will never know. Randy has forever impacted my life. Thank you Randy for making a difference in this world. May God bless your soul and your family.

  • brave and heartbreaking. "this is my widow" ouch! i just wanna give them all my money for research!

  • As a survivor of cancer, I am in remission, melanoma, I can truly empathize with Dr.Pausch. Having taken medical disability, I have concentrated my effort& time on Pediatric Oncology/Hematology. Thank-you for your testimony Dr.Pausch, your voice shall be heard in the medical community and to all people. Peace

  • God Bless You....

    I sure You´ll be good....

    Merry Christmas

Thanks for share your experience with us.

    five stars for this

  • God bless you Randy and your family. You are an angel in heaven. My father is battling pancreatic cancer and he fights everyday. I pray there is more research and a cure in the future. Its a terrible agressive disease.

  • Randy was da man! God Bless you my hometown Pittsburgh friend!

  • Randy makes me see the bigger picture of life.

  • I wish i could be as strong as randy pausch was. this makes all my problems seem like nothing in comparison. rest in pease professor pausch. sailor8285

  • Hope you're enjoying the clouds friend!

May we all die so bravely.

  • I HOPE MY MOTER WILL SURVIVOR

  • I highly appreciate your words, love, patient, simplicity and your gentle behaviour.

I wish we had many of Randy in our world, because we need to be educated and encouraged properly. Randy, I swear on god that I miss you too much and whenever I watch your videos my heart goes out for you but I can not prevent myself from watching your interviews and lectures. I sincerely and humbly have special regards to his brave wife and lovely children. May god bless you Randy and your soul rest in peace.

  • Thanks Randy Pausch! I wish i had super powers to bring you back but we can not change God`s will. I wish everyone the best and i hope that we will make progress and find a cure.

Again, thanks Randy Pausch for changing my life!

I don`t have words to describe this man! :(

  • My father died of pancreatic cancer 4 months after his diagnosis. I am thankful for Dr. Pausch and the efforts he made to increase awareness of this disease. Research for this disease is significantly underfunded.

  • This isn't a place for hate, some of you people need to grow up.

  • You Go Randy

  • I think this man has done so much good in this world. He has opened our minds to a cancer, and make us think about it and make a change. After watching his last lecture I really understood his love for his family and his students and job. He is a great man and didnt deserve any of this. I could never say he was SELF CENTERED or his WIFE just wanted the MONEY. I garenttee his family would choose him over any money. I hope you feel ashamed zzzFATxxTONYzzz. You are just terrible!

  • zzFAxxTONYzzz.....you are one sick person. Probably someone who just waits for a situation like this to make everyone reply to your miserable existance. This is my last one, your not worth the time it takes so hit "send".

  • would stem cells have helped him?

  • As a woman widowed at 28 with a 6 month old and 2 1/2 year old, I know the pain and struggle that Mr. Paush's wife is feeling and will continue to feel every day as she tries to make the best decision for her children, by herself. He states he knows he will die, 100% sure. He is asking for help for the future patients of this horrible disease, NOT for himself. How the hell is that self centered? Godspeed Randy, you have touched my life and that of my children forever.

  • If you want to give to the pancreatic action network - where he has a fundraising page set up (for research, all of it) you can go to firstgiving dot calm forward slash randypausch

I hope to see that fund grow and grow in honor of this man's memory and in hopes of helping others who don't even know they have pancreatic cancer yet!

  • you were and still are a sparkling example of human pureness that we need more of in the world.

I wish your spirit well on its travel to the next plane.

  • What a brave man. It is one thing to be given a death sentence. It is another to use one's opportunity to use one's own imminent mortality as a goad to others to live, as Pausch did. He was courageous, and selfless. So admirable, so brave.

  • I have been watching all this for a long time.

As an thyroid cancer survivor from the age 16, this should be a warning for U.S. for its programs. Everything about medicine has been very capitalistic and this is true for in all aspects. (Medicine, Doctors and research)

I am not crying out for communism but for the farewell of humanity social medicine and research is only the just thing to do.

Farewell prof. Rest in peace. Hope on day humanity will understand every message you have left us.

  • Oh, please may you rest in peace Dr. You are an inspiration to all of us...

What a wonderful man you were.

I am so sad that you're no longer here.

May the angels in Heaven give you a little extra TLC, because you deserve it.

    :( :( :( :( :(

  • What a handsome man. This presentation took a lot out of him that day. He was very sick her. Rest in peace, Randy. Our thoughts go out to your dear family.

  • You seem like a fucking asshole. This guy just died you fuckwad

  • shut the fuck up if you can't understand his simple message.

  • waTCH HIS LAST LECTURE its 2 hour long but its worth it

  • I hope people listen to this and I hope something gets done in the future to fund it.

  • scientists - are really interested in finding medicine for cancer?

  • ridiculous comments. absurd and inaccurate.

  • reversed pancreatic cancer? what! i know a lot about the disease and you are 100% incorrect and actually what you spout is dangerous. this is an almost 100% fatal disease. the chemo, in this case, is not what kills. untreated it can kill within weeks. stop living in the clouds. and stop giving our ridiculous information.

  • Professor Pausch died at the age of 47 on July 25, 2008.

  • RIP Randy - 1960-2008

  • May god be with Jai and your children. You will never know how your family has changed so many other families lives for the better. You have showed us the true meaning of life. God Bless you. Jai, you are a wonderful mother. Randy's spirit lives on in you and your children. May god bless you.

  • Randy died early thins morning, Rest in Peace, I have followed your story and your battle is over RIP Dr Pausch

  • go f*ck yourself

  • Randy Pausch is an inspiration!

  • You are a very brave man and a great example. Bless you and your family

  • I was six when my father died at 36 of pancreatic cancer. Thank you So Much for the bravery with which you speak on behalf of those who are gone so fast they don't get a chance to.

    You are a hero.

  • I have pancreatic cancer myself. I applaud Randy's efforts at making more people aware of this disease. I hope that more funding comes available to help others who may be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the future.

  • This man belongs to present world... people please help him to live with us... so that he can serve this world... better than us..

  • God Bless you for all you have done.

  • I hope you're proud of yourself talking down on a hero like Randy Pausch, who is so utterly brilliant, brave, and articulate - three qualities you will likely never possess. He's not conceited in the least bit. He's passionate about what he does and lives for his wife and kids and is pursuing a noble and admirable cause. It's folks like Randy that lift the world up, and types like yourself that bring the world down.

  • Gracias por este video...es muy conmovedor y educativo...un gran tipo el Doctor un ser humano extraordianario

  • I wish you well. I watched my Nana die from this cancer back in 98 I was with her to the end it was peaceful. The thing I want to ask is where are you going to when you pass on. Eternity is more important than our brief existance here. May Jesus touch your heart now and for eternity you are doing much good here take care xxxx

  • i watched your lecture, and wish your family well

  • Un gran hombre, una gran enseñanza de vida, gracias.

  • every 1 gotta die someday this for instance many people dont realize this BUT this century every single one of us will die. sooner or later. life is not guaranteed so have fun dont regret nothing stay happy!:D

  • randy you are amazing.thanks!

  • God bless you.. Just watched you on Oprah.

A good example for peoples all over the world.

  • ancient traditions fighted cancer by taking rattle snake dry meat powder in capsules.

I don't know if you are still arround because we have it here in the USA.

let me know if I can help.

    take care.

    thank you.

  • it did not help them thn, so why should it help us now? please explain.

    ingrid.

  • I am not sure if the message was for me or not, but if it was for me I will tell you something, I lost a child, 2 years ago of colon cancer, doctors told us that he was going to die with in 6 months, he leave year and a half, he was doing ok with natural products, but wife was being push by doctors to put him in quimiotherapy, than 2 moths later he die.

when you are sick or dieing, you must never give up and try anything you can find.

take care and hope must never die with us.

  • yes, my response was for your comment and I am very impressed to hear your explainations for your view and I so much agree in that we never should give up believing. In the future we will overcome cancer if researchers get the foundings to work on solutions. I only wanted to point out that we should not believe in something that has proven not to work....

all the best to you and your family.

  • well, let me tell you another secret.

have you ever hear of the word of karma?

that's a natural law that we have in nature.

there is so many thigns beyond the 3 dimentional senses, but, you have to be open and prepare to receive that information.

there are 2 philosophy's one come from the sensorial mind (subjetive) the other one comes from the internal espiritual being, where we receive life and destiny, the second one can be experience when we prepare for it.

    take care

  • I hate the fact that people have to die!

  • The only difference between Randy and other "people" that just talk, comment...

Is that he is doing something, now if that something works or not is different, but he is making a difference by doing "something"

Randy you are so brave, and God bless your three babies and wife.

  • LOVE U RANDY!! Hope you live 4ever!!!

  • Wow talk about the wrong place for a political debate.

Anyways, it'd be nice to think this video might inspire bright young minds to look beyond where the research dollars are and hit this disease head on.

  • Chris79, although the content of the arguments presented by Hunkola and Danzigthe1 are ignorant and lack of content, I believe that politics are tightly related to this issue because it is politicians(unfortunately) who decide how our taxes get spent. I much rather cut the funding for the war(s) (Drug War, Terrorism War, Poverty War) and give it to researchers to cure cancer.

  • I agree that this kind of research is bigger than money, but the researchers need to feed their families as well. As a first world society, it should be a no-brainer that we fund such research. To ignore the problem would be uncivilized.

  • after randy passes away i think his name should be in history books

  • Randy Pausch....a god damn hero for our times....he's 1000 times the man that pathetic liar & war-monger George W. Bush will EVER be.....CASE CLOSED.

  • G.W. Bush is the most retarded President in history, as well as the biggest liar and war-monger. Retards like you voted him in, and now we all pay the price. Just wait until Obama becomes President...Bible-thumping idiots like you will crawl back under a rock where you belong and we can give America back to a great Democrat President like it should be. CASE CLOSED, dum-dum.

  • You just dont get it, do ya nimrod? We proud Democrats outnumber you retard Repubs by 2:1 and Obama WILL BE the next President...it is ordained by God himself. McCain will get toasted. The sweetest part is that all you Bible-thumpin' GOP retards will be on our hit list and forced to crawl back to the sewer where you all came from. How do you like them apples?

  • Lay off the unnecessary jingoistic conservatism. Your backwards and uninformed assessment of current administrative policy, i.e. "keep this country great" leaves me to believe your are either, 9 years old, 47 and uneducated, or that your entire comment was meant as satire.

  • And you seem to have a huge problem with me referring to our country as great. Why is that?

  • ... call patriotism into question; classic Fox News move.

  • Ummm, there really isn't a lot to digest.

He's got pancreatic cancer and is using his new found "celeb status" as a platform for panc Ca.

He definitely played the political card, which made his original lecture kind of false.

But he's playing the game he needs to play to get the funding. The worst part is he's right, its a matter of lack of funds.

  • by the way I'm not Mexican , I am Colombian and I think some harsh comments were made about immigrates that should be apologized. Just think of Randys original lecture ;)

The US is not the only country in the world, and you can see you need to pick up a couple of books (your firs two) to realize that.

I really hope he gets the funding :s

  • QUOTE And you seem to have a huge problem with me referring to our country as great. Why is that? /QUOTE

Well for one think it masks the problems, were back-slapping our children's futures into the grave. America needs to face some issues and fix them, after we fix them we can congratulate ourselves.

  • All of you need to take your political propaganda elsewhere. You are attempting to belittle a serious human condition. This is bigger than politics.

  • love and prayers for him and his family...

the pain will seem unbearable and cruel, but God

never gives us more than we can handle.

  • /watch?v=06yLsBXliQ8

  • With the stats on this disease being so grim, why doesn't he try an alternative therapy?

Check out the testimony of Patricia Ainey who used Gerson Therapy and cured herself of pancreatic cancer back in 1986. Actor Michael Landon used Gerson Therapy in 1991 for his pancreatic cancer and was getting good results until his doctor talked him out of it. He died shortly after.

The medical community has failed all with this disease, it's time to look elsewhere for the answers.

  • After most people are diagnosed, they are dead within 6 months.

  • He was first diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in September of 2006, it is now April 2008. So, that was 19 months ago. He has lived a lot longer than most patients. I am thinking that because he had a great job as a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, he probably has great health care, plus he was in good shape, didn't drink or smoke. I hope he makes it through another year, but doubtful.

  • His recurrence was September 07, and they gave him 3-6 months of health before a decline, and is now about 7 months... He is both fighting and living with the situation. What a lesson in bravery and humor.

  • Pancreatic cancer took my husband of 25 years, and father of 5. Shortly after being diagnosed, he came home with a small statue of Geronimo. On the base were the words, 'Never Say Die'. He fought this monstrous disease by entering a clinical study. Two chemos were administered every other week until he died at 30 months. I am ashamed to say I had given up on pancreatic cancer research. Until today. You can count on my contribution, Randy. Tell PANCAN their motto should be, 'Never Say Die'.

  • God Speed Randy

  • Randy hasn't updated his health page for a week, that's unusual. I have a feeling he isn't doing very well at all.

  • where do you find his health page where he posts his updates??I am praying he is still okay..

  • He was hospitalized right before this video, and once since. They are treating congestive heart and liver problems with diuretics and blood pressure medicine put he's hanging in there (as of 4/27).

This is from his website, which you can find by Googling "Randy Pausch".

  • I've been tracking Randy ever since he gave the speech at Carnegie. I lost my aunt to Pancreatic Cancer last year and I know what a terrible disease it is. He puts on such a brave face during this interview and I can only see how desperate he is for time as he has none really left. I hope he knows the impact he's had on so many of us that have gone through this and how much we're thankful for his bravery to bring light to such a terrible cancer.

  • Very moving testimony.

The US spends $500 billion on the military a year, so there should be a lot of money to fund research.

  • Though your humility may not allow you to think of yourself as AMAZING, Randy Pausch, you truly are a man of great passion, and you & your lovely family have touched the hearts of many people! Your outreach has indeed raised awareness. Please know that your brevity in this arena will have the kind of percussion that it needs to make a difference; YOU will make a difference! Thank you so much for using your talents to do so. Shari Olson

  • Thanks Randy, I have three children also. Will(4), Gio(3) and Dale(1). Gio has a cape too. Super Gio!

  • I think Randy Pausch is absolutely amazing.

  • Randy, thank you for everything you are doing to increase funding. I wish I could have met you at Advocacy Day. I wish you the very best, always.

  • We have been dealing with a very advanced, rare form of Pancreatic Cancer for 3 years now....this changes everything forever.

Thanks Randy for helping to put a face of Pancreatic cancer that some may relate to...thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

    Michael

  • this man is truly amazing, and strong as hell! imagine someone like him for President, instead of the scumbag Shrub we have...even a dead man would do a better job as President though..

  • Swayze is still smoking cigs, he'll be dead by the end of the year, guaranteed.

  • Pausch seems like a nice guy, hopefully he makes it through the year to celebrate all his kids birthdays and the Holiday Season

  • If you guys didn't know, pancreatic cancer is the same cancer Patrick Swayze has been recently diagnosed with and its also the same cancer which killed Michael Landon less than 3 months after he was diagnosed back in the 80's.

  • Have you tried the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation? If anyone or any group could help with funding, I would think it would be them.
