@SIXSTRING63 thank you i found it.. btw how rude of me not to compliment you on your surpeb playing on this track. i plan on trying to learn this and steal a few licks from you!
@Makaroni57 No pedal on this video. Just plugged straight into an old Line 6 POD 2.0 on the modern high gain setting with a 4-12 cabinet simulator and that is it.
Gorgeous mate ! really moving... Not fair or right to say any one piece of music is the best....thats like arguing one's favourite color ! but of all LC style videos, this piece would have to be 'my' favourite at the moment ! It has inspired me to continue playing again !
Haven't read through all the posts so maybe this has already been answered...but what's with the two toggle switches? Did it come like that or did you mod it? And what's the purpose? Great playing and tone man. All your videos sound great!!
Hey Mike, Just listened in again.......Damn your stuff is sooooo tight. WOW can not hear this without wantin to pick up a guitar. Where or how can I get the backin track? I would appreciate it if you'd fill me in. KEEPON STRUMMIN.......DALLAS.. PS what part of the country you from. ( I'm from Brooklyn NY)
what was your approach for this improvisation? scales, arpegios? all of the above? and another question jej, why does your guitar has two switches? cheers!
Yeah ,a little of everything . There was really not much thought put in , just winged it. The 2nd switch is a coil tap that came stock ,some of these late 70's models had them. Thanks
Hey Six, that was beyond great if ever I heard great.............nuff said Dude! You rock.......5 stars.Subscribed.KEEPON STRUMMIN..............DALLAS
WOW great playing and your sound is excellent...man a great Dot Neck PAF vibe...and thanks to you I'm adding a brand new Fat Neck 335 to my stable..lol..have a '58 Les Paul Historic, 50th Anniv. '56 Strat relic and a Martin D-28...keep playing and post some more
Thanks a lot Bro. The PU's are a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a Duncan Pearly Gates in the neck. The amp is just an old Line6 POD 2.0 modeling recording pre-amp.
Both this vid, and the ''siglecoil blues'' are great! love your style, man! sometimes you play a form of scale, or arp that makes me dribble... right at 0:10 in this vid, and about 0:40 to 1:00 in the Sigle Coil Blues vid.. what is that?!?
Wow...You're really great...I think that I will Impro with a fusion style like yours when I'll be 80 years old!!!Really great... Soon I will Post in a few days an impro on a blues backing track...I will be thankful if you'll post a comment...Sorry 4 my english...
Man, That's about as tastey and well done as I have seen and heard on here! Maybe even better! You've been playin 30 years and working at it every day to have feel and presence like that. That axe sounds just perrfect on this! Original (stock)? Please don't stop. Regards//KP
I am looking for a hollowbody and would love one that played and sounded like that! Any great value ones you would recommend? I'll certainly keep those PU's in mind if it just doesn't move me like your sound! Sad part is I want a LP and Strat too LOL. But when I hear something that sounds like that.....
Excellent Job! I need to know what kind of gear your using. The guitar sounds warm and tonal, I'm tryin to get something similar.......you sound great, a wonderful performance. ive consumed a great deal of beer watching the Yankees also!
Thanks a lot for the nice comment.I'm just playing into an old Line 6 POD 2.0 into a digital 16 track recorder/mixer and then direct into the camera mic input. The patch on the POD is my edit of the modern high gain patch. Mike
Thanks again Mate ! I have to get off my ass and do another vid soon . It is Baseball season here in the states and I've been spending a lot of time drinking beer and watching the NY Yankees ! LOL. Mike
Larry was the reason I bought my first 335 too. It's a shame he's not the player anymore that he used to be though. Back in the 70's he ruled. His records in recent years just haven't had much to them.
I agree the first was the best, and Strikes Twice was almost as good. He really started going downhill after Sleepwalk.
Actually he had two albums prior to the self-titled one. One of them was called Larry Carlton Plays and Sings (I never could find that one) and the other was With a Little Help From My Friends. He played a hollow body on it, very Wes Montgomeryish. I think it came out in 74.
Yeah it does look like a 347,but definitely a 335.Some of the late '70s block inlay ES335TDs had the coil split switch on them. The inlay on a 347 are like those of a Les Paul Custom. The jazz guitarist I took lessons from in the early '80s had a 347 while I had this 335 and I remember comparing the differences of the two. Mike
Why are you doing this to me?I'm trying to recover from two broken wrists and resume my guitar playing but then I find something like this on the net and woosh, down the drain...Seriously now,I wish I had two more thumbs!Wonderful!
