  • I still play the sound track from this musical...Anita was one of the reasons I wanted to do musical comedy....what a talent!

  • The songs on the Broadway cast album are terrific, but I hate the Toronto version of this show. Was the Broadway version ever filmed? If so, I wish somebody would upload it or release it on DVD.

  • RIP - Doug Henning

i've still got the crystal elephant they got me; cause i couldn't figure out

what happened to the elephant ;)

  • James Douglas Dart of United Media Studios, Thornhill, Ontario, Canada,

brought in a 24 track recording studio, on a truck, to do this movie

which was the first time, to my knowledge, that anyone, ever did anything like that

i wish, i could remember, the exact year ~ and, i wonder, if i still have my copy

of the whole film, the movie was shot live for 3 days with a live audience,

quite an undertaking at that time - at the toronto exhibition grounds

  • Was'nt she from North Carolina? seems I remember reading that.I'm from Raleigh

  • Anita Morris is one and only carla from nine nobody can touch her !

  • GREAT PAIR OF LEGS

  • What a TALENT and BEAUTY she was!!! I miss her so!! xxooo to Anita in Heaven!!!

  • I remember delivering fliers door to door in Toronto for 'Spellbound', which I think was before The Magic Show. Still have the autographed program from the show, and the original artwork for the Spellbound poster. He was quite a talent indeed!

  • OMG! I didn't know until after reading the messages that Anita Morris had passed on. How tragic for such a young and talented woman!

  • Boy, I love seeing this! The Magic Show was the 1st broadway show I ever saw and it sparked my interest in magic. Thanks so much for posting this ... I do have the DVD, which is nothing like the original show, but it still brings fond memories.

  • Do you know how they pulled this off in the real live Broadway show? Did she contort her body in the one half of it?

  • @rlee1976 - Yes she did. It was very entertaining to see her hold conversation while she was in the one box. (of course, at 6 years old ... the age I was when I saw it ... I was mesmerized).

  • Life is amazing. 35 years after staging "The Magic Show" on Broadway (and being married to Anita Morris), I see this vid for the very first time. Thanks for posting it. It's on its way to the rest of the family right now!

  • I´m so happy that you commented and enjoyed it! It´s still on sale on Amazon if your interested - in full colour ;-)

    Thank you...

  • Grover-

Thanks so much for your work. As a broken down dancer it's fun to look back. I've never forgotten how spectacular Anita was. She's still very missed.

    peace

  • Groverd-

Your wife was an amazing talent-absolutely brilliant.

  • @groverd

Your wife was a gift to this world, although I am crying, she is giving me joy watching this every time!

  • Interesting. Thanks for posting.

This is the filmed version of The Magic Show which made MANY changes from the Broadway version, including the song that Anita Morris sang in the original show which was called "Charmin's Lament" . It's on the original B'way cast album. Much better song (IMO) than this one. I wonder why they changed the songs in this version ? They seem to do that in a lot of filmed versions of B'way shows.

  • Thanks,Anita was amazing!
