And ofcourse the commercial started with this woman saying she has owned Honda, Toyota and Nissan's but prefers her new Ford over those other 3 car makers, which are all obviously way better quality vehicles then the Ford. Would one or two miles per gallon reallu make me buy a Ford, or Dodge or Chev over a new Toyota or Honda, i doubt it!

the 2009 F-150's kind of went backwards in offset safety. The 2004-2008 scored all good across the board in an offset crash according to the IIHS and even though the 2009 F-150 scored Godd overall in the offest crash test, it earned an acceptable rating in the right and left foot-wells where the 2004-2008 scored good in this area. Kind of odd that an older model does better then a newer model in the same test at the same speed.
Yes this car is safe, but one tip. NEVER listen to the word "stars" because they can be misleading. This is full frontial crash testing. FULL FRONTIALS SUCK. they use stars. Offset testing is in the IIHS. listen to them because their tests are more realistic. (good,acceptable,marginal,poor) You will know what I mean by looking up the Pontiac Transport NHTSA test against the IIHS's test.

That is not at all true, it would only be a 70 MPH collision if the barrier was driving towards the car at 35 MPH as well as the 35 MPH car. You have it backwards. Two cars hitting head on, each traveling 35 MPH is like one car hitting a stationary wall at 70 MPH.
Delsoracer is right, this type of crash test is like two pickup trucks crashing into each other when they are each traveling at 17 mph. Every car should pass that kind of crash test.
Wrong 2001, this test is like a truck hitting a brick wall. Completely different from two trucks hitting each other. The wall doesn't give as much as the trucks do.
Yea, but if it was to hit another truck with bullbars on the front, to mimic the speed that this truck is doing here, each truck would only be doing 17mph. 17 + 17 = 34, any automobile should be able to pass this test.

If a car/ suv/ etc fails this type of crash test, then I would be surprised that the door doesn't fall off when they close it. This is the easiest type of crash test to pass.

Also this new generation is only built to pass the crashtest in the front, and is only in a commercial because of the public outrage in the poor previous designs. This new F-150 fails its rear crashtest and by far has the weakest roof structure of any truck on the market. Please don't let ford fill your head with lies, do your own research, its all online for the public, make a well informed and educated decision when purchasing a new vehicle.

That test is done at 40 MPH across only 40 percent of the front end. You ever noticed all truck T.V.adds are generated toward Ford trucks? and they always compare their highly optional truck against Fords "standard" F-150? That is not at all true, it would only be a 70 MPH collision if the barrier was driving towards the car at 35 MPH as well as the 35 MPH car. You have it backwards. Two cars hitting head on, each traveling 35 MPH is like one car hitting a stationary wall at 70 MPH.

Yea, but if it was to hit another truck with bullbars on the front, to mimic the speed that this truck is doing here, each truck would only be doing 17mph. 17 + 17 = 34, any automobile should be able to pass this test.
Read what Delsoracer said, but only one of the trucks would crumple, not both.

And the Toyota most certainly did pass this test, it got 4 out of 5 stars. Which means their is a 10% to 20% chance of seeing any injury in this accident.

If a car/ suv/ etc fails this type of crash test, then I would be surprised that the door doesn't fall off when they close it. This is the easiest type of crash test to pass.
How often does a crash involve hitting a brick wall head on where the entire front end of the car hits the wall? You need to research some information about 40% frontal offset crash tests, that will explain a bit more to you.

Also this new generation is only built to pass the crashtest in the front, and is only in a commercial because of the public outrage in the poor previous designs. This new F-150 fails its rear crashtest and by far has the weakest roof structure of any truck on the market. Please don't let ford fill your head with lies, do your own research, its all online for the public, make a well informed and educated decision when purchasing a new vehicle.

This crashtest is only at 35 MPH across the entire front end. The real test of structural integrity is conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That test is done at 40 MPH across only 40 percent of the front end. The new F-150 passes that test but only because the previous generation of F-150 killed 185,000 people in frontal collisions at less than 40 MPH.

As soon as I see that the crash test rating the they state for an automobile is one that has been tested using the useless entire front end style, I immediately think, hmmm, they are not reporting what the IIHS or NCAP got for this car, really, how safe is this car? check out the (2004 to 2007 m.y.) offset crash then. I agree - Ford effed up when they used the full frontal test in the commercial rather then the offset one, because the current truck did well in the offset tests.
