In 1857, either sikhs sided East India company to suppress freedom fighters. 1857 revolt is just one example, on numerous occasions, sikhs helped British suppressing freedom struggles in India and in other countries as well.

I figured out the problem with you. You are living in the past. You need to drag your ass to the 21st century. Sikhs, be they in the US, Canada, UK or especially India do not give a shit about their religion anymore.
They figured it out. Not shaving your hair or pubes (especially girls) is just gross and wearing a 10 meter long piece of cloth on your head doesn't make you smarter or look better but only warms your head. More than 95% of the world does not wear a turban. They r fine.

2. As people today no longer remember the sacrifices of those (i.e. for example, the Sikhs) who were as much a part of the allied war effort as any other nationality\ethnicity, it becomes important to remind them about what the facts are, and about their historical importance. And this is something to be definitely proud of.

I'm sure the IRA, the Taliban, and the Israelis and Palestinians recognize their fallen before anyone else's. This is just a part of the evolution of ethnic/national communities or units that develop a martial ethos that is in turn shaped by their respective geopolitical histories.
