The toughest SOB I ever met during my military service (Army) was an Air Force Pararescueman. It takes a real pair of stones to do what they do. That probably accounts for why 12 of the 22 Air Force Crosses awarded to enlisted men went to Pararescuemen. The school takes 2 years to complete and includes Their training includes airborne, free fall, Air Force Combat Dive School, Navy Underwater Egress, Basic Survival, EMT-Paramedic Training and the Pararescue Recovery Specialist Course.
All of the armed forces serve their part of serving and protecting this country. And with out all the other forces, some of the Navy Seals missions would have failed. All of the men over seas put their lives on the line, not just the Navy Seals.

@RipFlm Well thankfully they accept people who classify as nuke with an ASVAB of 94 and who pass the PST with beyond optimum scores. At least SEAL is what it will say on my contract. I just gave to prove to them I can make it through PrepSchool, BUDs and Phase I-III. After that it's SQT and a team.

@stefangcc from what I see around the internet is that SEALs hell week is worse. Plus recon isn't even in the same tier as the Navy SEALs. Recon is tier 3 SEALs are tier 2. Drop out rate for recon is 60% SEALs drop rate is 70-80%
@eamster11 BUDS was budsss SQT (post BUDS) was another story. Not sure what your talking about? recon? 0321? there is advance Reconnaissance marines. Are you talking about them? They are good people! Seal training is longer then 6 months. Post BUDS Was 24 wks- SQT 28 wks- my specialty traing post SQT was 26 wks. Then I joined my seal team. I used to be a HM 8404 / 0321. Both are good people and if interested I'd enjoy talking!

Although the Marines started out as a Naval unit, they later moved on to more land-based operations, and became an entire seperate branch of military from the Navy and the Army. So the US has the Army, Navy, Airforce, AND Marines. Among them are special forces from each branch, i.e. Army Delta Force, Navy SEALS, Airforce Rangers, and Marine Recon.

I served 22 years with US Army Special forces, all of it on a Team, starting with the 10th SFGA. I worked with a lot of men in other units like Recon, and SEALs. ALL have good men.
@DIJV79 That's static line. SEALs used to go to Benning upon BUD/S graduation to become static line qualified (not sure if they still do), but after in SQT learn HALO/HAHO techniques. You'll never see a SEAL Team insert by static line. Really, it's just a baseline skill they breeze over so they can get over the advanced free fall skills. Oh, and they don't learn free fall at Benning, so your point while cute, doesn't really mean much because they never even use that skill.
This cadence is re-written for all branches. Is what it is. And if anyone thinks SF/Ranger/seal/recon, etc...really give a damn about this stuff then they are sadly wrong. We are consummate professionals. We realize we work as a team, and each person in all branches service in all occupations are just a part of 1: the U.S. Military. The toughest, most powerful fighting force on earth. Nuff said.

@stefangcc from what I see around the internet is that SEALs hell week is worse. Plus recon isn't even in the same tier as the Navy SEALs. Recon is tier 3 SEALs are tier 2. Drop out rate for recon is 60% SEALs drop rate is 70-80%

@eamster11 BUDS was budsss SQT (post BUDS) was another story. Not sure what your talking about? recon? 0321? there is advance Reconnaissance marines. Are you talking about them? They are good people! Seal training is longer then 6 months. Post BUDS Was 24 wks- SQT 28 wks- my specialty traing post SQT was 26 wks. Then I joined my seal team. I used to be a HM 8404 / 0321. Both are good people and if interested I'd enjoy talking!

@crazymidget96 ...no they're not. The SEAL's are the Navy's Special Forces.
Although the Marines started out as a Naval unit, they later moved on to more land-based operations, and became an entire seperate branch of military from the Navy and the Army. So the US has the Army, Navy, Airforce, AND Marines. Among them are special forces from each branch, i.e. Army Delta Force, Navy SEALS, Airforce Rangers, and Marine Recon.

Special Forces is the Army's group of Special Operations fighters, while the SEAL's are the Navy's.
Special Operations encompasses all of the branches, while Special Forces is only the Army.

I served 22 years with US Army Special forces, all of it on a Team, starting with the 10th SFGA. I worked with a lot of men in other units like Recon, and SEALs. ALL have good men.

@DIJV79 That's static line. SEALs used to go to Benning upon BUD/S graduation to become static line qualified (not sure if they still do), but after in SQT learn HALO/HAHO techniques. You'll never see a SEAL Team insert by static line. Really, it's just a baseline skill they breeze over so they can get over the advanced free fall skills. Oh, and they don't learn free fall at Benning, so your point while cute, doesn't really mean much because they never even use that skill.

This cadence is re-written for all branches. Is what it is. And if anyone thinks SF/Ranger/seal/recon, etc...really give a damn about this stuff then they are sadly wrong. We are consummate professionals. We realize we work as a team, and each person in all branches service in all occupations are just a part of 1: the U.S. Military. The toughest, most powerful fighting force on earth. Nuff said.

It'd be nice if every facet of every US military had a poet like Barry Sadler! Then, everyone would be happy in war; and, then, find a way to argue amongst ourselves in peace, which is better than war!
