Live long and prosper with the Force at your side!
Star Trek II is the cinema pinnacle of "Star Trek" and how so fitting with it such resplendent and brilliant musical prowess within that courtesy of a genius James Horner!!
ST2: TWOK is by far the best of the Star Trek series (followed closely by ST6). The difference of course is Nicholas Meyers. Meyers stated he was so disappointed that they wanted to bring Spock back from the dead in ST3 that he didn't want to direct it, but eventually came back for ST6. Taking nothing away from Shatner or Nimoy, but ST3-5 when pale in comparison to ST2 & 6. I can watch them anytime.
I got this LP right here. It is very rare and i wount say how much it his worth ( a lot).

I dream of being a starship captain in a parralel universe in the 26th century and having a prototype warship kinda like the prometheus class but alot bigger

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hey all028, look at chronic 1's comment "Some fool, instead of commenting on it, tried to make it into yet another dull and repetative Star trk vs star wars arguement"
He completely missed your point about not starting an arguement. Many people commented without having an arguement.
And that's where you are wrong. Just because I asked the Star wars vs Star Trek question doesn't mean it has to be an arguement. If you look back, there were several people who answered and no debate came out of it.
pdynamics1, don't bother. ChronicOne is stupid. Nobody is talking about Star wars vs Star trek; yet, he goes on and on about how we care which one is better. All of us agree it is ChronicOne's lack of response to your question "If he doesn't care, then why did he bother responding to which one was better?"
I already answered your point in that the conversation STARTS when you respond since the question was not directed at you...Nobody knew you existed until you responded.
LOL! You lost this conversation, pal. Nobody here agrees with you.
YOU FINALLY understand what all of us are saying. The better thing to say is "If you don't care, then why did you bother RESPONDING to all028's question if you don't give a shit."
You said I started this conversation. I say no I didn't. So to that, you say, YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND! I finally understand I didn't start this conversation? No, I knew that all along.
1. I said "FINALLY understand US." Three of us were saying the same thing except you
2. I noticed you never responded to the question "If you don't care, then why did you bother responding to the question." Typically, if I don't care about something, I just ignore it....
all028 was NOT arguing about star trek vs star wars. He said YOU started the conversation since you responded to the question. The conversation starts when you respond since the question was not directed at you
pdynamics1 was saying that if you didn't care, then why respond? It makes no sense
My comment wasn't directed at pd, it was a statement. When the first person replied with insults, THAT was when all this got started. Don't believe me? Go back and look.
Oh, I believe you. I've been following this since the beginning. Where I don't agree with you is the conversation STARTS when you respond to all028 with "who gives a shit"
The statement was NOT directed at pd like you said. But that doesn't change the fact that you were talking about Star trek vs star wars while he was asking "If you didn't care, then why respond?"
The question is rhetorical as I think arguing Star Trek vs. Star Wars is childish and a waste of time!
This video is about Star Trek and it's music, not Star Wars v. Star Trek. When I see someone trying to start that lame flame bait argument in this thread I decided to comment on it. Big deal, if you like the fact that ol' boy wants to start a flame war in here.. so be it. I think it's just petty.
It is clear you think its a waste of time. But, typically, if I don't care about something, I just ignore it. By responding, it shows that you do CARE and you did START the conversation. That's the contradiction and that's why they are trying to say....
The contradiction is not on Star trek vs Star wars. The contradiction is a response to something you feel is a waste of time. For example, why did you even WASTE 5 seconds responding when it's a waste of time to begin with
I never said it was a waste of time arguing whether or not Star Trek Vs Star Wars is a waste of time... I said that the argument of Star Wars vs Star Trek itself is a waste of time.
Actually you did. Here it is: "I'm sorry the fact that I don't think arguing about Star Trek vs. Star Wars is anything but a waste of time pisses you off."
What the hell are you talking about?!? You say you did not say it but frnksng quotes you directly. In fact, I'd say you owe frnksng an apology since you told him to work on his reading comprehension.
Yes, I threw out the question but I never directed it at you. In fact, I never knew you existed until now. Therefore, the conversation STARTS when you respond.
You didn't have to respond if you didn't care like pdynamics1 said
This is what pdynamics1 said and is his point: "Dude you are the one who said who gives a shit. If you don't care, then why did you start this conversation?"
Nerds and idiots have argued it round and round for years. People with common sense don't give a rats ass "which is better" they know what they like and like what they know.
Funny how this was when Horner was considered an untested movie scorerer. After this and Glory, he's basically put himself as one of the best at his job now.
Still prefer Goldsmith's score for ST TMP even if it is for a slow moving, non-action, rather cerebral film and Horner's score is for a far more exciting and emotional film. Goldsmith's score is more science fiction and Horner's is more heroic naval in style. Horner is obviously very talented, but does have the habit of repeating elements of his previous socres and he does owe a debt to Goldsmith. Would have loved if Goldsmith had been retained for Aliens & STII, but Horner did great work.
thielden, I wonder if film composers always do their best work on the first big epic score they're hired for. I'm thinking of Horner's STII, Goldsmith's Wind & Lion and Howard Shores score for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It seems sometimes that they put all their energy and imagination into their first big epic scores and some never quite reach the same heights again.....maybe because the results were so good and that they've sort of 'been there/done that'...exceptions exist of course.
Does anybody know who performed this? It's not the original soundtrack recording... The orchestra is dreadful. Superb piece though! And stop referring to James Horner in the past tense -- he's still alive and still writing film music! :D
Star Trek II's ending orchestral music score remains one of the Best scores overall, I could listen to this Awesome masterpiece indefinitely. Thanks Lucas Spade.
Probably one of the best Trek movies, EVER! The whole score was icing on the cake.

Funny how this was when Horner was considered an untested movie scorerer. After this and Glory, he's basically put himself as one of the best at his job now.

And now he just seems to repeat himself to the point that it's sad. After Bravehart he simply would write variations on that amazing score.

Would have loved if Goldsmith had been retained for Aliens & STII, but Horner did great work.

i always liked to hear the similarities in composers' different works. Wrath of Khan vs. Aliens and things like Predator vs.Van Helsing

Horner's star trek music is a symphonic master piece. I can't wait to see what he has in store for james camerons avatar.

thielden, I wonder if film composers always do their best work on the first big epic score they're hired for.

True he is very much alive and active composing.
As far as I knew it was the original soundtrack. But I'm not precisely sure from the recording I have uploaded on itunes.

James Horner was one of the most brilliant orchestra conductors and this theme proves it.
