Computer reflashing? With updated code or the same code (as in a...um, let's try this first and see if this works). Check the clearance for what? You mean something is worn out and you're going to stuff a shim in as a fix. Yeah, I would be satisfied with that. I'm such a happy camper now.

@CarLover2011 The shim isnt to make up for the wear, its to put it to the zone where no more wear on said bushing will occur. As for the ECU reflashing what it does is it makes it so that if the brake and gas pedals are both pressed simultainiously it will cut power to the engine.

You may love cars but you know very little about them and the issue.

Also 99% of the actual stuck accelerator pedal incidents were caused by people layering aftermarket floor mats and it getting stuck on them.

@Canuckerz I never stated that any components were actually worn, yet you used the word "wear" in your response. Worn out is another way of saying that the device has deteriorated and is in need of repair or has been used until no longer useful. You are right; I know so very little about cars. I was completely ignorant of the fact that that Toyota (and others) were stupid enough to leave the brake override system out. My 2008 car includes this feature.

@CarLover2011 Yes you said worn. Furthermore the brake overide system was not there from factory because the brakes are designed to be able overpower the engine to bring the vehicle to a stop, and is therefore unnessessary to those who know how to operate a motor vehicle properly.

In my opinion it was put there just to throw the consumer a bone who didnt beleive that simple fact, or simply were afraid of pressing it hard enough to actually bring the car to a halt.

@CarLover2011 My point is the brake override system isnt a nessessary safety feature on any properly designed car, they likely left it out in the first place as it interferes with heel toe braking. And I fail to see the major difference in your definition of worn out compared to wear, seems to just be splitting hairs to me.

If it was not a minor glitch show me the proof that it isnt, the actual stuck accelerator problem originated from people using bulky and sometimes several improper mats.

@Canuckerz We can spend lots of time debating the chicken or the egg thing (if you want). There were two issues: floor mat entrapment and a worn out pedal assembly. These are both issues that required remediation.

As for heel-toe braking, just think of all of those performance-oriented Mom and Dad Camry drivers on their way to the shopping mall with their kids. How would they cope without being able to perform this essential driving technique? I doubt Toyota is concerned with this.

But, GM doesn't use Hyundai's engines or anything of the sort. General Motors has never and probably will never own nor be affiliated with Hyundai Motors.

Most American cars don't even have it. Sync is useless, so you can have it. It isn't even that useful. Your diesel truck is powered by petroleum based fuel. Its technology was developed in the mid-late 1800's and is only 40% efficient. Electric cars are 80% efficient.

What you are referring to is an Electronic Control Unit which is not to be confused with an Electronic Control Module. The production process for your truck is dirtier than you might wish to admit. Your truck isn't even made out of carbon fiber or some other lightweight and strong material, it is just nasty ass steel and sheet medal that is derived from Iron that is a natural resource thus non renewable.
