Well played. It`s a shame that this guy doesn`t play his own music. What is it with classical musicians, only playing what`s written many years ago? Classical music is like the art of copying. It demands a lot of practicing, but let`s face it: the musicians creates nothing that`s not beeing said before. I like the music, don`t get me wrong, but it`s still "cover"-versions of Chopin and the other great composers. I`ve played Chopin, Debussy, myself - still it`s a detour to make my own music :)
@svartdahl A very strange comment. I assume that it's meant to be tongue in cheek. Musicians play great music due to it being great. Simple as that. There are lots of people today composing music.
@svartdahl The aim of the job of classical pianists (and other instru) is to keep alive musics which have been created several centuries ago, and if these works are still played now, it’s not by random but because they’re out of the commun run and deserve to not be forgotten.
If your own music is as good as these composers’s one, it will be still played in many centuries.
@caricama Well either way, this is not about a revolution, it is Chopin's anger, frustration, misery and well ... you know all those negative emotions due to the lost polish revolution against Russia. So basically your inteprentation is by far not wrong in anyway, but neither is this pianist's :)
Very clean and cut approach to this piece. I noticed his phrases and rationality inside this piece was very clear and vivid. Technically speaking his execution in every corner is certainly something to be proud of. Personally, I think this sounds a lot like Ricthers. Truely he likes this etude and I'm glad he shared it with such boldness.
But, I would also like to point out, that this etude is very hard to play musically for Pianists and composers. One of the many interpretations I say.
I love how he just plays it. The piece plays itself. Awesome performance and he plays it as a "whole". His Bach A Minor Prelude from the English Suite is excellent, too. He nails the Bach style and lets the music do the talking.
I can't really be one who speak for all, but actually, Yundi Li (A Chinese Pianist) won the International Chopin Competition in 2000, I think. And most of his recordings of any music are considered to be quite emotional indeed - such as "Fantasie-Impromptu". Lang Lang, actually, has too much expression on many counts - many say that he exaggerates all his expression too much in too great contrast.
This is the ultimate rendition of this piece! Full of passion and yet with subtle tenderness! I have listened to it three times already and I will come back to listen! Amazing pianist, I am a JF Neuburger fan already! Thank you for posting!

Obviously a good concert pianist...but...he just doesn't have Kissin's left hand power with the fingers.

Cancama is absolutely right. Neuburger should use half an hour to listen to Arrau or Richter. Genius is a long patience.

in too much of hurry. calm down. revolution is not about storming. it's about planning in advance and being patient.
caricama 2 years ago
@caricama Do you really think that this piece reflects the planning stages of a revolution??
langlois1 2 years ago
by "planning in advance," I meant utilizing the plan itself during the revolution. Excuse my lack of linguistic skills

Nothing special.I know a bunch of Japanese ans Chinese who can do this better.Without all the extra movements.
abmsghost 3 years ago
yes, but they normally lack emotion. the chinese and the japanese normally have no emotion whasoever, just technique.
