  • How about welding a FEMA barrel that is cut in half, under retort barrel. Take you Big pile of shit and stick it in the half FEMA barrel. Maybe weld a 3/4" pipe to add gasses to the lower barrel to give it more fuel.

  • I loved your video! Next time the Agriculture teacher forgets to log off his computer, I'm showing THAT video! Kids'll love it, for sure.

    Signed, The Crazy Substitute.

  • My dick's a redneck too!

  • Will it work to make hookah coals???

  • Why did you light the fire before you had the retort on?

  • LMAO!! On 1:24 he almost burnt himself ='P hahahahaha... ''oh, whoah'' :D

  • Nice video, I learned something today, thanks.

  • Since your using 2"x4"'s, what about cutting the pieces 3 1/2" long? They would be a little more uniform. The thickness would only be 1 1/2"s but it might work a little better.

  • you got a big pile of shit?I thought you were going to be using wood?

  • thank you very much for up-loading this video I always wanted to know how to make charcoal

  • Why don't people just use wood? dumb.

you waste energy converting to charcoal.

  • @Thetruthishere11 charcoal burns cleaner at use. so your BBQ won't be tainted, your forge won't kill you and if you use it for power it burns hotter and thus more efficiently.

  • @stupidnamenoonecares

cooking over well cooked wood embers isn't dirty. Is it?

  • @Thetruthishere11 it's cleaner than cooking over wood, so if you want cooked without smoked then you use charcoal. once you have charcoal you have rid the fuel of impurities, and there is very little ash produced when you burn it.

i can see how you might think it's wasteful but in reality it's called biofuel and is in fact a renewable and fairly carbon neutral fuel. it's production is limited to how fast you can farm trees though. (plantation farm )

  • watch?v=LqI63IEg3MM&feature=related

  • that looks like a bomb.

  • rednecks dont come eco my whole family is a bunch of rednecks and none of us go out of our way to be eco we will if it conveinent

  • thank you i find it very helpful ....God bless

  • Dude, I don't know whether to insult your stupidity or to praise your ingenuity but damn, I like your style.

  • `are you jeknexus?

  • helmetless welder... what a great idea!...!

  • Whats the point in making charcoal if you have wood and gasoline anyway?

  • Um. That barrel you made... take that and put a blower on it... put some trash in the bottom of the barrel and light it on fire.. add wood.. turn blower on.. and you could make 10xs the charcoal you made there in just the first 3 hours im sure. You completely over complicated the whole ordeal lol.

  • "So what I've got right here is a pile of shit "

  • did you go blind

  • haha "what I got here is a big pile of shit" Well done

  • IS it possible to use only gas from the wood as the heat source to make the charcoal?

was wondering, for every cubic foot of wood gas which is burnt, how many cubic feet of wood gas could be created from that heat ?

  • too smart to be a red neck :O

  • Lol ,what I got here is a big pile of shit. 0:38

  • Dude, you're awesome, I love you! (no, not like that)

  • awesome video are you still making videos? thumbs up for your clothes in this one. pile of shit.. lol

  • That a "big pile of shit" can heat my garage, the winery and make fuel for the lawnmower. Try using a "gallon" of gas and then wait about 2 or 3 minutes before you throw the match on it. I know...it's juvenile but the kids love watching it rain "wood scraps"...LOL...Plus you usually get a couple of barbequed grinny squirrells. Also try a 35 gal drum inside a 55 gal. It kinda acts like an oven and it's easier to controll the 35 gals temp. I'm no Einstien...LOL....I discovered it by accident.

  • @KTVKENYA you sure about that, in my gasifer you can shut it down before complete combustion leaving charcoal & a tiny amount of white ash.

  • Why not just burn the wood in the gassifier then u will have charcal left @ the end.

  • I'm no expert but it strikes me that it would have been easier to fill the drum then build a fire under it rather than trying to manhandle a full drum into an already lit fire, also why not weld a second chamber onto the bottom of the drum and build the fire in that then you won't need as much fuel to make the charcoal because you will be concentrating the heat right under the charcoal making chamber in much the same way an oven works.

  • and firing the pyrolysis gas to heat the chamber

  • awesome noise at 2:17 :P

  • thats right dont put ur welding gear like a redneck

  • can i use small file of shit?

  • and what we have here is a big pile of shit lol

  • he's funny and crazy

  • this is in no way good for the environment. could have contain the outside fire as well then burn off those gases.

  • where do you get thos big oil barrels?

  • Buy a cheap used wood stove off Craigslist. throw in oak firewood, get it hot.. by barely opening the door.. When it all turns red. Shovel it out of the stove into a metal trashcan.. Pour water on the red coals until they are wet and cold.. dry the charcoal. use it whenever... easy enough.

  • nice, he also weild like a redneck :P

  • nice hat =)

  • Gasoline is explosive

    make sure your far away

and the plywood or whatever you were burning probably got fermaldahyde and other great yummy cancer causing stuff

    great for lungs

  • I have had Great success with 5 gallon metal buckets! I drill one hole in the center, and then put the heat to it! Once the gas has burned off I cover the hole with a centercap, and place sand or dirt around it! This makes perfect Charcoal!

  • Danke für Information!!!

  • 3.5 hrs and smoking it all up just to make a friggin bricket to cook a GD hamburger green. Hahahahahh! and to the guy thats a so called welder? Im a real WELDER and ya cant burn (Flash) your eyes unless you look at the arc. Anything for YOU TUBE tho. Still funny.

  • Uh....yea, no.....shit

  • 0:40 is funny

  • LOL...this is the funniest video about charcoal making I've ever seen!!! I rated 5 STAR

Welding without mask, opening the container while it's still hot, setup the massive fuel prior to burn... you name it!

    Oh boy, this is hillarious...

  • Amen!!!

  • "What I've got right here is a big pile of shit."

    LOL

  • @razordu30 hellz yeah

  • @razordu30 LOL, I had to pause the video at that point due to laughter.

    Brilliant

  • btw u messed up dude. your supposed to wait until it cools down or else the oxygen will turn the charcoal into ash

  • a big pile of shit lol :)

  • if the hole for the gases has a flame coming out of it for a little while while your making the charcoal is it ruined, even only if there is a flame for a short amount of time?

  • My friend makes his own chacoal like that.

  • Comment removed

  • Some people aren't educated enough about welding to realize that you need to protect your eyes or close them when welding. You might consider an annotation so that some city slicker doesn't go blind.

  • I garuntee if you weld with your eyes closed and have no mask or hood on, when you wake up the next morning it will feel like someone cramed sand in you eyes, and rubbing them when they are burning and itchy will only make them worse! It sucks ass bad, I am a welder and I learned the hard way, wear a mask when tacking up a weldment. (at least thats how it happend to me) I know better even then to wear a mask when welding out a weldment. WEAR APPROPRIAT WELDING GEAR AT ALL TIMES!

  • I always wear a mask when i weld:D my friend is stupid as shit though, i thought sun glasses would protect him so i just glared at the welding, not so fun the day after i guess

  • 1:23 BWAH HA HA HA HA

this video was worth it just for that

  • lol you are a genius!

5* for this very funny and informative video

    Favourited also :D

  • Haha.

  • MIG welding without a helmet or even goggles. You really are a redneck -- even if you did close your eyes!

  • Guilty as charged

  • Nice retort, anyway. :)

  • @VictoryGasworks My pop's a redneck too!

  • @VictoryGasworks ha ha ha i do it too sometimes at work. im not gonna dig my hood out of the bottom of my toolbox to tack up one bracket.

  • @matthbva

Yeah, please wear protective equipment in future! You'll regret it when you're older, otherwise :/

  • i have a cool idea...

what if you got an old earthstove... cut a circular cut form the top of the earhstove so the drum could fit on top... weld the drum for in place as a new top... then you start a fire in the earthstove... alot more heat will transfer and the gasses could still be vented into the stove... you would have alot more use of your fuel and a much faster charcoal producer....

    what do you think?

  • That is a great idea. What works well too is running an open top (stratified) gasifier with a weak blower. The volitiles are removed and the charcoal is high quality when the cubes are cut to 2 x 2 inches. Its fast (45 min) and consumes about the same amount of wood in the end.

  • glasses are good when ur welding.

  • yeah nice work man. What kind of welder are you using in this video? I need to buy one pronto. thanks.

  • Miller 250 mig welder. About 10 years old. Miller makes great welders, but their plasma cutters are so so.

    Thanks for watching!

  • "So what I've got right here is a big pile of shit..." hahahhaha

Excellent videos - I look forward to many more!

  • Great video man. Its good to learn things even when you are teaching. lol Love the videos. I am working on a homebuilt gasifier myself.

  • Yeah, I'm always learning... Sometimes the hard way. I usually make my charcoal by starting a fire and rescuing the hot coals before they become ash. Using the retort makes much better charcoal. I am working on a better design that will give a more even result. Thanks for watching.
