Hey I just wanted to let you know that you spoke the truth in your video about imus. I think you generalized just a bit though. I am a Black person who is continually outraged by sexism and the use of the N word by EVERYONE, not just one specific demographic. Its ugly and wrong, it is no different with an "a" instead of an "er"...its just plain disgusting.
I just hope you realize that there are a vast number of Black people who share my opinion on this...secondly, if you are going to consider rap music as a factor (which it undoubtedly is) you must also consider the business issues involved with that: the popular music is not truely a reflection of the community OR even the artist himself; commercial rap is a product of the quantity-over-quality mentality.
You only hear the music that the record company decides should be on the shelves, which unfortunately is this n-word/sexism- heavy nonsense. Other artists foolishly feel pressured to follow the same path in order to make money. Stupid? Yes. But I dont believe that with this in mind, anyone could truly consider rap-music an accurate reflection of the Black community as a whole. (It is also worth noting that the industry is not run by african-americans as well.)
I find myself very often expressing some of the same sentiments that you did in this video..in pure disgust of the level of ignorance that has become acceptable in society today. Imus' show is a comedy show. Now if he was the first to try to be funny making fun of other races it would be one thing but i think some others might have tried this before. The best analogy to describe why it's not okay to use the same racial slurs on a race of people when they use them is this. Say you go to a friends house and he gives his wife a playful smack on the ass. Then YOU walk over and give her a smack on the ass then she gets pissed off and calls you an asshole. Would you get angry and say -- Hey your husband gave you a smack on the ass why are you getting upset when I do it? The reason why is because YOU ARE NOT FAMILY.

Consider the context? The comments were said in the context of a joke. Why only go after Imus? Why not go after every other comic (white or black or whatever) that uses racist humor?

If Don Imus used the word 'hos' in the same context that rappers do (e.g. if he said something like "i bang sexy hos 24/7"), there wouldn't be much outrage.

I agree - Imus should unquestionably be punished for being disrespectful. But firing him doesn't fix this situation. It only drives a wedge between "black and white". I am not his side; I've watched his show a few times - enough to know that it is lame. I couldn't care less if he loses his show.

The principle issue is that of all the so-called "black leaders" rallying together to sacrifice a white man that said something "offensive". Do they do the same for outstanding "black actors/comedians" whose success is at the cost of saying the same (or worse) than what Imus has said. THAT IS HYPOCRISY.

This young man is an example of how far our country has to go with our race issues. This video is also an example of how far women have to go to try and be equal to men. He should take a look at himself and see how far he still has to grow as a person. He needs real character development so he can see that what Imus said about the young women on the basketball team was wrong.

rap lyrics have nothing to do with this, lil' buddy. if snoop dogg went on the radio and called a team of female basket ball players he didn't know a bunch of nappy headed hoes, they would still be offended. in rap lyrics, the use of the word hoe is typically directed toward promiscuous women. although it's still in poor taste, but it's not the same as calling someone whose sexual experience you're not familiar with a "hoe." rap is irrelevant.

I'm half German(my idiot relatives are practically nazis!) yet I fully understand why I can call myself a goosestepping, "deutsch" bag, and someone not of German descent, might get a bat in the face.
