Your life is not in danger in this case, or on almost any amusement ride at an established amusement park. This particular ride was designed with failsafe, retractable magnetic brakes on the launch track that will slow the ride down if it does not clear the hill.

This can have rollbacks frequently and no one is injured.

The Edge, a ride that Six Flags Great America used to have, had a rollback on May 22, 1984, and three teenage boys were seriously injured.

@dudeimamudkip Not sure what the edge was, but I can imagine it was because it had friction brakes. Those close a lot faster and harder. Magnetic brakes such as those found on Top Thrill Dragster offer smooth deceleration and are nearly fail proof.

@Roll3rCoast3rs no the kingda ka is higher and faster than the dragster. But i have been on both and the dragster is alot better. the kingda ka jerks you around alot because of the pulldown thing. The dragster only has a lap bar so your head is free

@altontowersfreak001 Over the shoulder restraints are lame. They are supposedly for inverting coasters, but I've ridden some where they've had lap bars and it's fine. All they do is create head banging... I can usually adapt my position to anticipate the turns and such, but I hear so many people complain about them.

And if it's leaning to far to the side, that worries you, the head rests stick out on the sides. I learned this when I tried to look to the train in front of us. Bong! lol

@komilatte Truthfully, the fatter you are, the better the chance of going over, if there is more weight on the train, it would cause more forward momentum. This is why Rollbacks almost always when trains are half full.
