  • In 1981 Softcell itself covered this song.

It was originally sung by Gloria Jones in 1965 and written by Ed Cobb...

  • Uhm, hello? This is a Gloria Jones song that Soft Cell covered.

  • legeslegjobb Balaton Sound volt, életem második bulija :)

  • why the hell is everybody talkin about gay ppl and straight ppl lol. i did not see a single comment about the band or the music haha. this is a good band with a beautiful singer playing a good song

  • I credit my grumpiness to intolerant people. How ironic is that?! Kinda like the bed-bug asking me why I'm itchy! :-)

  • @2MrGrumpy ... nah ... just having a bit of fun at your lame expense. So tell us the boring saga as to why you became so grumpy ? Too much speed ? downsized ? replaced at your place of work by a young lesbo illegal alien with a mustache who watches Ellen Degenerate on Tv ? What ?

  • @2MrGrumpy ... boo hoo for you , bet you are meester grumpy because NO ONE will have sex with U, not women, not men, not animals, not children, not real dolls. NADA. Bet you thought your slur was the result of intelligent use of your sotted brain, but more likely it is just a drunken stump of remorse where your only use for it is as a hat rack. Doubtful the women I refuse would even have anything to do with YOU. You probably even get refused by hookers. LOL ! Find a new brain in a septic tank !

  • @videocanone (sigh) impotent rage.....:-(

  • Duh, gay love is tainted love ... did anyone not pick that up ? reason enough to go straight you fudgers out there !

  • @videocanone .....no, I think it's more about the personalities of the people involved with each other- anyone stupid/ desperate enough to involve themselves with a moron like you would be involved in such a relationship, for example. Now that you know, you can go to bed a little less stupid tonight! :-)

  • it is not a Soft Cell song. As much as i enjoy the music of theirs it was a Gloria Jones song.

  • @skouf007 Yup. The Gloria Jones original is far superior tho.

  • jönnek VOLT-ra !!!!

  • Feels good

  • SUX

  • szédületes, nagyon jó!

  • aksamit z ekspresja!!zakochalem sie w tej kapeli!!

  • kössz

  • mi a neve az énekesnőnek?

  • @levi2070 Melanie Pain

  • Ahh the VOGUE - again - Keep it going!

  • lost the energy of this song, but would love to see this band open for Brazilian Girls

  • yes, this is Gloria Jones! everybody has covered this. Soft Cell, Inspiral Carpets, Marilyn Manson. those that have not done a cover version have sampled it in one way or another.

  • so could do the bossanova to this!!

  • One of the few Nouvelle Vague versions that I don't like. Doesn't work for me, just too dull.

  • @dommywaddle I think I agree. I think it's because the originals have something of the same sense that Nouvelle Vague bring to their covers so this sounds almost like something I could imagine Marc Almond doing himself. (Which is, of course, fine, but not what we come to expect from Nouvelle Vague).

  • In an act of sacrilege I've always prefered the male version Marc Almond Soft Cell to the original Gloria Jones until hearing this. Now I see it really works beter with a female voice

  • i don`t like this cover, Manson and The Lost Fingers are the best!

  • Love the sound

  • OH MY are you guys arguing over music genre...you like it or you don't?

  • we are all biologically bi- sexual like it or not, fact.

  • Sexuality i so irrelevant especially because these are fantastic musicians and you cared enough to search for and watch the video but not to pay respect in comment! $OnDine£

  • gloria jones. wasnt she the murderess who killed the maim man marc bolan in a car crash

  • "Tainted Love" a "gay song" ???? Sometimes you young people simply don't realize the luck you have !!! Look it up on the internet: "Tainted Love" was originally sung in 1964 by Gloria Jones, a woman !!! Covered in 1975 by Ruth Swann, a woman !!! And finally covered by Soft Cell in 1981, Marc Almond being a very gay man; that's why you think of it as a "gay" song !!!!

Look up the original version from Gloria Jones and you will realize that it sounds very much like the "Nouvelle Vague" version

  • I dont think it would be bother me if she was gay, though part of me would really upset for selfish reasons.

  • btw, 'Zombielust'??? omfg, that+the fact that u said u were gay = one of the most appaling nicknames i've ever come across. bleah!

  • nice cover

  • I will never understand why a persons sexuality has to come into question when watching a video, unless of course that video is gay porn. People who make judgements on another persons sexuality based on a 3.35min video are just showing how stupid they are. And could someone please explain to me how a persons "moving/dancing gay-ly", makes any sense at all, unless said person has a cock in their mouth at the time, there really isnt anyway of knowing...

  • :D exact-ly!

  • @zombielust1969

sooooo gay, what You said :)

  • I am a gay man, you moron, you're 22 years old, dont you think its time you grow up and stop acting like a teenager???

  • zimbie, go shoot urself u damn bloddy (proud to be) faggot. 'I am a gay man'? well then let me throw up

  • You're 25 and looking up Bosa Nova style covers of new wave songs, you're probably gay yourself and just dont have the balls to admit it...Have fun watching Glee sissy....

  • ofc, all 'gay' people are born that way, not 'all people' rofl. (just a note)

  • The reason I even mention your age is, at a certian point a person should mature and you should have done that a long time ago....

  • @dagt05 homophobia is stupid, baseless, pointless and unfair. People can't change who they are, and they should have to because of others opinions

  • @zombielust1969 So aren't straight people capable of liking these songs? I'd love to know reasoning behind connecting with this style and being gay? (which there is nothing wrong with in the first place)

I like technical death metal too, does that make me gay as well?

  • @ClearFiend

I'm with you on this. I think because Soft Cell's lead singer was openly gay, it's seen as a gay song - even though their version was a cover. Even so, who cares?

  • @ClearFiend Yes.

  • @ClearFiend like death metal? Makes you an asshole GAY asshole..

  • because someone knows how to get dressed with style doesn'w mean he is gay!!!!!!!!i like his style and i am not gay

  • I don't think kchlou meant his clothes...he is moving/dancing gay-ly!

  • xaxa ok then my apologizes alla to palikari ta spaei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • οτι τα σπαει, τα σπαει! χαχα!

  • χαχαχααχαχ ελληναρας και εσυ :P εγω δεν τον κοβω για gay παντως

  • so what if hes gay,

  • so sweet and pretty. Although that guy next to her is SO SO SO gay....

  • Comment removed

  • cool

  • wow...this is a BIT different than the original....it's a great cover....but i'm gonna have to say it doesn't come anywhere close to as good as the original..

  • the 1964 original or the 80's remake by Soft Cell?

  • both

  • Hearing Gloria Jones's original destroyed the Soft Cell cover for me. Nothing can top it, it's a northern soul classic. Thumbs up for reminding me to listen to it again.

  • Have a great day Crush

  • rated super awesome

  • marry me, Mélanie ♥

  • Don't marry him Marry me ;-}

  • I love Melanie Pain!

  • she is so SEXI mann.... yehhhh

  • love this version

  • Very god music and very sexy girls.

  • I miss their tour. I find this single nowhere in their albums.

  • i love all their covers! (:

  • Damnit sexy French lady, you cover some of my favorite songs and I somehow don't hate you! :p

  • This song is like a jazz standard, Gloria Jones, soft cell, Nouvelle vague, anyone

  • love her voice and movments--seexxxy--

  • Soft Cell? Soft Cell's version was a cover! It's Gloria Jones's song!

  • FYI : Gloria Jones was the first PERFORMER of this song. Written by Ed Cobb. Gloria Jones never reach the pop charts with this song.

Released in 1981, Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" was a number-one hit in seventeen countries, including the United Kingdom, as well as a number eight single in the United States during 1982, and went on to set a then-Guinness World Record for the longest consecutive stay on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart (43 weeks).

  • Thanks for telling me what i already know ^^

  • Nouvelle Vague made Bossa Nova cover versions of 1980s New Wave tracks. (Not northern soul songs) That is the reason why is Soft Cell in the title.

  • So you think New Order and Bauhaus are New Wave?

  • Nope, they're post-punk like Killing Joke, Echo & the Bunnymen, and Blondie, (from Nouvelle Vague' repertoar).

Want you more to jape? Or close we this thread?

  • New Order and Bauhaus are nothing like Killing Joke, Echo or Blondie. "Want you more to jape? Or close we this thread?" What? Are you Yoda now? ^^ I don't care personally. Have a nice night.

  • new order are new wave, but bauhaus is post-punk like killing joke and echo & the bunnymen.

  • @spamdog1 Oh yeah......well that's just like....your opinion man.

  • @spamdog1 You're a 'google dawg!'

  • @spamdog1 Tainted Love was written by Ed Cobb for The Standells but they split up fastly after. It's unknown if Standells ever played/rehearsed it.

  • download? from...

  • abszolút-tuti-halálbiztosan :) reméljük elhoznak nekünk még pár csemegét, pl. air-t, thievery corporation-t el tudnám viselni
