why not try GOOGLE DESKTOP very fast lightweight doesnt use up too much system resources also searches the web great shortcuts come with it

ive used it but its Google, many people actually want anonymity. This is much more light weight and searches ALL files, not just documents and programs.

it's free, runs in the background, works on any mac since 1995, and works as a searcher, among many other things.
