It seems like disease of affluence. People are worth less than things and people are abandoned by other people. So maybe that is why thy make a fetish out of old junk to barricade themselves against feelings of worthlessness.

i dont understand why white people don't check on their parents, almost all the older white people i know never talk to family unless its the holiday(then complain about having horrible holidays) never talk to their parents in person. I understand their probably some who do keep in touch but I've noticed that most don't
pull it all out into the back yard and put a tarp over it....Nothing thrown away...God forbid. and assigned her 8 hours a day to go through it...trash or donate...period.
