  • What is the name of the song at 7:03?

  • Whatever she was or wasn't guilty of Anne certainly wasn't alone.People at Court would do whatever was necessary to keep the King's favour,so Anne wasn't unique in that sense.A fascinating woman nonetheless.

  • Jane seymor was a cold woman - she was betrothed the day after Annes beheading. its down in history that she was meek - she was ambitious too.

  • All sentimentality aside, I recognize that this is a very poignant video and that the charges against her were false, but Anne was not a good woman. She broke up a marriage and destroyed a child [Princess Mary] . She was also indirectly responsible for many deaths including that of one of the greatest Englishmen that has ever lived Sir Thomas More. To say that Anne was the Camila Parker Bowles of her time is an understatement. She makes Camila look like a saint by comparison.

  • PAUSE! 2:04

thats not Elizabeth, Elizabeth was a red head!

  • I wish to go back in Time with a ak 47 and kill the fckn king henry

  • @telorinodelhoyoo what makes you think you could get within 400 yards?

  • this just made me cry... and to think that this is real history and really happened... i'm so happy her daughter was crowned queen and was such a great queen as well... must make her mother proud...

  • King Henry VIII surely was a massive bastard.

  • king is a horrable man.... wouldnt even call him a man.. a boy

  • This actress rather resembles a probably authentic portrait of Anne in her 30's (different from the more famous painting usually used to illustrate books and articles about Anne) . She looks much more like her than other actresses. Anne was no beauty.

  • Nothing but respect for Anne. So young but what a great lady.

  • its ironic that the murdered queen anne gave birth to quite possibly the greatest monarch england has ever had!!!

  • I will say this, Ann didn't die in vain. Her daughter rose above and ruled. So her death was not for nothing. Had she not died perhaps Elizabeth might never have ruled. So in the end Ann was the one that walked away laughing. The moment she died she saw who would rule.

  • I watched the Other Boleyn Girl 5 times and was clueless why there was a cannon shot when Anne was beheaded, Then I watch this, I nod slowly and go "ahhhhhh" feeling stupid since it was obvious

  • it is also believed that Henry may have carried Syphilis which lead to all the miscarriages of his wives.

  • Henry's total lack of sympathy and remorse may have been due to his last jousting injury where he fell unconscious for 2 hours. unconsciousness for even 15 minutes means major brain damage. And reports show since that accident he was a different person; sporadic, extreme and emotionally unstable.

  • You know what makes it worse? Henry married Jane Seymour just 11 days after the death of Anne Boleyn!

  • This is depressing.

  • Henry was disgusting he slept with whomever he liked and made up reasons to kill his wives. Who would want a disgusting man like that were he not king.

  • lol@ 5:07 "a more gentle and merciful prince" Um lady, he's murdering you lol

  • @WeeeWriter Her words had to be careful not to enrage the King, she had her daughter to consider and she knew that she had be declared a bastard and had no idea her fate.

  • Hmmm...no mention of Bloody Mary's reign at the end. After her 5 years of her terror, you would think that many wouldn't want to risk another Queen on the thone.Still, there wasn't much choice really.

  • Man, she didn't deserved that treatment, after her dead she was treated like crap, she didn't even had a good funeral, she deserved more than that.

  • This is why I can't understand why people online fight over which of his wives were better or worse.

REALLY!? Henry was a problem within itself, his wives were not bad, at all.

I loathe that king. My least favorite of European history. I can't even name one good thing about him, besides that he made the Catholic church less strict... not, really since he made a completely different sect, but you get my point.

  • King Henry executed an innocent woman because she couldnt give him a son, what an ASS!! I just hope judgement day was cruel to him.

  • Why didn't the son they had become the king ?

  • @dedrawilliams because, they never had one, that survived anyways

  • @blakesnearey96 Oh ok :) Thanks

  • @dedrawilliams Henry had a son by Jane Seymour who was crowned Edward VI at 9 years old.He reigned for 6 years and died at age 15.

  • @blaster2012 Thanks for the info ,thats a young age to be a king lol did they say why he died ?

  • @dedrawilliams Edward VI Born 12 October 1537 Died 6 July 1553 (aged 15)

    Coronation 20 February 1547 (aged 9) Burial 8 August 1553

reigned for 6 years, 159 days

  • @dedrawilliams The poor little 15 year old did not die pleasantly, coughing up all sorts of nasty stuff, and having difficulty breathing, but having reprises of feeling better, followed by relapses.Later they thought he had a tumour on his lung, undoubtedly that finnished the poor lad off : (

  • @dedrawilliams he died very young

  • Henry lived til 1547 only 11 years longer than his dead wife Anne Boleyn he died i believe of a broken heart, the broken heart he suffered from missing his wife Anne Boleyn had he not been a king, had he only been a commoner (and i don't mean the noble ones i mean the ones who lived average back then) he would have died sooner. So to all of you who didn't think Henry loved Anne think again cause 55 years old is a very young age to die

  • @donnylovesayesha1 He is evil and has no hart he died of his sins

  • The fact that royalty did go to their deaths with such dignity actually helped those who would execute them. One of the turning points in the French Guillotine blood bath is where a woman, a nanny I think, DIDN'T go with dignity and screamed, cried and begged until she was held down and killed. This was so traumatizing to the onlookers that the executions started to lose favor with the mob. They should've ALL screamed, cried and pleaded with the crowd.

  • I know she didn't I'm just just talking about the fact of actually getting up there to put your head there, knowing you'll never come back down. Terrifying.

  • they are leaving out the fact that she was in the top three if not #1 most famous monarch in their history and i think she had the second longest reign in their history?

  • I am starting to get a bit confused and annoyed as to what people say about Annes relationship with Elizabeth; some accounts i say she doted on her, others say she neglected her!! i wish they make up there minds!!

Also this documentary has her wearing what appears to be a french hood instead of the English headpiece; she went to her death as an english queen and wanted to look like it so she wore the enlgish box-type headpiece.

  • It's barbaric. Cutting off a person's head. I've never really thought much to it before, seeing it as just part of that period of history. But really....it's horrific. :( I'd have a nervous breakdown & have to be carried to the scaffold :(

  • she's wearing ermine to her execution what a very elegant fop she was

  • after he signed his wifes death warrant he never had another successful marriage serves him right

  • This is so very sad, and that poor child Elizabeth being robbed of her mother like that, it must have affected her later on, it must have even though she never talked about it, but knowing her own father signed her mother's death warrent must have scarred her. xxxx

  • henry was cold blooded how can you go to see your mistress in the same hour of your beloved wife execution? what a loser

  • clever girl that Anne she made sure she praised henry and told him of her love at the hour of her death...with that done and Elizabeth's future secured i know henry lived to regret killing her when his infatuation with Jane Seymour wore off

  • @donnylovesayesha1

Jane Seymour died after giving birth to Edward

she was not queen for a long time

  • Comment removed

  • He should have never been king anyways! His father took the crown under the most despicable way from the true heirs, the Yorkshires. It is said that the mother of the Yorkshires cursed Henry VII saying that his first male heir would die and the second would not be able to have male children to crown.

  • Is she stupid? Why is she saying anything at all? The king was gentle? Yeah that's why he said " off with your head".

  • @michaeluvnikita tradition, that is what they were ecspected to say, just like they had to pay the executioner themself, and forgive him. If you watch the execution of the men accused with her and of thomas cromwell, they all say pretty much the same thing.

  • @his299 yeah that's what they were expected to say but she was his wife and bore some babies for him believe me if she wanted to switch it up she would have she wasn't i dont think too afraid of him, also she was a independent thinker with her own mind if she were mad at him or very sorrowful according to the show she said more than the others and she didnt have to what more she said is what more she felt

  • @michaeluvnikita

if she insulted the king or made him mad in anyway, it might have given her a little satisfaction....but that would be at the cost of her daughter. she had no way of making sure that henry wouldn't destroy her daughter along with her.

she had after all seen what he did to mary who lived with him longer than elisabeth. and actually had allies in spain...

  • @michaeluvnikita she's a little dumb but not that dumb you see if one of us were to say that about our men oh yes we would be complete morons but henry spent in pounds back then what is today the equivalent of over $14,000,000 a year on her clothing and he chose to decapitate instead of burn her (which in those times was considered a more horrible death) so you see that's why she said he is one of the best princes on the face of the earth i figured it out

  • @michaeluvnikita For many reasons. Safety of her daughter and that of her family. She had no clue what Henry would do with Elizabeth, since he accused her of not being his daughter, and demoted her to bastard.

  • Not bad...it's a little dry...but it is a historical documentary. What a douche Henry was! He was already prepared to marry Jane Seymour while all this was going on. What an SOB!! I hope somewhere there is justice for him.

  • The family values of Henry VIII.

  • This documentary has quite a few things wrong. For one, the day of her death is incorrect. It was the 19th, not the 18th. It was originally set for 9am on the 18th, but the executioner was late. It was pushed back a few times, and finally ended up being the next day. Yet there is no mention of this here. That is the most notable mistake. And to those who keep spewing out words of "Karma" against Anne remember this: Mary became "Bloody Mary" while Anne's daughter became ruler of the "Golden Age".

  • LMFAO! why not marry Mary Bolyn instead? and accept his bastard children of his own, so therefore he wouldnt have to go through the effort to concieve a son, since he already had two with Mary? I mean, gawd....

  • Henry is most likely burning in hell now, he committed adultery, he was a false accuser, he murdered innoncent people, he was selfish, unmerciful. I am glad hell exists and people like him are paying for everything they did.

Anne was executed but at least now she is with God. She did wrong but she repented. She had the last laugh after all.

  • The women he used knew exactly what they were getting in for....besides he didn't personally kill any of his wives.. it was the law of the times: a queen was committing treason if she had an illicit liaison.. Anne's accusers may have been lying.... but Catherine's weren't - thus she was executed. What a nasty lot. He only mourned for Jane Seymour & chose to be buried with her too.

  • He still loved her. Even to her death, he still loved her and showed her mercy by sparing the horrible death and gave her a quick a painless one. No matter of what people say that he hated her, it is pretty obvious that he still loved her all the way to her death. There was no doubt that Anne was always the love of his life. Maybe he didn't anyone to know it...who knows. We shall never know.

  • @AndreaCLiraMartinez

I am sorry to disagree but Henry was a piece of shit who didnt love anyone. He was selfish and loved himselfe. If he had loved Anne, he would never had accused her of things she didnt do. He purposely accused her of adultery when he knew it wasnt true. He wanted to get rid of her to satisfy his own selfish desires. He got rid of everyone who stood in his way and felt no mercy for anyone.

  • @AndreaCLiraMartinez henry like all pompous kings and men back then probably did not want to admit openly of his love for Anne or that he made a terrible mistake

  • I thought that Anne rebelled and cut her hair off and payed for her executioner herself as a sort of middle finger to King Henry VIII.

  • All hail Queen Anne Boleyn! Innocent of all of the charges tried against her and mother of the best English monarch!

  • Elizabeth 1 was probably the greatest queen in our history if not in European history.

  • Well I guess you could say Anne got the last laugh when Elizabeth went on to be one of the greatest queens in English history.

  • A terrible series of events was at work here. The lack of a son,Queen Katherine's death(which meant King Henry could off Anne and not have to go back to her) the English people's hatred of Anne, the desire of King Henry to have relations with Spain(who would never accept Anne) and King Henry's gigantic ego that would not permit him to admit he'd fucked up,so he made Anne a scapegoat and Cromwell's dislike of her all combined to send Anne to her death. She didn't stand a chance.

  • @NicolaWriter also, Henry had had two illegitimate sons, one with Anne's sister Mary, so in his mind, it was the fault of the wife and possibly a judgment of God against him.

  • @angerdux8

Hello, there. It's amazing how religion and the desire for a son caused all this upheaval.

Nowadays, you can basically create a kid of any sex, hell, even engineer how he/she will look!

  • @NicolaWriter LOL!

  • @angerdux8

all in all, with karma in the swing, Elizabeth's success... I bet Boleyn wasnt so guilty.

  • @hop1pop

nah there are more definite proofs of her innocence than shown here.

during the trail when they listed the times she was supposedly committing the adultery, Cromwell made a mistake and listed a date that was 10 days after she gave birth and was suffering from complications...

something she mentioned in the trail but was of course ignored...

  • Who would want to marry Henry knowing that his wives were killed once he was tired of them?

Women do anything to have power and money, even if it means putting your life on the line.

  • Poor Anne she didn't deserve to die! If I had been in her position and was walking up to the scaffold I would want to die quickly and get it over with. I do love Henry VIII but wherever he is now I hope he now knows that what he did to Anne was grotesque and horrifying.

  • @TheTwilightgirl18 Im curious how a woman loves, not only a lier and adulterer , he killed and set up females without remorse. And he treated his kids like garbage, especially the girls. Please enlighten me.

  • Bastard Henry...Bastard.

  • Wow I don't know if I could have such dignity going to the scaffold and putting my head down, I would be terrified.

  • @mckfrr i don't think she put her head down she knelt on her knees

  • @mckfrr And above that! You pay him money for getting your head chopped off! That's just sad

  • wasnt elizabeth ginger?

  • I have a deep love for European History, and I can truly say that I dislike two "great" kings in history: King James V and King Henry VIII. Both are murderers of women. Especially King Henry VIII. Accusing women of treason when he's done with them and wanted someone else. I hope that pig is frying.

  • who was James V? What did he do?

  • @evaperonfan he was the son of margaret tudor (sister of henry viii) and father of mary the first of scotland (she was beheaded by elizabeth the first)

  • but what did he do that was so bad?

  • King James V of Scotland was imprisoned by the earth of Douglas (Archibald) and when Archibald fled to England, King James V went after his family: Janet Douglas. He burned her at the state for Witchcraft, even though she was innocent. They tortured her servants.

  • King James V of Scotland's revenge on the Douglas family was complete, although the coward went after an innocent woman instead of facing a man.

  • There are actually many more Kings who murdered their wives than just Henry and James. Though I agree they were both quite monstrous to women. I'd say a close third would be Ivan The Terrible. He was a total psycho too. T_T

  • Ivan the Terrible certainly earned his name. It's amazing at the amount of lack of respect some men had for women back then and the fear they had of women. I've learned that people who believe in themselves and who have great self esteem, don't feel the need to hurt others or demean them, in order to feel good about themselves.

  • @WeeeWriter yes. You can still see it today in the Islamic world. Western women have come a long way, but women in some parts of the world still have a long way to go.

  • @WeeeWriter well said

  • @WeeeWriter Sorry, I don't understand how King James V was a murderer of woman.

  • @WeeeWriter Sorry, I don't understand how King James V was a murderer of women.

  • @UsagiDreams Janet Douglas was the sister of Archibald, the 6th earl of Angus. He was also the one that imprisoned King James V when he was young. When the King escaped, Archibald went into exile to escape. Who was left behind to take the wrath? Janet Douglas was. Her and her son were tortured out of revenge and although Janet was innocent, she was burned at the stake for "Witchcraft", which was BS. She was murdered in cold blood out of revenge.

  • @WeeeWriter Ah, thanks for filling me in there.

  • @UsagiDreams *smiles*

  • @WeeeWriter Maybe you should check out my video called "My Immortal", it's about Anne Boleyn's death.

  • @WeeeWriter what did james v do?

  • @Bigblue2ful James the V murdered a young wife because of something her husband did but the husband fled like a coward and left HER there to face the consequences. Her name was Janet Douglas, a very brave and noble lady,.

  • @WeeeWriter James V? Was he that Scotch guy who burned that innocent woman who lived at Glamis castle?

  • @chocolatefountain95 Yes indeed dear Chocolate, the very same one. Archibald went running like a coward, he was the one that imprisoned King James V, then when he escaped, James went after Janet Douglas instead of Archibald cause that man fled to England. The woman was murdered for being related to Archibald and withing King James V's reach.

  • @WeeeWriter ouch that bastard

  • @WeeeWriter or freezing. :P

  • @WeeeWriter Amen.

  • @WeeeWriter

    He probably is

  • Read The Life and Death of Anne Boleyn by Eric Ives.

  • Quite beautiful especially the music.

Anne wore a gable hood and dark grey damask. The execution called to a boy to fetch his sword to distract her. Elizabeth was strawberry blond or ginger.

  • yep also it is believed that Elizabeth was w/ her mother when she was arrested. =( That must of been so hard to know your dad killed your mommy

  • can anyone tell me the song that plays in the beginning or is it just a piece of music that was made by people who did this?

  • Her Headpiece is incorrect and ridiculously large. It resembles a Tudor hood rather than the French Hood Anne Favored.

  • Her headpiece is, indeed, incorrect. She wore a "gable-style" headpiece to her execution.

  • I agree she did favour the french hood but she said wanted to die the english queen so for her death she chose a more tudors style hood :D

  • R.I.P Queen Anne Boleyn

  • It might have been easier on the women if Henry had had less "conscience" over mistresses.

  • this was told beautifully

  • You have to remember that Anne believed that so long as Catherine and Mary lived she was in danger of losing her throne. She didn't want to be cast aside and sent to a nunnery, which who really would? It was a dog-eat-dog world and that's how you had to play the game. Get them before they get you.

  • and of course you love it.

  • What do you mean rest in hell? What makes you so sure that that's where she went?

  • Many Thanks for posting this.

  • whtd she say tht henry was a good king? she knew he wasnt if he condemd her to death...

  • yes, always found that odd BUT Anne was no fool - she knew tht by saying what she said, and beleive me they apparently were concerned about what she was going to say, she would prove her innocence - hence its why the documentary says tht it was reported tht she died "boldly" and that she "never admitted any guilt" - brave woman, she also knew that her actions could have an impact on Elizabeth, so she woudlve been thinking of her too when she said what she said - I would think.

  • I wasn't aware that women traitors were burned - I knew that Anne couldve died this way, but Henry spared her that horror and had her beheaded instead., but was unaware that burning for women was the usual practice -. Perhaps , it could be said, that Anne had the last laugh as it were ,when her daugher Elizabeth - a girl - not only became Queen, but one of Englands greatest rulers - far greater than Henry's precious son Edward - who died at the age of 16 from TB,whose uncle ruled through him.

  • Not only did Elizabeth become one of Englands greatest rulers but she was ther first queen to rule in her own right, i.e. no husband and sole ruler

  • I beleive that one of her well known sayings is "There is but one mistress here and no master" - think that that sums it up, She was indeed, as was her sister Mary, as she never had her husband Phillip crowned King when he was married to her , so strictly speaking , both of Henry's daughters ruled as sole Monarchs, but i know what you mean

  • grrr i hate king henry the 8th hes an idiot for the murders of anne boleyn and other women who were not even bad

i loved anne boleyn she was a beautiful woman who didnt deserve to die! D:

  • hey what is the actual title of this documentary, and when was it released? And is it a BBC production? lol i need to include this in the bibliography of my extension history major work = ]

  • Does anybody know the title of the song played at 3:40? Thanks.

  • good information like the little seperate squares cool effect! xx

  • i didnt know jane seymour gave birth to a son. i always thought that all of henry's wives failed and anne was the only one who gave birth to a healthy girl, elizabeth

  • catherine of aragon his first wife gave birth to a healthy girl (mary) then anne had elizabeth and jane seymour died giving birth to his son who then dies around the age of 15 due to illness.....mary took the throne and then died of a tumour and then elizabeth took the throne and died at old age childless..

  • hw had three mary often called bloody mary, elizabeth and his son who died when he was a mere boy.

  • i LOVE that narrator's voice... who is he?

  • Does anyone know the music that starts at 7:04?

  • Hey - the song is spiegel Im Spiegel from the film "Dear Frankie" There are several people who have done different versions.

    Hope this helps :-)

  • OMG! Yes! Yes! Yes!

    A thousand thankyous ! :D

    Finally!

    Ever so grateful

How did you find out though?

  • That's really f-d up that they cut her head of just for not bearing a live son.

  • ^ Anne wouldn't have born Henry a live son, because she had a particular blood group that was different to Henry's, and therefore it would cause her to miscarry any male foetuses *sigh* :(

  • They actually know what blood type she was?

  • Yeah. I guess they took a sample from her tooth pulp - it locks in their DNA and such and it would have enabled them to get a bloop type. Can't remember what it is, but I'll find out!

  • I wish they would find her skull and do a facial re-construction. Do you notice that none of the portraits of her done in her life time look anything alike? Artists must have sucked back then.

  • i didnt know that blood type could do that :O:O

  • Yep. it is possible that she was Rh negative, causing her body to reject all subsequent Rh positive children

  • the song is spiegel im spiegel by arvo part.

  • Good story

  • I love the music on this, it adds so much more emotion to the plight of Anne Boleyn, I never knew her ladies in waiting carried her to the chapel, how honorable of them to do so!

  • God bless you Anne. You had more courage, beauty and honesty than that fay PYSCHO bastard you married.

  • agreed x

  • what is the song at 4:00?

  • She was more brave than I would have been - they would have dragged me to the scaffle

  • Me too, someoneold- especially if I were innocent of the vile charges against me. I do not believe for a minute that Anne was guilty. Kangaroo courts are nothing new.

  • i wanna apologize to the people who snapped at me about my comment. i didnt want it to sound nagative. i respect the history of anne. it was just a question i wanted to ask . these people r obvislutyl really good at making these documentries look so real. it just got to me

  • This video is very sad. Im sitting here with tears in my eyes, but finally Anne got revenge - her daughter became queen of England. That's a very good ending.

  • andromeda..grow a brain and stop posting the same stuff on every video..by now no one cares..

  • i feel bad for little elizabeth because she didn't know that her mother was about to die and her father ordered it that must be horrible for her

  • Elizabeth used the death of her mother and the First Queen as an example. This is why she never married, thus insuring that a King would not have her head. She was a wise and goodly Queen

  • it was more that she did not want any man ruling over her country, but your idea could be also true

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely. I agree with you, Voxin2.

I just finished reading 'The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn' by Robin Maxell and it states that very clearly.

A wonderful book if you love Anne Boleyn. I think it is more accurate than The Other Boleyn Girl, but I am not sure.

By the way, maybe a stupid question, but is Anne still buried in the Chapel of St. Peter ad Vincula? I heard a time ago that her body was moved rather recently.

  • I think she is still buried there

  • Her body is still buried there if you visit she is in the left hand corner of the chapel and katherine howard is next to her under the alter. If you visit there is always a yeoman of the guard who will tell you were they are all buried.

  • Thanks for the tip. I will be visiting the Tower of London next Saterday!! I will definitely look out for her 'grave' and pay my respects to her.

  • so sad.......

  • In a way...Anne did have some sort of revenge. Back then, it was believed that only men could rule. Henry went through hell (and took people with him along for the ride)and back again to ger a son.

    So what happens?

His precious son dies, and Henry's second DAUGHTER became one of the greatet monarchs England had ever seen.

I can seriouly picture Anne laughing her heas off because of this.

  • With a mother like Anne, Elizabeth just could own.

  • Oh yes.

  • And please excuse my horrible s
