Ok, I'm brazilian and I always see people complaining about whether it's a samba or not. This one is obviously not the samba we are used to see here, but as a lot of other styles, it got out of its original country and had a lot of external influences, it had a most structurized sense of technique, then it became popular worldwide this way

If you get another styles, such as Rumba, it is originally intended to be a fun, fast dance, not the style we see in these shows. I actually enjoy them all

Both have great artistry and impeccable technique. I agree with some comments questioning how genuine a samba dance this is. The actual samba section is right in the middle, about 38 seconds into the dance. Anywhere else the choreography is meant to emphasize their individual dance strengths. Highly entertaining, though.

For a much better musical interpretation of this song (and for real ballroom dance) watch Max an Yulia's Hip Hip Chin Chin in the Related Videos section. You will particularly notice how the guy should be dancing samba, he did not quite do almost any samba moves but rather struck poses and ballet moves that did not quite fit the music... still the front view of their routine was entertaining and with positive energy, so I do not want to be negative

This version is nowehere near as good as the original performance. They left loads of things out. Danny wasn't even stepping the samba towards the end, he just walked.

Actually, I think the basic problem when your dealing with a Brazilian is that this isn't Brazilian samba, it's ballroom samba. That's like ballroom tango is different from Argentine tango and for that matter Argentine show tango is different from street tango. There are several ballroom dances that don't look like what the people from the country of origin expect because they mutate when they go international.

Both Sabra and Danny are fantastic dancers. But, yeah, I think Danny should have won. I think Nigel's comment about how it would be nice to see a female win the competition caused people to vote more for a woman.

@faln2pieces: Sabra's originally from Denmark! I don't even know what happened to her after stealing America's title as the 'Best Dancer in SYTYCD' in Season 3. She never even returned to the show for a special performance thereafter. I DO know that Danny is currently working as a DI and choreographer.
