Most people in Brazil prefer Caipirinhas with Vodka anyway nowadays, so replacing Cachaça should be no problem. Smirnoff is the most common substitute.

I like to use a whole though, did you notice that? I see some people using the same amount of sugar as me, but they use only half a lime.
