As someone who deals with suicide on a regular basis no one can know why anyone tries to do it. There are times when anxiety clouds the mind and sadness leaves you empty. As far as attention...yeah...that's the only way to get help...would it be better if no one paid attention and she die? I've been in the hospital for attempts.... I don't know if anyone would choose to have their stomach pumped for 'attention'. Attention is the only way to combat an emotional disorder.

Her father has been treated for depression as well. You can't get "cheered up" with true depression because there is a chemical imbalance in the brain involved that shows very clearly on a CAT scan. It isn't being crazy or mentally ill. The fact that she sought treatment at this stage of her life is very important.

According to her mother, she took homeopathic aspirin--the only drugs in her apartment. consider it for what it was --a cry for help.

My cousin played me her song "Notice Me", thinking I would hate it like she did...but I loved it, and decided to look up other stuff...I just love this song, she has a really soulful voice, and makes me think of Idina Menzel a bit. People shouldn't judge Alexa just from that one song, she's really quite talented.

Problem is she has to be auto-tuned to be on key and has to have fake vibrato processed into her vocal track so it sounds like she can sing.

For a girl growing up in a singing family, she shouldn't need that much help in the studio. The simple fact that she does means she doesn't deserve a lucrative singing career. There are far more talented singers who deserve the break - who can sing without ANY auto-tune fixes and have amazing vocal control - Who will never bee heard. Sad.

@SteveKasian I'm assuming you haven't listened to pop radio in the last five years. EVERY female singer on the radio is auto-tuned to some degree: Ke$ha, Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Rihanna- I could go on forever. Alexa may not have a powerhouse voice, but she's easily a better singer than the ones I just listed. BTW, there's more to being a musical entertainer than having a voice that breaks crystal. Who wants to listen to Mariah Carey all the time? Alexa has her own style and is growing.

@erosr1 I have to comment on on your comment. Every environment has it's threshold or she probably did it for the attention so you would make a comment like this. However in your defense, Her extremely gifted father did the same exact thing-went into a psych ward for a couple of weeks and thought "I'm not crazy" and became the great Billy Joel we all know and love. I think it was a cry for attention. Just a personal opinion. I bet it raised your eyebrow further investigating her music.

@erosr1 ...you have never suffered chronic depression, have you! Don't even think about judging this beautiful and talented young lady for her behaviour. There doesn't have to BE anything wrong to suffer the cripling darkness of depression but the slightest thing can push someone in that much pain over the edge. There's a history of depression in her family so this beautiful young woman was behind the 8 ball before she even began.

I say all praise to her for deciding to accept treatment.
