this may sound dumb but i think of neil peart more as a percussionist than a drummer, and i also think his technicality takes away from his greatness(?)
Theres no way of comparing them, they play a total different style. Neil Peart is more of a composer while Keith is more of an improvisor. Which one is best? Well that's up to each one isn't it? Theres no right or wrong. Two of my absolute favorite bands is in fact The Who and Rush. And I do think that Keith Moon and Neil Peart, along with John Bonham and Buddy Rich, are some examples of the greatest drummers ever lived.
@Pissrattan i agree wholeheartedly with your statement... I still view Peart as one of the greatest. I myself am a Moon fan, because keith's drumming always hits me in the gut and I guess neil's just doesnt. Again, all opinion based though

Keith Moon redefined the way rock drummers play even to this day. Bonham and Pert were great, but Moon was on a different level. Buddy Rich (a jazz drummer) is probably the best drummer of all time. Moon and Gene Krupa are very close. Moon had the most natural skill though.
