  • Evangelicals have already given up on this world. They seek only the world beyond, the world of God. Therefore it's only obvious for them not to care about our country or the world for that matter. That's why they never seek to better the world, because they don't believe in this world. The only question I have is why should we share this world with such ignorant and small minded people............The world is a diverse place and everyone has their view, but religion is fundamentally opposed .

  • Most of us had the courage to stand & rebel against our Fathers, while they were still alive.

Then had to swallow hard whenever we went on to learn much later in life, just how stupid & wrong we had been, to do it.

Looking @ & hearing Frankie here, all I can think is it's too bad that this chickenshit asshole had to wait more than 25 years from the time of his (great) Father's death, to rebel against him

I'll bet he's become gender confused too, I can easily see all the tell tale tendencies

  • @justtex1975 You mad, bro?

  • This guy is a liar. His siblings even attest to this fact. Funny how he tries to take credit for the work of his father in order to discredit it.

  • I wonder what Frank believes about the REAL lunatic prez obama one year after his "election" - that would be a good interview for "democracy now"

  • @gareof frank is talking about you. those who bad month obama who calls the president a lunatic.

  • @mujkocka Nobody's "bad-mouthing" obama - The truth is found in obama's writings, speaches, and actions - obama is a Godless and Blind politician - A person must be Godless and Blind, and willingly ignorant to fund (with US taxpayer money) murder in abortion mills of the world, (Ps.8:5-7 Ps.127:3 Ps.139:13-15 & Gal.1:15, Amos 1:13 etc.) - obama is nothing new to me - the last democrat I could vote for in good conscience was JFK - A person must be Godless & Blind to support such candidates

  • How refreshing to hear a REASONABLE, HONEST, THINKING human being. People over politics. Who would have thunk it?

  • In 1966, Franky was caught jacking off in his father's Swiss chalet, which scarred him for life from the shame he felt. His father, Francis, didn't know how to deal with the situation and left Franky adrift growing up without resolving the pain buried deep within his heart. Over the years, Franky tried to gain his father's approval by working with him in films, but eventually grew distant from him and the church putting on airs as a passive-aggressive critic.

  • @Entropy56, <<Thus you name.

"Resolving the pain buried deep within his heart"

    and bla bla bla.

Thank you for your, um, deeply

held but truly sick divinely inspired message.))

  • Good points, good listening

  • 1st Its funny that people has so much hate towards a God who they think doesn't exists.

And this is a bitter sad man...

  • sounds like an angry, over-educated, old man who just wants to piss off where he came from. This is what happens when you get too smart for your own good, kids. You devolve into a bitter, anti-masculine, liberal douche. Frank, go home and power fuck your wife, then race your car down the highway at 100mph to 7-11 and have a slurpy and you'll feel a whole lot better!

  • I really hope you're sarcastic

  • @virtuousvoice Ah shut up, fundie. Village idiot.

  • @Bagkaa I'm no fundie, just shows people assume too much these days. Frank's still a tool!

  • Frank Schaeffer endorsed Barack Obama. What happened to Frank?

  • @bfuenz He finally saw the light, and realizes now that the Evangelical movement is in reality Evil and full of hate.

He leads a life now that follows Christianity in a way that Christ would be proud of.

  • @bfuenz . He woke up.

  • It just occurred to me that he is an Anne Coulter; he is saying intentionally inflammatory things (he mentions Rush Limbaugh a lot, probably hoping Limbaugh will take the bait and talk about him on the air) just to get attention and sell his book. He is a FlimFlam man! He is also being very ugly in the process.

  • Don't you ever smile Frank? I have rarely seen someone so clearly consumed with anger as you. There is no way that you could have been around the people you were around and come to this conclusion. You are lying in some way here, to yourself, or us. This IS hate speech by any definition.

  • I do not agree with this lib' when he makes fun of the grassroots resistance movements here.Libturds have no ethnicity roots and forget the lessons of Euro Naziism, Communism. Most Americans are stupid. Lib and Con. Americans, whether CNN or FOX are so myopic it is pathetic. This guy is still largely a fool. I understand his anger at the right wing antichrists, but I don't trust Obama anymore either. Another nightmare with a cool smile and guilt conjuring black skin. US is now total bullshit.

  • The NeoCon scam just hates it when their religions are exposed. Or rather, when their bedpartners come out of the closet.

  • Frank's analysis of anti-intellectualism and hatred in the Christian right is spot on, however his rants also sound like sour grapes. Frank, you call yourself a Christian, so who do you serve first: America or Jesus Christ?

  • Frankie has never been a believer but enjoyed the ride being the son of a great man of God

Who are you Frankie to speak as with authority? You are merely riding on the coat tails of your father You are a nobody trying to be significant

So you're pro-life but voting for pro-death Obama?

    H Y P O C R I TE!

So now the murder of 50 million children in the US is not so bad anymore?

You've failed at your attempt at fame

You'll never measure up to the man your father was, not even close

  • Never been a believer? That's a lie.

  • Anyone can SAY they're a believer.

    Anyone can PLAY church.

"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us." 1 John 2:19

Yeshua said, "You will know them by their fruit."

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, ..... And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:22-23

  • And you're the judge of who merely says and plays that they're Christian? Tell me, where did you get this special authority and insight?

  • You must not know your Bible.

I just showed you, from the scriptures!

The scriptures say, "YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUIT." Thats' pretty clear. Jesus told us to be a fruit inspector, to judge their actions. not to judge them in the sense of condemning them to hell. Only God has the power to do that, obviously.

"They went out from us...." sounds clear to me. What part are you having difficulty understanding?

I'll be glad to help out.

  • Oh, I know my Bible. Trust me.

I'd like to know what fruits condemn him exactly and how. Although I don't think he's perfect (outing his parents like that seems a bit dodgy), I can't see anything that would suggest that he's not a Christian.

And no, it's not clear what you mean by 1. John 2. Are you referring to his conversion to Orthodoxy?

  • He tore his godly parents to shreds is more like it. there's a start. Are you actually telling me you can watch that and not see him tearing apart christianity?

If you can't see it, I doubt I can explain it where you could understand.

What part of 1 John do you not get?

    It seems pretty straight forward.

Do you think a believer could support a president who is in favor or murdering babies, euthanasia, infanticide and supports sodomites, & their marrying and adopting kids?

    BAD FRUIT.

  • Yes, I'm telling you that. Nothing of what he says strikes as non- or anti-Christian at all.

The way you're using 1. John is simply to claim that it applies to Schaeffer. That's what I don't understand.

Yes, I think a Christian can support Obama. Just like one could support Bush Jr, even though he started two wars killing thousands of people. Politics are messy. But thanks for saying. Now I know where you come from. And I don't think there can be much dialogue here. You seem too ideological.

  • There are 7 things that are an abomination to God, one is the shedding of innocent blood. So Obama who supports the murdering of 50,000,000 children, infanticide, & euthanasia is OK for a believer to give hearty approval?

God took Sodom to hell, a consequence for their sin of sodomy. Obama is pro-sodomite to the extreme and you think a believer could support sodomites?

Are YOU a Christian? Bush was just as bad as Obama, they're both puppets of the shadow government, the Federal Reserve bank

  • Just curious. What if his answer is America, or what if his answer is Jesus Christ?

  • A Christian loves Christ first above all other things, including their country.

  • I would suppose his sentiment is: the Christian right has gone so far - that they are now in the blasphemy zone.

Isnt it obvious that his stand here is because he takes his faith seriously and it shows when he does a service to the people of America here?

He is in a very unique position here, and his message is strong, it would be hard to put it out without using strong words?

  • he is a good dude

  • I love this guy! I have never heard it put so well.

  • Isn't it odd that America in general rewards politicians who stick to outdated and irrelevant beliefs? And if a politician learns something new and evolves and matures as a leader, America slams him or her for "flip flopping."

If someone learns something new and changes his view, he's accused of "falling away" or being confused...unless he's come into the camp of his critic; then, he's considered "enlightened."

I prefer leaders Frank Shaeffer who are on a journey for truth, justice, & peace.

  • Having seen much of what he has seen, I am glad that now the main stream religious community is walking up. It may be too late, however.

  • Frank Schaeffer is a breath of fresh air, a rational mind in an irrational world!

  • This guy's like Rehoboham meets Benedict Arnold.

  • Frank Schaeffer has the guts to admit he was wrong to uphold the religious right in the past. If he ran the Republican Party, it might actually be taken seriously again. He would be the only person in the party who actually is capable of independent thought.

  • You show your prejudice against the elderly Frank when you refer to John McCain as an old man for no apparent reason except to denigrate him.

  • that's right zoe... nobody should use their minds, or brains or reasoning or common sense or !!! freewill. just swallow the hate pill and do as you are told. Spoooky. As Jesus said, "Bless those who curse you, pray for your enemies". Well, bless you dear. And I'm not even a christian.

  • I can see why aso many evangelicals diss Frank Schaeffer:

    1. He's more intelligent than 99% of them;

    2. He presents a rational and logical refutation of their childish political presumptions; and

    3. He isn't afraid to point out the ulterior vested economic and political interests behind their "Christian world view of the culture wars" prattle.

I give him a lot of credit. He surpasses his father on many fronts. He's a breath of fresh air compared to fundie theocons.

  • this guy says it straight!

  • Also, read (pastor) Dr. Greg Boyd's book, "The Myth of a Christian Nation".

  • ...But what is disappointing about Frank Schaeffer, is that he willingly states that he opposes the extremism of the right, he gives few specifics, beyond waiting for Jesus's return, and ignores an equally vociferous and vituperative left wing. My sense of it, after watching this video and other, is that he simply is not a very profound intellectual, certainly not in the way his father was. And I suspect that he won't have the same amount of influence (either way) that his father did...

  • What I find very disappointing about Frank Schaeffer is that while he criticises "the right" he really doesn't give us any idea of what core values or ideas he continues to hold. His father lamented the social disorder, controversy and unrest, and attributed it (correctly, I believe) to an essential lack of a reigning consensus, where Biblical Christianity had once provided one. He called the nation to return to that faith, but never stopped stressing the importance of truth, as truth...

  • You know, of course there are many within the church that take the rapture seriously--as I do--but we are also painted a very balanced picture in scripture for what to do regarding it, as the Bible tells us that no one knows when

Christ will return. The vast majority of Christians take this same view--wishing to live in a way that would please Christ on his return, but not willing our world toward such catastrophe as would necessitate it... :)

  • A pendulum boy. Before he was a Reagan rumdum supporting another populist control junky, and servant of the elites. Now, he's an Obama rumdum. Obama, the Trojan Horse, another disarming, bullshitting servant of the elites coming at us from the left rear end. Seriously. Does this guy even breathe? Talk about a wingnut. Holy shit! This motormouth needs more meds than Cheney when he took over NORAD on 911. Yeh, kill some babies and force a law down doctors throats to be pro-kill, not pro-choice.

  • AMEN!!!!

  • If this man was the voice of the republicans instead of steele and limbaugh man what you repubs could accomplish. This is a well spoken man Im a democrat and i really like him.

  • You said it! If the GOP would either create a new identity based upon the changes that have happened in America or at least separate the party from the nuts they would have a chance. I don't see that happening and I predict another big loss for the gop in 2010 and 2012. Palin was a complete pandering to the far right - hand picked by Dobson and Kristol who went to Alaska just a couple of months before McCain 'selected' her.

  • Of course you like this babbler. He supports no courage to tell the Amerikan Korporatocratic oligarchs to shove their pleas for cash up their ass and the vast majority of troubled "homeowners", most of whom would do well to never own anything again in their entitled lives for the sake of truth. You like a dumbass that gives billions to an insurance funnel with no review of the plans they had for bonuses and then expresses outrage at the end result of his Bush type bailout. You like dumbasses.

  • There is nothing sad about Mr. schaeffer's comments.

  • Oh! He's sad. Look. I think so little of GW my feet tingle when I think of him. Like when I get ready to fight.Just charged. However, Obama is "brotherman". Angela Davis, the real, sees him as another extension of oppression. This jagoff smiling punk furthers more war in Afghanistan. Wants to jump on Iran. Which will bring World War III to a suckbar near you, and wants to fuck with people's rights to bear arms, so we don't end like the Jews in WWII. Fuck this non-combat Trojan Horse libtard.

  • distressed7 is a Alex Jones worshiper! He thinks everyone is a pawn of the NWO!

    LOL!

Talk about some weak minded sheep...These NWO freaks are no dif than Sky Daddy worshipers! They believe anything their god Alex SELLS them! LOL!

  • Oh fuck! Got anything new from the weasels of fear, popstand pleasers? Long before Alex was I am. I learned the scam while in the Marines, and believe me I could care less where your personalities hail from, but I smell officeboy shit all over the same old, you guessed it, "shit" you exist in. Seriously, may I be your therapist? You have a face for a thousand roles your korporate death demands. It'd do much good for slaves like you to ever so momentarily indulge secretly into conspiracy. Fun!:)

  • LOL! "office boy shit"

I am sure you learned all about the NWO in the Marines...It sounds more like you have a problem with authority due to your lack of any real education. If you spent more time trying to learn about what is real instead of hiding behind simple minded conspiracy theories maybe you would feel better about yourself? Until then it looks like you will remain a mind slave to folks like Alex Jones.

    BTW-Try using spell check.

  • Amazing. I get it. When the shoe size "mind control" fits a prole out comes the mind controlled responses like, "lack of real education" or, this is rich. Oh! This is hilarious, "simple minded conspiracy theories" and then the "feel better about yourself." Are you so stupid to think that one cannot see certain gross contradictions when working for someone, or, in this case, something and getting an understanding of it firsthand? Jeeez? Talk about simpleminded, you are it.

  • So why is it that in the name of Christanity so many crimes againts marginalized groups have been committed? These Christian extremist do so much judging of others. True Christians look for the bolder in their eyes before looking for the splinter in the eye of their fellowman.

  • "And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will." 2 Tim 2:24-26

  • Anyone can throw around Bible verses...Are you in the business of stoning people or killing people the Bible says too?

Bronze Age beliefs simply do not mesh with the moden world...You can say what you want but I know you would not want to live in a world governed strickly from the Bible. There is plenty of history to show what life would be like if we decided as a society to go backward. Keep your religion personal and there will be no problem.

  • FREAK! I am so glad your brand of radical extreme bronze age hate filled Christianity is out of power!

Now, go talk to yourself and then go wait on your Zombie Son to swoop down out of the clouds and save your sorry sinful self!

  • S.D.7, it's a lie that I'm hate-filled or that Christians are hate-filled. No, we have love, the love of GOD and His SON JESUS CHRIST in us, and because we recognize that some things are evil, come from a place of self-loathing, and lead to self-destruction, does not mean we hate anybody--it means we care enough to speak the hard truth that leads to repentance and healing. I hope you see the Light and come to Jesus.

  • I am no religious type. However, motherfucker, and you are one, like your foul fucked token president. Seriously, you are about as kind as a cockroach in your shit in a hot fagbar during a Friday night barbecue.

  • Your comment smells of religious bigotry...You speak like true Christian so you must be one or at least you have been heavily influenced by Christianity.

Now go pray to your SkyDaddy or his Zombie Son or whatever so that you can be forgiven for your potty mouth.

  • Bigotry? Shit! After hangin' around your worlds for awhile I see why certain cats got whacked.

  • It is encouraging to see someone like Frank come out and tell the truth as to how evil the religious right really is and what a real threat to America they really are.

Religious conservatives stand for nothing that was iterated in the founding of America but against every principle of the founding. They hate freedom, they hate free choice and if they have there way America will become a theocratic dictatorship. The truth is to preserve America these people will have to be dealt with.

  • This man has a great mind-integrity.

  • This is a man of great conscience and courage. I, too, was brought up in the Christian Right and can relate to what he speaks of, first hand. His well thought out, and well communicated views are very much appreciated.

I have articulated my own views on abortion and the Presidency in a similar way.

Thanks for taking a stand Frank Schaeffer!

  • Great remark. I could not agree with you more.

  • Greed devalues human life too. Conservatism=greed.

  • wow. great video!

  • he spoke at my school last year (West Chester University). he's a very intelligent guy, he would do well in politics if he wasn't inadvertendly forced into the political realm in his childhood.
