If you bought it with the clip yes. Without the clip a D2CKey wire install is possibly the most difficult mod chip installation. 29 Wires to the legs of an ASIC chip.

No. The D2CKey is only for D2C chipsets. It will not work with D2A, D2B, DMS, D2C2, D2E, etc. The D2CKey is actually rather obsolete now and I would recommend a D2Pro chip. These are updatable, and the new ones support all drive versions.

what are your dvd burning settings, like what speed like 4x with a dvd+r or dvd-r?

Always burn as slow as possible. 2.4x is ideal.

This depends on the chip. With a D2CKey all you need to do is set the region jumpers (JP1,JP2) on the chip. Nothing needs to be soldered to the Wii itself. I am not sure if this applies to other chips, but I don't imagine you would need to wire anything. That is what the clip does is run wires (very fine traces) to the legs of the ASIC chip.

Yes, as long as you do not run updates from games in a different region.

You need to use writable DVDs. These only come in two sizes 4.7GB and 8.5GB. All Wii games but Super Smash Bros Brawl are on single layer. SSBB is on a dual layer, and if you use a D2CKey you need a manual layer break at block 2084960. Most other chips do not require the manual layer break though.

The only way you would know for sure would be to open it up and look, which I wouldn't reccommend unless you know what you are doing. It also requires a tri-wing screwdriver. I think its probable that you do have a D2C w/o cut legs.

The clip is an installation tool. You still need to solder the mod chip into the clip, but you solder nothing to the Wii. To enable region override you need to bridge a jumper on the mod chip to set the region of your console.

Yes and no. With the Wii-Clip, nothing needs to be soldered to the Wii DVD Drive itself. You solder the mod chip into the Wii-Clip, and then the Wii-clip clips onto the DVD drive chip.

Thanks, I found a website that lets you buy the D2cKey already soldered on the Wii clip, but what if you have "Cut Legs" on your Wii with a D2C Drive, can you still install?

I wouldn't recommend you buy it soldered. You can do it yourself. A monkey could. Are you sure you have cut legs? I have never seen a D2C with legs cut. Most of the cut legs I've seen were D2B/DMS/D2A. If you have cut legs though I would avoid the Wii Clip. I would recommend a Wasabi or the new 9 wire D2Pro. These are both 9 wire installs with only 3 going to the legs. If you have cut legs you'll need to grind the chip or use alternate points. The Wii-Clip won't work with cut legs.

i have this and it worked great the first day but i think it came loose, surely this is my fault though cuz i never did any kind of mod before so I need to take it apart again and see if thats the case. it plays originals just not backups anymore. :( I'll get it fixed up though.

Are you sure the backups are good? Also, did you set the region jumper on the chip when you installed the chip in the Wii-Clip?

What i don't understand is all images ove seen on wii clips website they don't show you actually connecting the vcc and ground i take it you had to connect these? are the instructions that come with the wii clip more detailed?

The Wii-Clip actually gets power and ground from the ASIC itself.
