Crowds are so out of control so quickly. People do things in a mob situation they would never do as an individual. This is why police need to be quick in dealing with anyone who pushes an officer, throws anything at them, tries to push down a barricade, etc., etc. A loud speaker with a firm and steady voice explaining to people that this is the way it is going to be is very helpful. Do not let them control the situation with chants and rants against police.
