Master Chief didn't die. If you beat Halo 3 on Legendary and watch all the way through the credits it shows a cut scene with Master Chief jumping into a cryo-chamber and not being dead. Search it.

halo and gears can't be compared. they play on different spectrums of emotion. Also, the gameplay is in no way similar. Neither game is better, both are the best next gen. games I've ever played. Nothing will beat the first time i played halo 1, though =D. not even the second time -_-
