  • story of my life

  • better than enya

  • Many people are pretty/handsome.

Many people have a good voice.

Many people feel what they're singing.

    Many people have brains.

    She simply has it all.

  • @Uperiwv You are so right. I love everything about this artist. She is magnificent.

  • The Corrs were/are the group of Ireland but Mary Black is the voice of Ireland (that's how I see it).

  • I love Mary Black. Seen her 3 times live and she is such a friendly woman.

Ireland can be very proud to have such a international singing star :+)

    Irelandforever!!!!!!

  • I love Mary Black!

Greetings from Germany to the beautiful Ireland.

  • I love Mary Black - always have done - she has a great voice and is not given enough credit for it.

  • I loved a young man when I was 21 and he was 18. He was very sweet and kind to me. Better than anyone I have ever known. It did not last but that sweet memory is still with me. He loved music. He subsequently died in New Orleans after being stabbed in the heart two days before Valentines Day. He would have been 29 in May. He was not what he seemed when I first met him, but I would take that thorn any day. The memory had faded somewhat but this brought it all back. What a gift.

  • i cant stop listening to this!

  • Please sing I think its going to rain today.

  • Great but is that Sammy Wilson on the piano?

  • @Bighairyjoesph - Its an amazing Pianist from Kinsale, County Cork named Pat Crowley

  • What a great song! I love it!

  • I first heard this song at the end of some horror movie long ago and can't recall the name of it. Does anyone know? It was something like Prom Night - some teenage thriller horror film. Thank you!

  • I love this song.....

  • Great video, especially when you notice that you notice that a very young Eleanor McEvoy is playing electric piano right behind Mary!

  • Oh, my....what a marvellous voice!

  • The song is so beautiful, it is a testament to Mary Black's integrity as an Artist.

She has brought me so much joy through her music, her ability to find the greatest songs.

"The Thorn Upon The Rose" is one of my favorite songs ever!

Thank You to Mary Black for a career of beautiful music.

  • @mjastoria Thorn upon the Rose was Written by Julie Matthews

  • She's such a good lookin' woman!!

  • If I ever get the chance, I'd marry a woman who could sing like that.

  • Mary must be unusual for a woman in that she has got considerably more beautiful as she has got older (see the 1979 clip for proof!) and her voice has mellowed too. I think her singing was at its best in the early 90s - since then she seems to have gone a bit warbly (maybe too much influence from the Mary J. Blige school of never singing 1 note when 197 will do). This isa great song though - as is all of the Babes in The Wood and No Frontiers albums.

  • Simply sooooo beautiful, the lyrics and her voice!!!

Many regards from Tranum Enge, Danmark

  • Great mary regards from |Glasgow Scotia Bar ... love to you

  • I just didn't realise the significance of this song. S explained it to me. How it has come true - because I was too stupid to see that I had the greatest love that I ever could, and then let her go.

What wouldn't I give for another chance!

A beautiful song that will be with me forever.

  • Please. Greatest love you'll ever have is nowhere outside yourself. Poetry is easy. Getting out of the way of it is difficult.

  • Mary Black. Its like Grace Slick if she never did acid, and went all strange. MB, a beutiful woman, with a beutiful voice and spirit.

  • This is Julie Matthews song, I know because I was 1 of 4 people at her house when she played it for the first time, & She told us M B had taken an option on it, The Best Version of it is by Pat Shaw on the Lies & Alibis Album (Fat Cat Records FATCD001)Pat & Julie were a Duo at the time. Mary black is Brilliant though

  • Mary Black truly has a voice as sweet as a Rose, that gives one the pleasure of a beautiful rendition holding you griped in the delight of a clear melody that stays with you in pleasant remembrance of a crystal clear voice the is second to none.

  • Wow she is aweswome, I first heard her voice while shopping at a music store in Galway in around 1990 I also got to see her in the Greats Woods concert Massachustts, and in Newport Rhode Island at the newport folk festival....... wow if you ever get the chance. When ever I hear this song I think of my first true love and how I screwed that up.... If I only knew then what I know now I would have married that Irish wonderful lass

  • Oh the voice, the voice is what Judy Collins stated while introducing her to the fortunate crowd ........ at The NewPort Folk Festival

  • could someone help me i want mary blacks song wonder child and cant seem to find it.... help me plz

  • Her hair was black and her eyes were blue...

  • Look for a song she does called "Bless the Road". ;-)
